Title: Wilderness gathering
Post by: Pandip on June 16, 2014, 07:33:08 PM
I think it'd be neat if we could implement an NPC that receives rothe meat and/or various other loot from wandering creatures that can be turned in by wilderness PC's. Preferably something outside the Stewards that's relatively equal in risk/reward to the sort of things we see prominently in Sanctuary and Lower. Something to do with baublium within the Stewards or as an alternative to Sanctuary/Lower could also provide an interesting avenue for additional conflict. As of now, wilderness PC's, particularly non-Stewards, have to struggle to find resources and a safe location after they're kicked out of the prelude area, and this might be able to help alleviate that.

A gathering system like in the old settings would probably invite a lot more players towards nature concepts. They help alleviate downtime and sustain the more lonely lifestyle while also promoting exploration, travel, and aiding in survival.

Yeah....I think this has been suggested a few times (once by myself as well).

Probably something that will be added eventually...whenever that is, on the endless list of scripting jobs is another question though. Nature could really use more stuff to do when you can't find people; which is fairly often with nearly all the server in Sanctuary or Lower and both hubs being so very "unnatural".

Going to bump this. It really feels like an oversight or just a "haven't gotten to it yet" feature for the wilderness side of the server. I used to (and sometimes rarely still do) like to hunt down big beasts like deep lizards and cave bears to skin them and haul them back for a little gold. Moreso than the reward it just feels distinctly wildernessy and I enjoy it a lot for some small "busy work" that makes wandering feel rewarding beyond just finding randoms.

Unfortunately the only source to trade them for some gold/resources is a VERY concept breaking location and I feel dirty every time I do it.

A few additional suggestions in line with the original post of this thread:
