For about 5 days now, i've been getting lag, a PING doubling for EfUA, and a few crashes, which i had never had since the switch to the new server. Nothing on my client side seems to explain it. Am i the only one in this case, or does anyone else have noticed this lately?
I havn't noticed any issues.
Yes. It's a system recently implemented on all questsys that seem to be causing this when the server is up for more than 24 hours. (or so we believe).
We'll be fixing this shortly!
I seem to only have this issue when there are 40+ people on the server. During the day (USA time) when the player count is around 15-20 I have not had an issue.
Roundabouts where do you live, LPFF? What part of the US? Outside the US?
I'm in France, near Paris.
It's been worse for me as well, in Colorado, USA
Netherlands, Europe, Earth.
Pretty bad! I would be much obliged if this was fixed.
I have noticed increased lag lately as well, but didn't think to comment on it as I assumed it was my poor rig struggling with the 1.69 induced choking.

I was on a similar line of thinking.
Well, over the last 3 or 4 days, there WERE those tournement games that had 40+ players in the same area. Slowness then would have been difficult to avoid. That's one consideration...
I will pipe in and say it was strange. In Red Eleint, we had large scale events with no lag, and 30+ players participating along with hundreds of NPCs. Suddenly, the server begins to lag. Maybe we've overburdened it with resources.
I've been having lag.
this is in areas with no people, and where I am fighting Mist Ogres with Rethiek.
I ignore lag for the most part, But I have noticed an increase over the last week.
It would be so helpful if people would explain if they are getting latency issues (i.e. serverside lag, things pause and delay and you skip around and have trouble picking through conversations) vs. FPS-issues with their personal PC and our more intensive areas (i.e. the screen stutters for a moment, NWN as a whole feels choppy).
It absolutely boggles my mind that people who spend this amount of time on a computer don't seem to realize the difference between the two.
It's server side latency issues such as those you mentioned, and monsters jumping around as they move or being stuck in place ready to attack, but not moving.
I run a very high end machine and build them as a side job, no FPS issues at all

I got a good rig too...same issue. At times the latency is so bad I fear playing certain characters for fear an ill timed double crit will end me!
I have always had issues with this due to the generally high ping in Alaska, and the fact that our university insists on running a firewall that can't quite keep up with the traffic, but I have noticed an increase in problems like this lately (been going on for about 8 days for me).

Horrible, innit.
To be honest, my computer is now 7 years old, but I am nevertheless able to set the graphics so I get no framerate issues, other than the occasional jam-up that happens when NWN has to render lots of creatures at once (the thing that used to cause crashes, but, luckily, not anymore!).
No, it's really latency issues. My connection isn't that fast (1.5 Mb/s), but it's been a lot less horrible than it is now.
To be honest I basically get no problems, but we'll see what we can do make things speedier.
A few days ago I had a brief sputter of lag, but moments later Mort said he was resetting to fix lag issues, so I guess its nothing out of the ordinary
I'm not on my regular PC 'till tuesday, I'll get back to you on it then.
Unless I'm mistaken, I think server performance is much better, no?
Sure is!
Thanks!
At least i'm not alone.
I too have gotten lag issues, not only when there is much people, but at any time (last time, there where 14 people) also, it appears lowergin the texture detail helps.. must be that it's a combination of my PC graphic lag and the server's (because it's not resloved this way)
Well, that seems to be on your side if lowering texture helps! We have lots of placeable, so we are heavy on the graphic side, but it's not due to the server's performance which to my knowledge has gone back to its usual standards.
Things are nearly back to normal as far as i'm concerned.
