Feel free to use this thread to toss in interesting item ideas for use as ambient or quest loot in EFU:R.
Loot with an interesting flair, loot that isn't too powerful, loot that is equivalent to existing loot may be incorporated into EFU.

Name: Chronicles of Squidima
Item: Book
Description: A thin book bound with the leather of beholderflesh. It is illustrated with many pictures of the infamous Calishite alienist and her tentacled cohort Kreil Gotek embarking on epic adventures in the Underdark. Gotek lashes violently at a drow swordmaster in an arena while being observed by all manner of strange creatures. Most notably an illithid with his hands clasped together in subtle amusement. The duo creep towards tall, imposing monoliths of alien architecture while a beholder cackles madly in the background. Most curious of all the illustrations is the mage and Gotek standing among black and red robed wizards and a faltering animatron as wererats pour in from the darkness. The following page shows almost the same exact scene but distorted as what appears to be a gem falls to the ground and erupts with a brilliant light. The book ends telling how she transcended her mortality after a number of harrowing adventures above and below before escaping to the mainland where she became as legend.

Amber
Base Item: Gem
Fossilized tree resin, amber is a gem that occurs in range of different hues, the most common being the yellowish orange-brown usually related to its name. It is prized in folk medicine, in perfumery and as jewelry, sometimes happening to contain inclusions of fossilized plants or animals. The Talontar believe that finding a solitary piece of amber would mean Blightmother's favor, but if such a gem shatters when touched, the victim will soon die of disease.
Jasper
Base Item: Gem
After going through the cutting and polishing, the usually opaque jasper is a valuated gem, often modified by the diffusion of minerals along discontinuities, providing the appearance of plant growth. By being exposed to the weather for a long period of time, it is possible to create upon its surface a series of intensely colored rinds filled by a myriad of intricate patterns. The followers of the Lady of Poisons usually favor such gem as the signal of their Mistress's favor, although if it shatters when touched, they assume that the person will soon fall victim of poison.
Actually, just apply slow to the user and give +5 ac/+3 ab +2 reflex -2 will.
So it turns into a net gain of:
+1 ac +2 ab +2 reflex
While it does:
Removes an attack per round/-2 will
Represents preplanned blows, ac due to increased reflexes, reflex for the same reason, will reduction for being slow minded, and attack reduction for forethought to blows.
Addiction leads to being highly twitchy when it wears off, hyper active and your mind compensating for when it thinks its on the drug. Increases speed but reduces saves across the board and reduces dex.

I really like this, make it like the healing kit script where it consumes the item and gives it a charge of the property while improving its quality as you attachs baubles and stuff from your tackle box onto the chosen bait. .
Not sure if these are already in game since there are a wide variety of ammunition types, but:
QuoteFowling Arrow/Bolt
These simple arrows and bolts have a dense, rounded bulb on the end instead of a point, and are primarily used for hunting game without ruining the pelts or meat.
Bonus Damage Type: Bludgeoning

Spetum
Base Item: Spear
Description: The Spetum was a variation of the spear. It consisted of a long pole some 6â€"8 feet long on which was mounted a spear head with two projections at its base. The main blade was 12â€"14 inches long, and the side blades were only about half that length and were set at acute angles.
Stats: +2 Slashing Dmg, +1d4 Massive Criticals
[hide="El Wikipedia Entry"]A spetum was a pole weapon of Europe during the 13th century. It consisted of a long pole some 6â€"8 feet long on which was mounted a spear head with two projections at its base. Many variations of this design flourished over time; some[who?] feel that the ranseur is a variation of the spetum. Other names include chauve souris, corseca, corsèsque, korseke, runka, and rawcon. The spetum is usually distinguished from the ranseur and partisan by its "prongs" being single edged and used for slashing. The main blade was 12â€"14 inches long, and the side blades were only about half that length and were set at acute angles.
The design of a spetum is very efficient for combat. The main blade is long enough to destroy any significant organ in the human body with one quick thrust. The blunt backs of the side blades make the spetum extremely useful for a variety of uses such as tripping and knocking aside shields, but more importantly they provide far more strength to the sharpened side and points than is possible with any dual-edged construction. The sharpened front ends are useful for piercing or chopping in situations where precision is difficult. For example, one quick thrust of a spetum can easily remove the lower foreleg, ankle, and foot of an opponent with a side blade. Trying to do this with only a single spear point is incomparably more difficult. Similarly throat-level thrusts with a spetum can miss a direct hit by a huge distance and still completely impale the victim's neck.[/hide]
Scrapman GRIT Stick
Base item: Short Spear
This interesting piece of scrapper ingenuity is meant to be carried in two hands, despite it's small size. It seems to be designed to deliver an electric jolt when the to strikes, and is enchanted to deal with even the toughest of animatronic armor plating and jab it's way into the various delicate working parts inside. It's a Sunday weapon in its own however, and wouldn't serve much good against living targets.

