Title: Destruction Cleric Domain does not Turn Constructs
Post by: Heavyfog on February 26, 2014, 03:41:14 PM
GSID: Heavyfog
PC: Cephus Dearth

It seems the Destruction Cleric domain is not granting the ability to Turn Constructs (assuming Animatrons are Constructs).  It seems to only be damaging them as per the 'standard' implementation of the Destruction Domain. I have downloaded the optional cleric domains file and my PC's other Custom Domain is working as stated here: http://www.efupw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6473

Are you sure they are constructs?

They're probably too high HD for you.

Destruction Domain deals damage, not dealing mind effects like normal turn undead does. HD should not matter, only the clerics level determines how much damage is dealt. All constructions in an area should receive Xd3 (x=Cleric level) in damage wh en the cleric turns undead.

If he is not dealing damage, they are either not a construct, he is bugged, or something else is occurring!

Or I am completely wrong, I'll test in a module eventually.

My PC was 5th level at time of testing this.  It was used against some maintenance animatrons and Horned animatons. Damage was dealt to several of these animatrons however none were 'Turned'.

The 'standard' implementation is (per nwnwiki):

Destruction domain

Able to damage constructs (//%22http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Construct%22) while using the turn (//%22http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Turn_undead%22)  ability.  Constructs are not turned, but instead damaged 1d3 per Turn  level, e.g. 1d3 to 40d3, to the limit of the hit dice turned. The damage type (//%22http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Damage_type%22) is magical.

Bonus Spells (http://www.efupw.com/forums/data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIABAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAEALAAAAAABAAEAQAICTAEAOw%3D%3D) (//%22http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Destruction_domain?action=edit§ion=2%22)

Level 3 Stinking cloud (//%22http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Stinking_cloud%22)
Level 6  Acid fog (//%22http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Stinking_cloud%22)

The EFU implementation of this Domain:

Destruction Domain
Spells: Stinking Cloud (3), Acid Fog (6)
Abilities: Turn Constructs

I am fairly sure I have seen another PC do this successfully in EFU:R.  It imparts a colorful spinning band above the animatrons head and causes them to react much like a "Turned" undead.

This does not happen. Instead only damage was dealt to said animatrons.

If this is how it is supposed to work (only dealing damage) then there is no bug and I am mistaken that I have seen a cleric literally "Turn" animatrons (I guess they could have been earth elementals and I'm sorry for the mistaken bug report).

However if PCs with the Destruction Domain are supposed to be able to send Animatrons fleeing/having them stand there immobilized with an animation above their heads then something is amiss because this is not happening.

To be honest I don't know, but I'm fairly sure most of the animatrons out there have fairly high HD so would be difficult to "turn" in that way.

Destruction domain does not 'turn' animatrons, it merely deals damage. It neither 'fears' or 'destroys' them instantly, but instead applies damage. I rolled a level 40 cleric and tried to turn a level 5 animatron with  high hp, I merely dealt a lot of damage.

Thanks for the test there Thomas. Yeah it seems I was mistaken. Sorry for the bum report.
