On Thursday 9pm EST (https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?p0=263&iso=20190912T21&msg=Prelude%3a%20The%20Ziggurats%20of%20Szka%27zul) I will be running a prelude for interested players. Players will be portraying the enslaved residents of "The Ziggurats of Szka'zul," which is one of the remaining Lizardfolk Settlements that endure within the many Rings of our City.

Characters should generally have a Forgotten Realms background before awakening and being enslaved by the Lizardfolk, or possibly as having been born into slavery within the crumbled and much diminished ziggurats of the Lizardfolk.

Feel free to consult with me about any special concept or if you have any questions.

Feel free to make throwaways for this.

BE THERE... IF YOU DARE.

Players who are confident that their concept for this will become their new main character are welcome to PM me on discord with some details about the concept/build. If I have time I would like to give your PC a small custom piece of loot that enhances the concept, however I would only like to do so for characters that will continue on as real characters and not be dropped immediately.

Some details for players that will be participating in the prelude:

Your characters, long residents of the Szka'zul Ziggurats, are being prepared  for a long-rumored off major ritual that is being undertaken. The exact nature of the ritual is unknown to you, but you know that your Masters have long been working on something big. Indeed, it is said that the feared Specialist Sithra has recently returned from travel deep in the Rings bearing with her something called "The Eye of the Serpent" that was the final ingredient for the Ritual.

One among you, calling herself the Nameless Slave, has made known to the rest of you that you should all be ready for anything....

With long experience in the slave-pens of the Ziggurats, you each know something of your Masters.... here are some details:

Quote

Szka'zul the Second Scale, High Priest of the Sublime Empress

Clad in an ornate set of of ancient dragon-mail and clutching a Scepter from the Imperial Court of the old Lizardfolk Empire, Master Szka'zul is the unquestioned leader of the Ziggurats. It is unclear if Szka'zul is fully mummified or simply prolongs his long life through regular sacrifice. He is feared by all.

Specialist Sithra

Lean and angular, Specialist Sithra is a master rogue who has personally passed through many of the Rings . She wields a distinctive glaive and possesses a large variety of traps, powders, nets, tangle chains, and curious relics that make her an unpredictable and highly dangerous foe. She is known to greatly enjoy the difficult challenges set to her by Master Szka'zul.

Ks'k the Emissary

Clad in garments and robes of the richest and most luxurious quality, the perfumed and bejeweled Ks'k is very strange for a Lizardfolk. He seems to have a debauched interest for the culture and ways of warmbloods and even enthusiastically tries to adopt "true" warmblood ways. He eagerly collects objects of human and demi-human civilizations, and unnecessarily wears a collection of eye-glasses.

He often prowls about the slave-pens and asks gentle, probing questions to the slaves in a seemingly friendly manner.

Warlord Yozkhiss

Enormous, stupid, and utterly loyal to Master Szka'zul. The Warlord is the feared Generalissimo  of the Lizardfolk Troops, and is a blunt instrument of destruction.

Overseer Thrizzk

The cruel and clever Overseer Thrizzk watches over the slaves of the Ziggurats. He wields a cruel whip and is hated by the slaves for his cruelty and knack for predicting escapes and treachery. It is whispered that the Overseer despises his position as he considers it unworthy of his great talents. Yet it can not be doubted that he is a master of the art of coaxing the greatest effort from the slaves and ensuring their obedience.