THE NEVERENDING BAG OF SWORDS
This bag appears to contain a small portal to some enormous forge on the elemental plane of steel, as every time you open it, there is a new weapon [dagger, rapier, scimitar, longsword, bastard sword, greatsword, falchion] inside. The blade is utterly mundane except that when it leaves the owner's possession it lasts only 3 rounds before disappearing.
Blades produced in this way cannot be sold, traded or abandoned.
---
These blades are as popular with evokers who rely on a steady supply of steel as they are with weak-wristed nobility, tired of constantly having their weapon knocked away by ruffians.
Could work as a bag of holding with any (or varying) degrees of weight reduction depending on quality. Or could be implemented as an item with charges which will produce a particular blade each time
Bag of Baubilum
A bag that works like the healing kit "thingy" That allows for several baubilium to be stored in one item.
Reinforced Greaves
Base Item: Boots
These greaves are formed of thick leather, studded for extra grip and encased in a shell of lobstered steel. These greaves allow a warrior to wade through the debris of the battlefield, without fear of being hobbled. They are very cumbersome however, with the protection offered by the steel favored by less dexterous fighters.
Piercing Immunity 10%
-3 Tumble
-2 Hide
-2 Move Silently
Thick Steel Mittens
Base Item: Gauntlets
Every fighter knows that one of the first pieces of armor a true warrior needs is a pair of thick gauntlets. A mashed finger can mean the difference between holding onto ones shield or having the force to deliver the killing blow. With weapons sliding along shafts and down blades sometimes a crossguard just isn't enough. For those fighters these steel mittens are a worthwhile investment. Plated and protected it'll protect from most lucky strikes against the fingers. This does prevent the digits from performing complex or minute tasks... even pointing is difficult.
Slashing Immunity 10%
+2 Discipline
-3 Pick Pocket
-3 Disable Trap
Ooze Encrusted Spellguard Blaster
Base Item: Miscellaneous Small, same model as the Spellguard Blaster
With the ooze flooding the machine and it's corrosive influence spreading deeper and deeper caches of Spellguard blasters were obviously taken with it. This one such blaster seems to have survive somehow, encased in thick, hardened ooze. With great effort it still appears to be usable.

A massive Umberhulk arm that is impaled with a stick to make a very bizarre great hammer. Acidic aberration blood still slowly drips from the arm, causing those to get hit to get splattered with the damaging stuff, but the blood also travels down the stick and often gets on the wielder as well burning their hands and melting armor as they continue to use it.
Ambient loot books with tutorials on ciphers, scaling in rarity with the complexity of the cipher that is being tutorialized.
EDIT: Specifically, cipher types already employed IG would be hinted at through these ambient primers.
As some of you know, I am in the midst of overhauling the loot tables for EFU.
Unfortunately, this thread is fairly useless.
Suggestions for loot that is somewhere on the edge between useful and useless, loot with an interesting flair but isn't DM loot quality, loot that doesn't require specialized scripting, loot that has a little personality and a nice description is what I'm after.

Goblin Worg-Hide Armor
Base Item: Hide Armor
Worgs serve an important purpose in goblin tribes. Being fierce mounts, skilled guard dogs and excellent trackers they are vital to survival of goblin tribes lucky enough to contain them. Even in death are the Worgs used by the tribal humanoids. Poorly cured and stitched, this suit of armor seems to be sewn together from an unfortunate Worg. While ugly, the thick fur and skin, combined with the natural smell of the beast can trick other animals

Salvaged Goblin Chest-Plate
Base Item: Breastplate
Battered and bent into shape, this small cuirass seems to have been cut from a larger suit of armor. It is still very cumbersome and loud however, as parts seem nailed and bolted together.

Rusty Goblin Ring-Mail

Ring-Mail armor, rings of iron or steel sewn into a leather backing, is common all over the Realms. The goblin race is no different. Not known as skilled craftsmen, their suits are a patchwork of other hauberks and shirts salvaged from friend and foe alike. This suit alone shows the sign of at least three different races or nations. Despite the rust and its filthy state, it is still capable armor

Goblin Leper Rags
Base Item: Clothing
The life of a Goblin Leper is a short one, even by the standards of their wretched race. Soaked with filth, caked in old blood and reeking of an unwashed goblin, these rags, a soiled yellow, mark the wearer as a Goblin leper. A pariah of the tribe it is the duty of all lepers to join colonies of other afflicted goblins. If the goblin who once wore these rags ever made it to his destination is doubtful, they seem to hold the memory of a deperate scrabble.

Goblin Veterans Chainmail
Base Item: Splint Mail
To survive as a warrior in a goblin tribe requires a combination of cunning, cowardice, and plain luck. The veterans of the tribe understand to wear cumbersome plate greaves or the like will only slow them down in the case of a hasty retreat. As such, most of the protection is centered on the torso, leaving the legs free and unencumbered to chase or flee from an enemy. Impressive pauldrons and shoulderpads display their status to lesser warriors in the tribe to make up for the lack-luster leg armor.
+2 Intimidate
-1 AC Slashing
+2 Tumble
Stolen Goblin War Plate
Base Item: Full Plate
This harness at one point may have been an impressive piece of craftsmanship. Or, at least, parts of it were. A greave of orog make here, a duergar gauntlet there, a gorget of some drow house... most of these pieces were obviously robbed from a battlefield. Combined with goblin craftsmanship to shore up the gaps, it provides a sad sort of protection, though sturdy enough for its goblin wearer.

Goblin Rat-Scale Armor
Base Item: Studded Leather
Rats are an important food source for goblin tribes, especially those near the ruined metropolis of Dunwarren. Industrious, the skins of the rat are used in all sorts of clothing and tools. Easily produced, these suits of armor are common amongst novice warriors or hunters of the tribe. With the rat hide cut and cured into strips, it is bolted together with old nails to form a sort of scale like armor. Goblin Tribal Shield
Base Item: Large Shield
This large shield bares the markings of a primitive goblin tribe. Goblin Trooper's Sledge-Hammer
Base Item: Warhammer
Goblin Warriors are a fractured and unorganized lot. Tactics usually consist of charging and attempting to overwhlem with numbers alone. A goblin who lives long enough to learn more complex battle techniques is a rarity. Marching off to battle, they adopt easily repaired or replaced weapons such as axes and hammers to finish off those weakened by their more reckless kin. This hammer was once used by one, crude yet effective, like the troopers who weild them.

Goblin "Halberd"

Wielded by the savage humanoids like a an average man would a halberd, this battle axe at one point in its life was a Halberd of some sort. Goblin Chain Gauntlets
Base Item: Gauntlets
