Title: Chosen NPC bounties
Post by: Blue41 on December 16, 2014, 04:53:15 PM
Would it be possible/feasible/wanted if some of the 'named' Chosen NPC's could be turned in for bounties similar to the Society's bounty on aberrations? Perhaps they could drop an item which could be turned in to an Aux of War NPC in Serena Tower for some small reward?

I would like this if this was made as a bounty system for Lower PCs.

Lower would be nice. Perhaps also more bounties on Upper PCs/NPs as well?

I think this is a great suggestion, as it follows ingame events. Serena Tower has been pushing the Pacification Campaign for some time now. It would mean that more PCs would need to interact with the Auxiliary in order to chase such bounties, giving Auxiliary PCs a bit more authority than they currently have, and perhaps add more incentive to join the faction.

For anyone who's been watching, conflict in Upper is at its highest when both the Watchers and Auxiliary are thriving, and politicking from their different perspectives. To me this makes perfect sense, and it supports long-term faction initiatives.

If the Spellguard/Auxiliary want something like this in-game then it's an incredibly simple thing to post an official bounty on Chosen teeth or noses or something on the Public Board and then use their healthy wages as payout.

Same effect, but nothing required DM-side, and as a bonus the PCs turning in the bounty would by necessity have to interact with the Auxiliary.  These sort of interactions are a lot more dynamic if they're purely PC to PC.

Auxiliary don't get a wage, most could never pay for such bounties. Spellguard get one, but an Agent isn't always available.

Possible enough to pursue PC side but it would still lack a nose/tail/fang to turn over as proof. While having PMed screenshots of dead named Chosen would be well and good as a substitute, it's kind of clunky.

The bounty could be turned in to both Lower and Upper authorities. Why not?

As a historical enemy of both sides of the Sanctuary coin, it may make for lovely, violent encounters while hunting the same rats, or serve as a tense but respectfully mutual objective.

Enterprising dukes of scum might even ambush their competitors on the way back to steal the proof of kill, claim the reward.

Unless the Lower "authorities" (I'm guessing you mean the Pissing Crone?) payed in drugs/illicit items/scrap? I don't see how this would make any sense.

Just keep it to Upper and let killing the terrible things that steal their children away in the night be Lower's reward.

Being paid with drugs sounds pretty cool, you know.

What about assassinations? Not ones that wold give the Prestige class. People might want somebody dead for all manner of petty reasons. And these could be lower and even upper citizens.

I can see this getting really dumb, given the grind culture some players permeate.
