I think it would be pretty cool if PCs had access to a playertool and/or /c command that would allow them to NAME their crafted objects via potion breweing, wand crafting, or alchemy/herbalism/cooking. It would allow the PCS to individualize their cool crafted stuff.
It could even spark conflicts as stuff could be 'recognized' easier as someone elses, maybe even giving an indication of robbery or looting!
I'd just rename any stuff I stole and nobody would notice.

You seem to be rather missing the point.
However! I think this idea may actually be putting a little too much faith in the Playerbase to not act silly.
Stacks of Cure Serious Wounds potions named "Powerful Moonbrew" by a Selunite cleric would be cool.
Stacks of Resistance potions named "some beer" would not.
The problem with the system as proposed is that there's no way to regulate it.
Like how you can't just put in, 'LOL I USED HAXORZ DUDES LOOK OVER HERE' in your description?
I don't really think it would be abused, since most -dedicated- crafters are usually played by players who have been around enough to know better >.>
Either way, it could depend on the crafter themselves, maybe need to be wanded before being able to use the Naming system >.>
Don't want.

This actually was my point, so I don't think I was actually all that far off.
To Reiterate:
This system would ONLY work on crafted items (wands, potions, alchemy/herbalism/cooking) that the crafter themselves made.
So you wouldn't be able to like steal a bastard sword named "Porlkot's sword" and name it "Iron bastard sword".
It could either be DM wanding required to use it, or easily dm wanded to disable it, if abused.
