What a ridiculous notion Seanzie...

No, the reason for this is to identify the wretched little quirk int he system, that seems to be associated with NPCs and dispels. it is simply impossible to dispel NPCs such as the Whisper of Shargaas, Chosen of Gaathmar. If you've tried to dispel them on a level 9 caster, you'd know not to even bother as it consistently only dispels 1 or 2 buffs.

Nor would it alter the chances of dispelling a normal PC.

Make these visible to the player so that they command a better understanding of the mechanics involved with the dispel magic check.

Similar to what is done with clerics and their turn undead, 1d20+cleric level+ charisma modifier+superfluous modifiers.

More shit in the combat log, I suppose, but it will allow us to see what the opponent's save (particularly with NPCs and their nigh impossibility of being dispelled) is.

The Black Heresy of Tempus splintered off in the various chaotic reformations of the Church during the time of troubles. It remained small, always, never numbering more than ten to twenty men and women. Dogmatically, they conducted themselves similarly, in spirit and vernacular with the main ethos of the church, but the key differences lying in that eternity must be claimed. Death, while glorious, means your legacy is left to rot and be manipulated by the future generations for their own ends, wreaking untold destruction in the name of a long lost hero. No, to prevent this, true heroes must be elevated beyond death and kept out of Kelemvor's grip, there are a myriad of ways to extend one's life time that doesn't necessarily involve necromancy, but it isn't an excluded option, either. (See Halaster, who has survived for eight thousand or more years, and various arch wizards)

As well, the dogma emphasizes the supremacy of mankind as Tempus' favored race. Wherever mankind marched, battle followed. Glory earned, plunder split, and nations wrought. Triumphing over most species in its desire for land and territory to which to make claim and build. Mankind won the favor of the Father of Battle in their conquest. Civilization defined itself by its continued struggle for existence, and that the soul, battle, blazed in every man, woman, and child, the living and dead.

There is more to this concept, but as a teaser, here is the dogma I intend to use for when I enter the game. Now, turn your eyes to Warrior's Rest, and embrace the eternity that awaits all who join.
