Messages - Dugs

#31
Three days, four fights, one head. I will be a threat to this well, they will fear me as they do Fowabo, and as they did Vico.

Fight One : Emiliana and I were in the gutters when we were ambushed by three men, some Bandaged man who called himself Nasferatu, nonsensical. A halfling, and some cleric of the Wroth accompanied him. In the 3 vs 2 skirmish, I managed to putdown the Unholy-man, though we flee'd at this time.

Fight Two : Condottiero Paolina tasked myself, Emiliana and Ottavio with dispatching a man in Qadira, unfortunately there was a mishap, our Condottieri had said Bianchini, Fat, Bald. Not realizing Bianchini was the name, not a descriptor we had went, and there we found a fat, bald, pale man. After Emiliana paid off the locals, a quick sweep of the area showed no fruit of other men that fit the description. I engaged the fat-man and took him down in but three swings, I am not paid to kill men honorably, I will slit their throats whilst they sleep, if I must.

Fight Three : Recluta Blackadder approached me and said the Condottiero was not happy with her scolding of us for messing up the job, and that he was instructed to beat those involved down... His mistake was asking for me to make it a fight. The Dwarf and I fought for a few minutes, his War-Mace against my Greatsword... I put him down and rolled him over, for there was no bad blood. It was simply business, as far as anyone else knows, the message was received.

Fight Four : In truth, this was the easiest of the Four, there was an elf in our Barracks who was banned from the premisis, Recluta Blackadder, Ottavio and... I don't remember the last one, were entertaining her wishes to join our band. If you ask me, there are to many of us as is, perhaps I should have been killed for my failure, but... I wasn't. I'll find that fat fuck someday, no rat can hide forever.

Takeaways :

Fight One : Supply issue, while they fully enchanted and ready to fight, Emiliana and I had to make due with what we had, we fought well, she has common sense in such places.

Fight Two: I had my doubts that this man was the man we sought, when I'd brought it up, my fellow Recluta said that I misheard, that the man was fat *like* a modini, when in fact we were looking for a Fat Modini. I should have affirmed my position, a mistake I will not make again.

Fight Three : I underestimated Blackadders hide, I believe I had more in the way of valuable potions than he did, and this is what won me this battle. If we were to fight on even footing, I would be wise to use more powerful things earlier on.

Fight Four : It is time to delve into our Records, even though I was the first to swing on this Elf, I underestimated her too, she was more nimble than expected, but she ultimately was no true match. Had I been more aware of who is and isn't banned, I could have stated the assault much earlier.

Dear Mr. al-Hamdan,

I extend my gratitude for the opportunity to showcase "Echoes of Starlight" within the pages of your esteemed publication. As previously agreed upon, we have secured a half-page slot for our advertisement, and I am taking this moment to furnish you with the necessary particulars for this presentation.

"Echoes of Starlight" stands as a narrative-driven opera, brimming with romance and intrigue. The tale unfurls around a captivating love story that boldly challenges societal conventions, all set against a backdrop of vibrant and ever-evolving landscapes. Our objective is to craft a production that resonates with the themes of passion, conflict, and the unyielding pursuit of destiny.

As we embark on this operatic journey, we eagerly welcome the participation of talented individuals to fill various roles essential to our vision. This encompasses the main characters, the ensemble, the musicians, and the dedicated production team. Those who wish to engage with this endeavor are encouraged to contact me directly, or rendezvous with me, Balladeer Roderick Fischer, at the Krak Des Roses.

The perfect visual representation should encapsulate the core of our romantic and dramatic narrative, possibly incorporating elements that symbolize love's triumph against adversity.

Your cooperation in this venture is profoundly valued, and we are thrilled about the potential impact of this feature on the overall success of our project.

Once more, I extend my heartfelt thanks for your support. Please do not hesitate to reach out should you require any further details or clarifications.

Laughter's Guardian: A Jestful Night in Ephia's Well

In the bustling streets of Ephia's Well, where tales unfold,
Lived the Guardian of Girth, with a heart of gold.
His armor gleamed, a beacon of might,
A stout defender in the soft moonlight.

