Hello all. I'm having a bit of a problem with the sounds and voices in my game experience. I think this is the right forum but if it is not I apologize.
Whenever my character or another character speaks, or a door opens, or anything that makes sound makes a sound, it sounds as if the sound is deep within a very echoey cavern. Definitely an odd experience. Any advice?
You probably have EAX activated in your sound options, or are using a sound card (like from Creative) which does virtual EAX. See if disabling that affects the noises.
Those options apply all sorts of weird filters to sounds that make them sound unnatural.
Um... I'm computer retarded. If someone would be kind to walk me through, step by step, like a stupid red-headed step child, through the process of checking that, I'd be greatly appreciative.
When in game, press 'esc' or 'o' key to bring up game options menu. Then click on 'sound options'. There you will find a clickable box with text 'Enable EAX' beside it. If there is a 'x' on that box, click it to turn it off.
Clear enough I hope :)
Thanks Thirsting, but that did not fix the problem. My EAX wasnt on.
If you have a creative sound card, go into your start menu and see if you can find a "Creative" folder, and from there, the "Creative Audio Console." There will be a tab for EAX in there that may or may not also be selected, and if it is, turn it off.
I don't know the steps for other brands of sound cards.
No, dont have a Creative sound card. This is really baffling me...
What sound card do you have?
AC97 I think.
