Make evil app only and give all players 30 second pause items to be used liberally. I was in no way involved with this conflict. I think it should be cool for PC's to ask for a pause but i'd be even more supportive of an OOC pause item.

Quote from: Guttersnipe;316173It's not so much the darkness that's the problem as all the little things that seem to lay in some of those hallways and you keep running into despite heading the correct way, etc..

I rather like the darkness myself, I don't like the random things you keep running into. What might help isn't so much removing the darkness, but instead lifting the darkness at corners and doorways so you can maneuver at those places which are the most difficult. If you could see at these points then maneuvering wouldn't be as much as a chore as it often is.

Addition: As for the other effects, using a *spoiler* wards them off but the tremors that cause you to lose your *spoiler* tend to come too frequently to make then useful for anything other than quickly moving through. Therefore, make the tremors much less frequent and people will have a more sure means to ward off the curse and roleplay inside the darker areas of the Old Stones.

Now this doesn't help those PCs who wouldn't use a torch, admittedly, but maybe for those who earn it something could be created so that those PCs become effectively immune? For instance, the rogue perk "Shadow" could potentially make PCs immune.

Didn't read this, heh. OOC i assumed it was either torch or anything with "normal" light, as opposed to simply the torch which produces normal light. I wonder if ultravision works for this, clairaudience etc. It would be neat if it worked beyond the simple torch but due to scripting i am in doubt. Would appreciate a DM's opinion on this specific issue.

Unsure about this, i've not spent much time there. I was under the impression that weilding a torch protected you from the curse, the urchin children and Higgins, not to get too spoilerized. I had spent a pretty long time down there though not longer than an hour in general.

I know it's unlikely that the others haven't figured this out so i assume i'm lucky. I've only once "blacked out" and i ascribed that to having no torch.

I agree that confusion around the NPC's without DM supervision is probably an accident or oversight, that should be changed to a DM spice rather than ambient effect.

The invasions were great fun... bring them back i'd say, the more the merrier i'd say unless restrained by technical issues. It's good as well for different factions to have different invasions or events they can get into. Anyone remember Father Mororn's sendings of the troll invasion and defense of Mistlocke while many were away fighting the Comitals... Funny!

Drink potions fight

If you see you are "injured" run

Do what you think your character would do, the speed of things make it more tasking but you can compensate by being more liberal with your consumables. You can guesstimate hits before you die... again if you are injured, you might die.

Try playing a character that will "only live once," (fugue respawning at least) I've decided to do that with all my future characters, and it's alot more exciting. Every moment could be your death, and some of my most memorable moments have been people dying in quests, etc.

FTT Hertostrat was a pretty legendary character, i like playing religious characters, just remember IC you've been pulled into a scum nest for all intents and purposes, it's like a horror movie. (try playing a character with detect evil)

Best send off for true heroes... sad to see you go. The Dwarven Hold is a really great faction... i strongly suggest you to roll up a gnome or dwarf of any kind... (within reason for gods sakes) always good fun... Super cast of characters on there...

All the best to Gloin, Dorin, Gram, King Dalgad, Bakesman Tendermuffin, damn the whole nine yards, Bartha, Thorgrimm, Thordzan, Archippos, Teli, damn... i hope i dont forget anyone, Durgrim... Seriously awesome clan...

Yes, i also shout out to all the Manus's, what were there, like 10?

Hah, awesome clan, props to anyone i don't know or just barely met... Seriously, good clan...

Thank you all... from gab1 aka incrediblyintelligent...

Yes, I read through the Crusaders Zeal perk and actually reckoned it worse than default turn undead...

Lion's heart, Man of Faith, both very weak compared to other perks.

Lion's heart is the only one i've found 'useful' in my ascertations, and it's still very weak, compared to a few other obvious ones.

I'm all for these perks, i think they are the holiest thing since sliced bread, just would suggest balancing them a little.

Invisible cheese?

Disguises?

I doubt the lone NPC would stop you, unless the DM's said otherwise, etc...

Also, this is just a grand stage and a play, in my opinion. When you sign on to a group at war, the contract of death has been signed. It is, just the way of the game. You are playing a character, not being killed, and all characters time must end, even anticlimactic endings, what story would be fit without an anticlimactic ending for some? At least make the best of it, revel in the irony... and the glory of it all, impress your suitors.

You will have stated your testament... to be great even when faced with dramatic anticlimactic and clearly and even fatedly unbeatable odds.

All you guys have great characters, but it is really just a story and a play man, lol...

I think kill on sight is a good thing. Personally. (though i am not involved with any of the current events really being discussed)

It brings more action packedness to the server.

If you didn't want to be killed on sight by your enemy you probably wouldnt make open statements about things, like 'Im an evil necromancer' or join a faction that is at war with another faction.

I think the heatedness and the split second moment reflexes add to things.

I remember my time with the Dominion, scouting the alleyways with the Stygians. I think it was obvious that we were prepared for someone to kill us at any moment.

I also dont think this should be the mentality for the general playerbase, to behave around people they dont know.

But those people who willingly got involved in a war, a fued, and army, etc...

Idk, just my opinion, but i think we all share the same OOC courtesy to not FD grief people. Ie, at random like a lucky gank in the alleys, which i have been both the victim and progenitor of.

I also think people shouldnt openly state thier ambitions unless they want the reprocussions of them, basically. Look at Mannichus, he's survived so long because of that reason, maybe, debatably (?) lol

Well, there are a few more tips i could give.

Try to estimate how many hits you have left, whether you have two hits or one left. It kind of becomes second nature, and i think i am good at such on the fly estimations, and other may be better at other sides of things.

This is a big thing that has helped me, especially in quests as well. I know if i'm within that 'two hit range'... then i'm already dead, and any chance of survival is merely that, a miraculous escape.

I've died so many time from ignoring this. Also, this effects spars, as in, the two hit range is usually about one critical. Plus axes are devastating, and can kill you in one critical if you are about half health, or maybe even worse.

Also, there is the idea of 'potion guzzling vs getting smacked to death'... sometimes you get stuck in a portion of the battle, that if you want to drink a potion, you get continually smacked back down to the health you were before, and must continually queue up potions of healing in hopes he eventually starts missing his AoO.

It happens... Hrm... i think there are others... but the two hit thing is key in my book.

Ask someone IC about what they reccomened to chug during a fight, even better, someone you just saw in a fight. I'm sure they will help you with good advice.

On a more serious and helpful note, you should read more about spells... at nwn.wikia.com or somewhere else...

Also, after watching at least one PVP duel, you should have it all down pat.

Its not that complicated at all, in fact, a simple person who randomly mashes his potion buttons would probably be able to stand tall against one who is organized, and knows all about NwN and DnD. Again its really not as much as a disadvantage as you see.

Being slow to click though, that could be a serious disadvantage, only because this is a real-time game... Not a take your turn for as long as you want style game...

Anyway, :P all the best, and i hope to spar or duel some of your characters some day, heh, its not difficult at all...