One eve, a band of rogues, with mischief in their eyes,
Decided to test the Guardian's size.
They sought to challenge his legendary girth,
Little knowing he'd defend the humble hearth.

The rogues approached, sly grins on their faces,
Unaware they'd entered weighty embraces.
The Guardian stood, a mountain in their way,
His laughter echoing, a jolly display.

"Challenge accepted!" the Guardian proclaimed,
As the rogues hesitated, slightly ashamed.
A game of wits, a contest of jest,
To determine who among them was the best.

They told jokes and tales, a humorous feat,
But the Guardian's laughter, no one could beat.
In the end, amidst laughter and mirth,
The rogues bowed to the Guardian of Girth.

A lesson learned in the Well that night,
Size isn't everything, but laughter's might.
The Guardian, a hero of jest and glee,
In Ephia's Well, for all to see.

Dear Candidates,

As a voice within the Well, nurtured by the waters of Mother B'aara, I find myself compelled to seek insight into your aspirations for our beloved community. Your responses will be shared publicly in the League of White offices to inform the electorate.

1. Immediate Initiatives: In your first 30 days of office, what specific actions do you plan to undertake? I am keen to understand the tangible, immediate impact you aim to achieve.

2. Allotment Stand: What are your perspectives on the current allotment system? The notion of "equal allotments" has proven tedious under Marcellus' rule. Do you envision maintaining the status quo or introducing reforms?

3. Refugee Welfare: Addressing the influx of refugees, particularly the sick and poor, is a pressing concern. Given the challenges in the Rose district talks, what alternative plans or strategies do you propose to alleviate the plight of those seeking refuge within our gates?

Your thoughtful responses will guide the electorate in making informed decisions. I appreciate your time and commitment to the future of Ephia's Well.

Live and drink,
Balladeer Roderick Fischer

Note: I understand time is not on my side; I had thought I would have a week or two to form these, but I believe this is a good enough starting point.

Journal Entry: 1

In the quiet solitude of my chamber, surrounded by the echoes of Ephia's Well, I find myself compelled to pour the tempest of emotions onto these pages. The weight of my own imperfections bears down on me, a relentless burden that the tower, in its enigmatic wisdom, has chosen me to carry. A champion, a paladin, tasked with the daunting duty of healing wounds and rebuilding bridges.

Aurelio's betrayal still lingers in the air, an acrid taste on my tongue. How can I embrace the idea of forgiveness when the wounds are so fresh? His loyalty now professed feels like a fragile facade, and I grapple with the conflicting emotions that swirl within me. Can I truly trust him with the vulnerabilities I've guarded so fiercely?

Amelie, once a steadfast companion, now feels like a distant enigma. The camaraderie we once shared has been replaced by an unspoken tension, a silent game where the rules elude my understanding. The soul I thought was mine to safeguard now seems to dance on the precipice of an unknown bargain.

Within the sisterhood, complexity weaves through every interaction. Samira's words, while meant to uplift, serve as a stark reminder of the broken pieces I grapple with internally. The eyes, now cursed to unveil the true nature of those around me, reflect the price of the bloodshed I've wrought.

As the Lillie Tor beckons for the restoration of a grove, I am left questioning the very fabric of my purpose. Can a fractured soul like mine truly mend what lies in ruin? The grand design of the tower remains an elusive puzzle, and I find myself adrift in a sea of uncertainty.

The tower's whispers resonate with the weight of expectation, and I wonder if I am merely an imperfect instrument, stumbling through a symphony I can barely comprehend. In the solitude of my chamber, the emotional tempest rages on, and I am left to navigate the turbulent sea of my own doubts.

Dear Rosie,

In the span of just one day, the people of the Well have come together, and we've amassed a remarkable total of 3,100 dinars! The enthusiasm and generosity displayed by our fellow Ephians are truly heartening. Now, I turn to you for guidance on the best course of action to ensure these funds reach their intended destination and make a meaningful impact. Your wisdom and experience in such matters would be invaluable in steering this collective effort toward success. Let us continue to strive together in our pursuit of goodness.

