I've been getting some reports there might have been some unintended side effects with the Lair update. Currently unable to log into NWN though to check out the actual damage I might have done. Unsure if the whole lair system is bugging or just some of them (mainly the ones I was actually updating) but would appriciate any feedback on the following:
Basically, which lairs seem to have been "reseted"?
Which lairs seem to be working just fine?
Also if you have been able to see the new stuff added I'd appreciate Lair name and some non-spoilerish remark about them too so I know if at least the updates are functioning as intended. Although only couple have Tier 1 upgrades so if all have been reseted...
Myconid Grove has 'reset'. We were at tier 4 with roughly 35000 lair points.
PRELIMINARY UPDATE: Dwarf Hold
Name of Hold on OOC: Lair Guidlines placeable went from: " : Dwarf Fortress : " to " Monster Lair " and any Dwarven theme it may have had has gone to a generic theme. No NPCs at all. Mushrooms growing everywhere. Also lost all Lair Points. Previously at Tier 2 or 3 [need help on this number from faction members] we had 13500+ points [need better number, likely higher (15000+?)].
To edit Heavyfogs number, our hold last I checked was at 14500 points. The hold was at tier 3 aswell.
The hold is owned by the Dawnrise Brigade.
I've managed to find out the problem and hopefully fixed it for next reset. Seemingly all the lairs were reseted to stage 1 in the process of my updating and there might have been some other minor issues too. I'll see to them as soon as I have time.
Unfortunately though, we cannot refund any lair points because we cannot verify how many points you had before this incident. There even seems to be confusion amongst the lair owners on how many points you had. I've also received some reports from players that they do not remember how many points they had so it is best for all lair owners if everyone gets an equal treatment.
I know this sucks majorly so I thought to reveal few of the updates for higher tiers that I added. Something to look forward to when you get your lair back into shape:
Beast Lair - Exclusive Animal companion shop and training grounds. Small chance to generate extremely rare companions for sale on each reset, not easily (or at all) available otherwise.
Crypt Lair - Sripted soulcatcher chamber that the lair owner/s may use on subdued or willing PCs and NPCs. Effects of this are best left to be learned IG.
Dunwarren Lair - Multiple minigames that can be initiated with svirfneblin puzzle animatron.
Dwarf Fortress - Custom crafting system where lair owners may create dwarven themed armours and weapons. Give minor enchantments to the custom made equipment (must be a wizard, sorcerer, bard and/or cleric)
Myconid Lair - Mushroom/plant crafting system which allows you to adaptively change the outlook of your lair, sometimes giving extra lair functions too.
Scum Lair - Rogue's Wheel: Essentially a wheel of fortune with high risks/high rewards and lots of variability. Also a new bounty system. Lair owners (and their guests) may initiate pursuing bounties when they periodically become available. Unlike upper bounties, these are mostly shady jobs. For instance muggings and intrusions to upper sanctuary homes.
Each lair (except Scum lair, see bounty system above) now has a unique scripted quest that can be taken after each reset by the lair owners and their guests. Quests become first available at Tier 2.
I hope these will be worth labouring for. Report any further bugs and issues here.
April fools? :P
The Dwarf Fortress is still at tier 1 and has not fixed. Hopefully this can be changed?
Lair points was at 14500.
Alright, these bugs are just multiplying as fast as I try to fix them. I should've known before starting this project that scripting isn't my cup of tea. I can't be around in efu for a good while so next reset should be reverting the lair system back to what it was before my update. Hopefully it fixes all lair bugs and issues.
I'm not completely abandoning the ideas I had though and I may be returning to work on them later when I might have more time to fully implement them.
This is totally worth laboring over the points for, infact, makes it all the better, let us know what we can do OOC to help, I am sure someone might know a bit about scripting? (Not me) but these are all well worth seeing done.
Thanks for the effort, San Telmo!
