So currently poison weapon requires a full round to apply to a weapon or two rounds for two weapons. Additionally it triggers a sound effect people can hear even if they can't see you and the act of poisoning your weapon also requires dropping stealth.
Poisons are OK (even with the poisoner perk the duration is a bit short) but the time required to apply is really what makes it unwieldy. You have to spend 1-2 rounds applying, then have to hit, then a chance to trigger the poison on contact, then they have to fail the save to even get any value out of the time+resources spent poisoning your weapon.
If you could apply poisons to your weapon via a player tool so that it triggers no sound effect, allows you to remain stealthed and can be done instantly without giving up a round it would actually be pretty nice to make them more attractive and useful in situations you would want to use them.
Maybe something as simple as allowing the duration's of multiple applications to stack would make this more usable. Then you could layer on a bunch of it, and go visit your shenanigans on whomever in confidence knowing that it'll last awhile.
Would be nice to have a check in place to do it as a player tool or whatnot
Would be nice to see poison used more often, extended duration as a whole would be good, also a player tool wouldn't be a bad idea. 1 turn would be nice.
Having just retired a poison-user this would have been amazing. Was such a pain to use, especially as a duel-wielder. It's very difficult/dangerous to use reactively, and actually takes some good planning to use effectively in an ambush. I found I used it far more in PvE as I had the time and back-up help to use it effectively.
This should be in for next reset. Please let me know of any bugs immediately. Currently it is a tool everyone can use along the same lines as use poison is regularly, but this may change.
First you have to target the poison vial you want to use. Then you have to target your weapon.
So... is this an update adding the player tool or has the duration been changed as well?
Either way, this is so awesome Talir, EfU poisons are pretty amazing but have long been difficult to use. I know Granny is going to be hyped.
Duration is unchanged.

Necromancing this topic to suggest a small addition to the very cool tool that was added for poisons.
Could the name of it be changed to "coat weapon", and could alchemists fire be added to the things it can apply?
As an added note to this, AFAIK it can not be used on arrows/bolts, would be nice if it could be.
The poison that is.
Poison can already be used on arrows, bolts and -- for some reason -- bullets.
