Hamish entered Sanctuary as a simple Mercenary. His tale is quite long and his deeds are many. I shall provide some cliff notes for you.

Hamish was a former Slave raised as a Salt Raider, who quickly made a name for himself in both Upper and Lower. On his second day in sanctuary he managed to uncover a part of the Earth Wheel. Being put in a terrible position he left the fate of the wheel go to chance which favored the deep gnomes that day. For this action, he was exiled from Upper and became a fugitive, albeit a rather wealthy one. His prowess against the Hoard of goblins that had guarded the wheel piece impressed Thomas Alq'vin who gifted Hamish with his shield.

As an outlaw with few allies, Hamish was forced to put aside racial differences. He found himself a fine group of misfits. In his early career this group consisted of: Goblins, Kobolds, Lizard Men, Drow, Were-Creatures, Pale Masters and Mercenaries.

As his reputation for ferocity in battle began to grow, he became a person of interest for the Drow Armada. He was hired by them along side a few others, to build a Mercenary unit that would act as the vanguard for the Armada. Hamish however had different plans. He built their Vanguard, but had no intentions for fighting for them. And so with the help of my dear friends Kauvra, Lupin and Jack --The Hundred Hounds were born.

The Hounds quickly grew in numbers and began their adventures all over the Under Dark. We spent countless hours building up our supplies and preparations for the great battle. When the War Came to Lower, the Hundred Hounds rallied and repelled the invasion, slaying a great many of the Drow Armada's slaves and warriors. We then took to the offensive and sailed to Sapphire Island where we crushed their fleet, killed their captains and returned victorious with a ship of our own and a crew to sail it!

Following the War, the Hounds set to claiming the Docks of Lower and Sailing around the Dark Lake. We had to defend the ship against Big Daves Gang, Spellguard, Watchers and a particularly nasty little fleet of Kobold Pirates that quickly became arch rivals.
When bounties and losses pushed the Hounds out of Lower for a brief time, we took to the dark lake entirely and waged war against the Sahaugin Armies and the Kobold Fleet.

Eventually we returned to lower, where we were forced into a war against the spellguard thanks to their persistent hunts for us. We rallied with the factions of lower and stood to defend their freedom against the evil Uppers. Finally though, in the end they got the drop on Card, Haston and Hamish.
Hamish battled them and chased them away, but not before one of them could subdue and capture Card and Haston. Knowing they were going to die, Hamish challenged the Spellguard Auxillary for their freedom, but it was too late. Haston had already been executed and Card was next. Hamish gave everything he had in the final fight against Auxillary Strahd, but in the end he was not victorious.
He fought with all of the power he could muster until he was subdued and taken to Upper to finally face judgement. After seeing all of his friends die one by one, Hamish knew it was his turn.
In his last moments he thought about all of his dear friends that had been taken from him in this life. He thought of Twitch, of Gabriel, Kauvra, Phiskan, Thorfinn, Emelia, Wyran, Hamir, Tigersoul, Siliander, Tik-Tik, Ilph, Amber, Sulir, Haston, Rorimac, Sidari, Golgor, Jeb, Sazriar and so many others who had met their ends before him. He then though of those he was leaving behind. Of Lupin, Card, Kasi, Zachariah, Tremulous, Rendirk and the many others who had stood beside him. He knew that the only way any of them would ever have freedom, is if he took his stand.
Hamish awoke in the Freedom Plaza surrounded by onlookers. The time had come for his tale to end. As a last request, Hamish was permitted to leave the world the way he entered it. He stripped himself of all of his clothing and possessions save only for his cursed blade. Save only for Bloodthirster.

Shouting for Freedom, Hamish took the satisfaction of his death away from the Watchers. He plunged the wicked blade into his chest and deep into his heart. The great warrior died there on the ground in Freedom Plaza, a testament to the will of a man who would not be shackled!
His spirit made it's way to the fugue realm, though it did not linger there for very long... That which is dead may never die.

