Title: Clerks and Medals
Post by: Haer Dalis 83 on July 12, 2014, 06:53:59 PM
If I'm not mistaken, Clerks have no mean to gain access to medals (especially ribbons) but have among their duties that of seeing the citizens receive said reward, with the result they would have to bother the DMs with silly requests, each time.

More access to medals and ribbons and more free booze in the lounge, please!

Yeap. I don't know how much trust you mean to place in Clerks with distributing medals properly and handling loot, but it is pretty silly that everything about them says "see a Clerk", all the NPCs and high-ranking PCs like Directors and Agents say "see a Clerk", and then the Clerk has to say.. "I dunno, ask a DM?"

I have managed to give out a whole ONE medal successfully, and I wasn't even trying that time. In every other instance I'm left telling people in PMs to bother the DM channel. If a box is too much, some further guidance on exactly how to handle this would be nice.

I have added a cabinet with the medals that can be unlocked by the clerks.

Note that the medal item will be 'tagged' to whoever picks it up, so I guess - until we can find a more elegant solution - you need to let the deserving PC enter into the area and take out the medal himself.

Anyone who grabs all the medals or steals medals or uses medals that they shouldn't have shall face OOC consequences.

There is a solution in place for the licenses in possession of the Spellguard auxiliary, the tenancy authorization forms and the papers to access the red Lantern. I do not know if it can be used for the medals as well, but if it can, it's a possibility.

I'm well aware of how those work and it wouldn't be suitable in this situation.

We could certainly approach it any number of ways but, you know what, I have better things to do! :)

This is working nicely now. A small problem is that we have an awful lot of Copper and Silver ribbons to give out, and only one of them spawns per reset. We'll get through eventually, but it could take a week or two at this rate.

Oh, and there's no Light of Knowledge in the cabinet.
