Title: Add cat's grace and endurance to druid's spell selection
Post by: FarmGirl on March 22, 2014, 05:51:07 PM
QuoteHowland:   Plenty of places to get (Cat's Grace), but unfortunately druids can't cast it.
Howland:   Always struck me as dumb
Caster:   Spell override so that druids get cat's grace and endurance? :3

I think it would make sense that druids, with the ability to wildshape and cast bull's strength, should also be able to cast the other physical ability buffing spells such as cat's grace and endurance.

While I agree it makes sense, it's a pain in the ass to handle these things and they are more than often prone for bugs.

We'll see if someone has time and spirit to go at it, at some point in future, but no promises.

Clerics cant cast it either, and again they have it in normal dnd... and wizards/sorcs have animate dead at level 3 in normal dnd

Its really strange

Yes, one would think that Owl's Wisdom, Endurance and Cat's Grace would all be key druid spells, both mechanically and conceptually it just makes sense. Would be great if these were added, and IMO would certainly help wizards seem less OP.

The lack of Cat's Grace and Endurance is especially weird because in normal P&P Druids do get both of them. They get both of them in NWN2 too. In both cases, for obvious reasons.

NWN1 is the odd duck in this regard. It always was more than a little perplexing.

It's the difference between 3e and 3.5

Druids don't get any of those spells in 3e but 3.5 added them. So NWN2 has them but NWN1 doesn't.

Ahh yeah that would explain it. 3E/3.5 blur together like all hell to me.

As I said. It's a pain in the arse to do. Don't hold your breath. It's not anywhere near in my list with my busy schedule, and I doubt anyone else is going to, or able to do it.

I fully support the notion of them being available for the respective classes, but as I said. It's a bug-prone matter and requires fiddling with .2da's and making specific scripts to mimic the proper spell effects, then providing new overrides / haks.

I can quite safely say it's a matter of months before this will appear, if not more. It is not priority, nor is it fast to do even if it was.

This was a huge mistake on my part, with some absurd thinking, but we should be able to make few additions with small changes. I was thinking in way that was not necessarily in the least bit.

We will be adding few of the options to druids, but not endurance. That'll do for now, and we'll revise it as time goes. Clerics themselves have different changes in spells they get, via domains and other things. For now, they won't get changed.