It's been a wild ride guys. This character lasted far longer than he likely should have but I enjoyed every second of it. Huge thanks to everyone who impacted him and who helped him along the way! That's it for me for a while. I promised someone that I would begin my campaign on Elder Scrolls Online when Hamish finally died and the time seems to have come. I'll be sad to see the Character go and will miss all of the stories of everyone who was closed to him.
I will return with a new character one day and you can count on it. For now though, it's time for my brief exodus of the server onto something new. Not leaving with any hard feelings against anyone, but instead will be leaving with many fond memories. Thank you everyone for such a great time these past few months and I wish everyone well.
Special thanks to the Hundred Hounds who stood by me for as long as we were around and to the DM team for making it such a thrilling experience!
I'll return from time to time when I am able. Good luck to the Hounds who survived.
R.I.P. Hamish.
That was quite the few months.
A fantastic guy I enjoyed interweaving (on occasion) with my own character. Good work!
I'm always a fan of one who makes noise no matter the methods, and this one sure did it, so I applaud you for that.
Infuriating, charismatic mercenary who RPed dat WIS score very, very well. The Hounds hold a special place in Shiff's heart, being the first group he swore any sort of oath to, largely in part to Hamish's influence. You did things that I couldn't believe anyone would walk away from, and somehow things turned out alright. Good to see that you couldn't be collared even at the end.
Only got to meet him twice in pretty brief circumstances, but each time Esmé was pretty scared and intimidated.
Well done.
o7... Rest well Soldier. It was an honor interacting with you character ; ).
Great job man. Bring tears to my eyes thinking about all the fun time we had late night running quest and fighting around the module.
Looking forward to your next.
Amazing.
Got him started on Twitch and saw him die on Seivjar. I feel a strange sense of pride at the fact I raised you from newbiehood and you did so well for yourself in earning a reputation, bad or good, with your PC.
Hope to see more from you. Well done mate.
Awesome job man. From our first interaction on, we had very solid times together. Took a strong character to drag Kasi into the underworld and keep her there of her own volition.
I*HAD*SO*MANY*FCKING*... plans!
<3 that badass guy
Through three or four characters I got to interact with Hamish and it was an absolute blast.
I can only hope you come up with something half as good for your next character.
Fucking kudos, Blackthorn.
Had quite a few enjoyable interactions with Hamish and crew while I was playing Farvyn. Definitely a character that had a large impact.
D:
<3
Never gonna be another guy like Hamish. I bet people will still speak of him in the ruins with awe and fear in their voices, for a long while yet. The guy was larger than life from day one. It was a real honour to have watched Hamish struggle and overcome, again and again and again. It was so disheartening seeing the path ahead, only an eternity of the same. I can understand why he was so tired of it all in the last month or so.
I know I've told you before, man, but I'll say it again, I am so F'ing proud of you.
~Kauvra
Shit, well done Blackthorn. See you around soon.
Hamish and the Hounds livened up Lower by no small amount. I'll miss being the wet towl in your quest train.
Heroic to the end with no equal.
Captain Hamish.
Let me take a moment to describe how I met Hamish. I was just a welp with stained armor and a safety cloak, a man with everything to prove yet nothing to lose. I took my first quest outside of the shield, an easy one.. one I am sure you are all familiar with. Learning the basics of climbing in EFU. Learning all the new ways that EFU spruced up my favorite childhood game. Upon leaving the quest, I find a group of men standing outside. If only it were that easy.. That group of men.. and a single woman.. changed my entire experience on the server. Kauvra, standing the an ocean of mourning spirits, Lupin, looking me over while knuckling his eye patch, and Hamish.. a man that clearly led the group (according to Kauvra, he "thought" he led the group but she was the real mastermind). This lovely band of merry makers decided to rob me of all my belongings. Well shit. Luckily for me, and unlucky for their pockets I had nothing, so instead they sold me off to High Priestest Emelia of Ghaunadaur. Man, the train of events they led me on. From being apart of signing my name on the original hounds roster to conquering quests that the entire server deemed suicide. From turning half orcs into chickens to accidentally walking in on a private dm event this story has been a laugh page after page. Hell, when it all comes down to it, I was the last hound standing during the drow wars that led to us getting our amazing ship which lets admit, coolest base both idea wise and mechanically on the server for minor factions am I right!? Which brings me to my last point, the DMs. The DMs have been so much fun throughout out time on the server and without their fun and creative ways to torment us into turning that page we would not have made it to where we were. May all remember us as we take the name of the Tigereyes down and put the Hounds ontop.
To my Captain and my Brother, I may not have been with you from the start despite you asking me, but I sure as hell took a long and fun ride with you man. Thank you for getting me back into neverwinter nights like the old times, and thanks for all of the candles you somehow found to keep my spirit up xD So here is a toast to both of our characters, that they may find glory in death that they made in life
To part with the same words I gave Card,
Goodbye, friend
~Haston Sannall; K.I.A.
Haston, Hamish, And Kauvra, Emelia Gravenhearths closest friends and toughest allies.. I'm sad I died so early on before she got to mess some more crap up with you x3 Hamish has to be my favorite pc I've ever seen on EFU and I say damn well done.. I look forward to what you cook up next, and who knows.. Maybe you can ooze out with me someday if you need a concept when I do my next ooze priest in the future ;)
I think that Gabriele, one of my first characters to EfU, helped Hamish get one of his first pieces of loot, and earn himself some Upper infamy. I am sad to see him go, but I hope that whoever remains of the Hounds will be able to carry the Lady Kauvra to further great exploits.
*sighs* From my first meeting with him, to watching him die in the square, Hamish O'neill was one of the awesomest characters around. Constantly messing with my mind, he was a blast to work with.
As I said to Haston, I have this strange feeling we'll meet again...
RIP in peace.
The epitome of a concept that isn't directed turning into something brilliant. A+
You dying in the Shagga quest probably had to do with your end. Sorry dude :(
Great char from the little I knew of him. I definitively saw tendencies towards evil, tough I didn't think he would be CE!

