Title: Crystal Mines Quest
Post by: I can has fun? on March 15, 2009, 03:00:50 PM
This is a pretty cool quest, but there are a few odd bugs.

1. The skeletons are susceptible to critical hits and sneak attacks. They register as "undead" with the ranger tracking tool, so somehow their immunities are not being applied.

2. Something else I can't remember but will post here when it comes to me.

It was the locked door...we unlocked it and when it auto-closed it locked itself. I mentioned it at the time, but I believe that's normal.

Well, that's not a bug.

We have to make stuff auto-lock so the quest has some replay value for other parties who try it out after yours.

Undead issues fixed.

The issue with the auto-lock was that the door shut on us (AFAIK) with no one touching it, locking three of us inside. I'll see if I can reproduce the problem next time I'm in there.

I think they auto close after a set time and relock like Mort said. We just dawdled to long looking for traps XD

If I find time this week (Spring Break!), I have NWN with me so I plan on making major modifications to the quest, notably making it easier. Will see if I can make the door lock without also closing.

Honestly, I loved the difficulty. The boss was perfect. Let me say it again, the boss was perfect. The pitfalls of the quest fit the backstory like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. And the quest rewards, while seemingly minor, are well worth the trouble once a PC figures it all out.

Easier is not better, at least not for this quest. Considering what it gives away, I think this particular quest should actually be as difficult as possible. It could use some sprucing up, but only in terms of filling up the dead space. Other than this bug report, I wouldn't change a thing. Just my opinion.

Well hey, sure. I'll look at it and see how I feel.
