Title: Gwendolen Sumner - Sanctuary's Sweetheart
Post by: cmenden on November 17, 2014, 12:38:27 AM
So Gwendolen finally died, but she had a crazy amount of stuff happen to her beforehand. So much, in fact, that it would take forever to put it all down! So enjoy a few poorly formatted screenshots!

Gwen's first day in Sanctuary:

I was rooting for Gwensenia the whole time, obviously:

One time she had an Aspirant that she gave to Necromancers:

I started thanking people individually, and then I realized that Gwen harassed nearly the entire server at some point or other, so I'll just say "THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY"

See you next time!

Sanctuary's #1 pie eater, mud wrestler, and transmuter!

For a long while she gave Flint plenty to do, so thank you for making a character who created a reason for both he and I to actually have to do some investigative work. Also enjoyed the way they would act polite to one another in their meetings, but it was always a kind of forced civility that masked their mutual hatred of one another.

I wished to interact with her... :(
... never although.

It seemed a great run.

Gwendolen was such an amazing PC I'm going to write something here...

Gwendolen Sumner was probably one of the better Agent PCs we have had this setting (if not the best)- she really made some extremely bold and risky moves and wasn't afraid to put her neck on the line for the sake of her goals and ambitions. I was sad when you became a DM exclusively because I knew it meant I'd be seeing a whole heck of a lot less of her. Abala would definitely not have been the same without her, a trusted and scheming vizier, the perfect role for an SG Agent if you ask me!

I'll always remember "rivvil Jultar"!

She never did the predictable.  And that screenshot of throwing Vendela to the necromancers is just awesome.

Also, what was with that huge bluff score?

Gwendolen was a strong antagonist during my time playing Tacitus. I enjoyed their uneasy relationship which seemed to be constantly teetering on the edge of open opposition. The somewhat humorous professional courtesy that developed between her and Gernfax showed a different side of the character. She certainly made an impact on Sanctuary during her time and had a key role in the story of many PCs.

Greatly enjoyed Gwen. She was the first Agent I got to deeply interact with and I was glad she found Jasmine useful so I could meet with her as much as I did.

On many of my characters, Gwen was the woman that made me feel actual physical dread as I saw her stroll into a situation. "Oh, God. This is all about to go tits up." Still, I thoroughly appreciated the idea behind her. There's so often that temptation to make our characters be great, to know all the things we know and be sharp and logical. I really admired the way you handled her understanding of things. I am honestly not certain I could easily do the same!

Very well done.

The Tower won't be the same without Gwen. She was always a bit of a force of nature, rushing off on impulse to do crazy things without fully thinking them through. Most times, though, they worked out.

I figured I'd add a couple Gwen/Pak screenshots.

The first is trying to get a Ruby Shard from Adrastos, and the second is Pak complaining about it afterwards.

Also, those're some great Gwen/Pak screenshots. Wish I had more of those, because Gwen did spend a lot of time with her "Aide-de-camp"!

An unexpected scene when Abraham Farford the shorter and Adrastos Trouvaille walked into the interrogation room to find Calador Careswell, Gwendolen Sumner, and Danuta Pak...
QuoteCalador Careswell: Farford?
Hlahlisessil-zah: Ah
Adrastos Trouvaille: [He shrugs.]
Calador Careswell: Do you need something?
Hlahlisessil-zah: We had come to answer the bell
Danuta Pak: [She inexplicably lays on the floor on her stomach.]
Gwendolen Sumner: I am here to report criminal activity.
Hlahlisessil-zah: [looks over to Danuta]
Calador Careswell: [Neither Watcher nor Warder seem disturbed by Pak's floorbound status.]
Hlahlisessil-zah: Trouble with your auxiliary?
Calador Careswell: None whatsoever.
Adrastos Trouvaille: [He raises a brow at Pak on the ground, but shrugs slightly.]
Danuta Pak: Pak is never trouble!
Gwendolen Sumner: She is merely showing her loyalty.
Danuta Pak: Oh yes, ever so loyal.
Calador Careswell: Absolute fidelity, yes.
Hlahlisessil-zah: Your technician is quite peculiar, Agent
Calador Careswell: Beautifully unique. Now...
Hlahlisessil-zah: Very well.  If you do not require me, I shall go gather evidence on our newest file.

I liked Gwendolen. She was an exemplary, underhanded agent, pitting enemies against each other and working through intermediaries to see her foes put down. I never could decide whether she was scheming against us or not when helping the Brethren.
