While I enjoy seeing the presence of NPCs, they sort of screw with PVP as PVPing in front of them requires a DM. So if a fight in the wilds were to spill out infront of one of these NPCs, it has to ended per the current rules. This basically equates someone using these guys to escape any sort of non-DM supervised PVP encounter and I am not so certain that is desirable in a group of areas that are supposed to be dangerous.
I've barely ever seen them at all (except for one day where they were in like 3 different area's for some reason), i'm surprised it's been an issue.
They're around very often if you're out and about very often. However, their status of pvp and reaction remains in limbo and has already been asked of in the DM Q&A area.
If so then it needs to be reflected in their description or in some other way.
Quote from: Talir;416063If the NPC is neutral and does not have a description saying specifically that you are allowed to attack them, you are not allowed to attack them without DM oversight. That should be clear enough already.
Talir gave this clarification. This does potentially constrain many areas of the server to require a DM to supervise PVP.
My PC wanders the server a great deal and has come across a lot NPC Ordinant, Myconids, Duergar, Travellers, Svifneblin Traders all over the wilds, all who would require DM supervision should PVP start.
I guess it will make the DM's busier and also mean more stopping of PVP where it starts occurring near them and no DM is about. Unsure this is the desired outcome or not.
He clarified that you cannot attack NPCs if it is not specified that you are allowed to, without DM supervision. No remarks were made about unsupervised PvP nearby these NPCs.

Correct. I presumed it meant you would also need DM supervision for any PVP, absolute clarity from a DM would perhaps be helpful.
