Title: Spawns flowing out of QA
Post by: Gwydion on March 18, 2009, 06:52:28 PM
I think it would be cool for there to be a chance for spawns to come out of QA areas of the monster type that are in the quest.  Either hanging out near the QA placeable and needing to be defeated when you arrive, or coming out once in a while after the quest is completed.

This would discourage some of the OOCish behavior like:

1.  Buffing after clicking to get the quest and not before you get there.
2.  Divvying up loot near the village, tribe, fortress you just mauled.
3.  Metagaming spells to survive.  i.e., if a orc shaman comes out and shoots a fireball at you just before you enter the QA, you know you need some elemental protection.

I would also like to see groups of spawns travel across wilderness areas to either be avoided or engaged by PCs as they see fit.

Just some ideas.

This is a great idea. Goblins regularly spawn in the Stargazer woods, and whenever I've encountered them before Vrazdn runs, we've RPed it as "Hah, looks like we got their scout". However, this would only really work for wilds quests, unless you want to always find Lotheri Sanq surrounded by dead Brood Keepers for example.

I would suggests that having the odd QA monster regularly spawn near the QA placeable would add some good flavour.

This is a good idea. Remember the trolls quest in the UD? You never knew when a troll or three was going to jump out and gank you if you hung around the entrance too much (or so it always seemed to me!)

Sounds good to me.

How about something like, as soon as you accept a quest [probably don't want it on ALL quests], about every turn [starting a minute after the quest in the journal], a roll is made [1d2 probably], and depending on which it is, a small patrol comes out? I have no idea on how scripting works, though.