Eagerly awaiting your counsel,

Dear Deputy Chief Scribe al-Samar,

I must express my confusion upon receiving your letter, as the intricacies of the accords elude me, and I find no comprehensive documentation to clarify matters. Nevertheless, my understanding is that we retain the right to escort individuals out of our esteemed castle. Elossi, in her wisdom, has enlisted the services of Fifty Dinar Dan (if my memory serves me right), and the Banda Rossa boasts its own guards. Furthermore, in a recent conversation with Lieutenant Skarn, he emphasized that the Krak De Roses is a gift to us, the Cinquefoil Rose. He suggested that the Janissaries need not concern themselves excessively with our affairs. It is my understanding that the Janissaries' authority within the castle is limited compared to their rights in the Well proper, as stipulated by the accords.

I harbor no desire for conflict or bloodshed; I merely seek the peace to indulge in my wines and inspire the denizens of Ephia's Well to aspire to greatness. The Legion's apparent preoccupation with maintaining order in the Krak, where peace has been upheld for years, perplexes me. Nevertheless, we remain committed to upholding tranquility within our walls.

Wishing you the best,

Balladeer Roderick Fischer

Dear Rosie,

I extend this missive in the hope that your wisdom might illuminate my path. Though I have long proclaimed my commitment to being a bulwark for those in need, I find myself yearning for more meaningful contributions. Today, a compassionate priestess of B'aara approached me with the prospect of revitalizing the Almshouse. I am eager to collaborate on this endeavor, or if they decline, to redirect our efforts toward another deserving cause. Together, let us strive to bring tangible and positive change. Should you have any initiatives in mind where my assistance would be beneficial, do not hesitate to ask. I stand ready to join hands in the pursuit of goodness. Live and drink.

Sincerely,
Balladeer Roderick Fischer

Esteemed Lillie Knight,

I humbly extend my sincerest apologies for the unwarranted approach I took during our initial encounter. It pains me to admit that my actions were born from a place of misplaced pride and misunderstanding. In failing to recognize your steadfast dedication to our shared cause, I overlooked the valuable contribution you bring to our collective purpose.

Regrettably, I allowed my ego to cloud my judgment, perceiving your commitment as a personal affront rather than a commendable boon to our noble mission. It's important to acknowledge that my journey with such solemn oaths is a recent one, and the profound impact they have had on my life is something I hadn't experienced before.

In defending the sanctity of our shared oath, I failed to see you not as a rival but as an equal, recognized and esteemed by the Lillie Tor. It is my earnest hope that you find it within yourself to accept this apology. Let us move forward with a newfound understanding, embracing the unity that our shared purpose promises. As fellow Knights of the Lillie Tor, may we work together harmoniously, sowing the seeds of goodwill and reaping the abundant fruits of our collective endeavors.

With heartfelt regards,

Roderick Fischer

Dear Riccardo Corvo,

I received your letter and appreciate your attempt at clarification. Misunderstandings can indeed happen, especially in a city as diverse as ours. I accept your apology for the confusion regarding the nature of my knighthood. The customs and traditions of the Lillie Tor might be unfamiliar to those not associated with our order.

I would like to believe that this incident was indeed a misunderstanding, and I appreciate your acknowledgment of the situation. However, your actions, albeit born of confusion, did cause a disruption. To resolve this matter, I propose a gesture of goodwill.

As a display of sincerity and to benefit the community, I kindly ask you to make a donation of five hundred dinars to the Almshouse. This establishment plays a crucial role in providing aid to those in need, and such a contribution would help support their noble cause. Should you choose to make this donation, please inform me, and I will personally match it. This collective effort will demonstrate our commitment to fostering goodwill and unity within our community.

Let us put this incident behind us and move forward with shared purpose. The restoration of the garden and the pursuit of noble dreams are endeavors we can all contribute to, irrespective of our backgrounds.

Regards,

Balladeer Roderick Fischer

Alejandro,

I'd be delighted to attend the Feast of B'aara and share one of my Tales with the audience. Your kind words about my stories warm my heart, and I'm honored to represent the College's artistry.

I appreciate your advice on keeping it short and sweet. I'll craft a tale that will captivate the audience without overstaying its welcome. I look forward to the event and the opportunity to entertain our fellow Ephians.

Best of luck with your other letters, and may the Feast of B'aara be a resounding success.

Yours,
