Title: EFU Launcher Slow after new hak content added
Post by: djspectre on February 20, 2014, 06:26:37 PM
I exclusively use the EFU launcher to get into EFU and it's worked just fine since it's inception.

However, after the new custom weapons hak came out, my efu launcher hangs at 'downloading patch for dialog.tlk'. I assume this is because it's re-downloading it again after every server reset.

This delay does not occur if I relog using the EFU launcher between server resets.

For me its the "dialog" file that seems to take a while.

It happens to me as well. But not after resets, it happens every time I log using the launcher. The exact same file as DJ wrote.

I'm getting this every time I use the launcher:

Start by not using that launcher. See relevant announcement (http://www.efupw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82088#4).

If anyone using the new (correct, supported) launcher is having any issues please let us know.

Also, if you play on different servers that also override the dialog.tlk file -- or, for that matter, any of them -- this will happen. In that case, please keep separate copies of the conflicting files. I'm against automating this because, while I could look for and restore an EfU-specific dialog.tlk file quite easily, I wouldn't know what to do with the existing one, and that would screw you over when connecting to other servers.

My apologies ... Though I can't be the only one that missed that there was a new version for Windows.  After multiple clicks through multiple posts I finally ended up where the download is.  It's not until you look at the download links themselves that you see it's for windows as well.  Most of it says "Linux Update".  Just mentioning that it's not readily apparent.  I'll update and see what happens.
