Title: Resting Revamped!
Post by: gravekeeper on March 02, 2014, 01:39:51 AM
I have ever thought that sitting and relaxing wasn't always an appropriate means for some of my PCs to recover their abilities, mainly when it's related to my most mystic characters.

So, when hitting the "R" for resting, it would be nice to have other behaviors available, like:

Another idea, mainly for priests and maybe for the more mixed casters: it would be nice to have options of recovering spells without the need of special stuff like food or campfire when near a shrine. You would be cursed or something if you were trying to make it in a shrine devoted to a faith with an opposing or too different alignment.

I think having prayer-rest for clerics would be awesome. It could actually make a mechanical use for the Consecrate skill, by way of making a little spot where your god's attentions can be focused out in the wilderness instead of needing to use a campfire.

In order to pray in the wilderness, you'd need Consecrate, blessed water, or maybe some other consumable item in conjunction with a holy symbol. Having a different resting method/requirement for different broad groups of class type (Mundane, Arcane, Divine) would be great flavor.

It could also potentially free up arcanists from heaving a bedroll around, which can be a pretty significant chunk of carrying capacity in a module with so many consumables and trinkets.