Captain Hamish O'Neill
Had some good times with Hamish when I was running Wyran. Well played, not every barb can say they earned a boat, as a player faction Base! Look forward to your return. ..(having beta'd ESO, I doubt it will be a lengthy break, horrible game..)
Hamish was fun.
I wish I'd had more time to mess with him on Charlie!
Alas, t'was not to be.
Best of fortune on your next!
He got most of the Lower PCs united under him or allied with him, which is no small feat.
Looks like you had some really good times, which is the most important thing.
Also, not retiring him even after dying a lot and losing levels (on a weekly basis :p) is very admirable.
A well-played glory hound and proper adventurer. It was a blast.
When it comes down to it, adventuring is about chaotic evil people killing things, taking their stuff, and bragging about it. Hamish and the Hounds brought life and good characterization to that ideal in a way few others have done.
An excellent example of how a simple concept can turn into a well developed and interesting character. Props.
Very well... I remembher him from drows across my first Kuldjargh Thorfinn, and I can sign the previous post.
A+ from the moment this Drow of mine encouraged (and paid, I think?) you to start up that company with Lupin and Jack to moooonths later, where you were still going on as very succesful characters.
Ilija first met Hamish in Lower, when he was freshly exiled from Sanctuary. He initially charged Hamish an extra fee for his mercenary services, as compensation for any trouble from the law..
They would continue to work together as professional acquaintances, and eventually founded the Hundred Hounds together.
[hide="Partners in Crime"](http://i.imgur.com/f4wl5A6.jpg)[/hide]
Hamish was a passionate leader, he'd often let his emotions get the better of him, but his charm was contagious to those around him and the Hounds in his employ followed without question. Ilija acted as his counsel - the cold, calculative counterbalance to Hamish's hot-headed temper and impulsiveness. I enjoyed playing this dynamic between the duo that formed the Hound's leadership.

Without question, Hamish was among the biggest impacts to Ilija's characterization and the only friend he could trust in the Underdark. Gonna miss plotting our adventures, ducking the law and drinking ourselves blind at the Crone.
We had some good times, Blackthorn. Hope to see you around soon.
Ohhhhh pitchforks. Sumah never got the chance to storm in into whatever terrifying lair he was settled in, absolutely unaware of Hamish' actual rank, attempting to pull his ear at the cry of "O'NEILL, WHAT THE HELL SOLDIER?".
