Title: Wanded domains not staying put over relogs
Post by: MrGrendel on April 28, 2009, 12:24:19 AM
One of my characters has domains the deity does not normally grant, and has been wanded (on two different occasions) to be able to still cast with them. Upon wanding everything works just fine, until I re-log. (I don't think there was a reset inbetween, since I logged off at an odd spot, and when I returned, was still there.) Once I relog, my character once again gets the divine spellcasting error message, that I have domains my deity does not grant and will not be able to cast, and I get the divine spellfailure message upon casting, as well. The spells then fail, of course. Howland suggested perhaps the wanding effect was not persistent, and that I should report it.

Edit: Efusl does report having two domains, and they both show on my character sheet.

The issue is that, apparently, the DM widget does not set the variable for overriding your spellfailure. The variable does (or did) work, however. A DM that is willing to look it up and meet you IG can set its value to 1, targeting your character token. Your character will then be exempt from spellfailure.

The widget should probably be updated, too.

Now, right after being wanded, I was able to cast fine. (Wasn't sure I stated that clearly or not.) It wasn't until after a re-log that I couldn't cast again.

Edit: Random thought, could there be a problem with the tokens?

Edit 2: Oh, I see what you mean, I think. The DM widget is removing the spellfailure condition, allowing one to cast, but the script that re-applies it when you log in isn't affected by whatever the widget does.

This is controlled by multiple variables. The raw spellfailure % value is changed by the widget. The variable that basically says, "don't re-calculate my spellfailure" is not being set by the widget.

Hm. Has the tool been fixed? Though nothing has changed for my cleric in question as of now, my barbarian gets a nice little message on log-in, saying he is exempt from divine spellcaster validation. XD
