Title: Unlock Social Skills
Post by: Random_White_Guy on June 20, 2014, 05:09:55 AM
I'm not sure how viable this is but EFU has done a lot of amazing things with scripting. WIth the unlocking of PRCs is there any way to unlock social skills for all classes?

Bluff, Persuade, Intimidate.

I don't know about other people but I try to use these on all my PCs in one capacity or another and I just think it's weird that classes like Cleric can't get intimidate for Fire and Brimstone speeches. That Fighters can't get intimidate. That guile sorcerors can't get Bluff. Etc.

Crossclassing them just takes away from the flair I feel like and I don't see why the arbitrary rules of NWN should stop us from having a more sociable set of skills.

Unless of course it's hard coded, then I get that.

Possible with haks.

If the application of such a thing is the only problem, the core skills could be relatively disabled and replaced with efussl skills like how craft weapon and armor are replaced with smelting and so forth.

That way you could take the skills if you still wanted them for rp like craft weapon, but also take them as an efussl alternative. Sort of like how entertainment could be used as a perform skill for a character that's not a bard.

Yes please. Class based social skills are a pain in the ass and hurts character diversity quite a bit.

I'd love if they were available to everyone.

All for this. I agree with the efussl post.

Only thing I see is there will be more actual skill points for stuff like tumble or lore, instead of having to invest in cross-class Persuade. >_>

I still like classes and I like difficulties and cross-class skills to make things harder for some things.

Despite that, I gues I could investigate. I'll discuss it after that with the team. Even if I would do it, don't expect it for weeks, or months. Not a priority for me.

For sure no rush. Just wanted to pitch it.

I'm going to assume that if you roll a 18 charisma ranger it means infinitly more than if you roll a 18 charisma sorceror. Unlocking social skills for all classes is an idea, but I find that while the intention is good, the problem lies within the class system which has all those limitations and there's more than just social skills.

Personally I think certainly like say Intimidate should be on the fighter list, and all three should be on the sorcerors list.

I cant recall how viable without the use of Haks - I do recall there were a set of fires that were able to alter the in game skills without haks... FDA? I dunno, Its been a hell of a long time since I touched toolset.

It is not very viable without haks and I definitely will not start adding it to efuss and other systems.

If it's too prone to issues, not wanted after we discuss it with the team at some point, or just plain too messy and not worth it, then it will not happen. If I find it fairly smooth to add and we weight the options and wants, then maybe it may happen.

That's about all there is to it, not more, not less.
