Suggestions / Re: bring back my drink suppy cup addiction
November 19, 2024, 08:23:09 PM
The penalty being that devastating was a negative to the roleplay, especially since it was not intended. The Drink remains one of the most controversial in-character topics without it needing to have the mechanics of a glitched doom-poison that reduces bones to jello.

The roleplay was not made more interesting by bugged effects making it appear cripplingly harmful. That was boring if anything, because it stripped the topic of any nuance and made it too heavily gamified for purposes of opposition. This is better. Let things be good.

Palatial Architect Stonefield,

Troubled are these times, and yet all is well. I extend to you an invitation to seek me at the Priory of the Sibylline Vine, where we might share in tranquility words overdue.

I really enjoyed the dynamic with Kellyn. It was formative for my character at every step, and I hope that was mutual.

Ribbit and altogether too many other things.

Correspondence / [To Rennik Colmes, unsigned.]

[A letter finds its way to the garrison. The text is simple, nondescript, and wanting for a signature.]

Lieutenant,

While surely your men will convey these bellows, I thought to relay their precise contents while they were fresh, illegal as they were.

Quote from: Oskrul VaazAs the dead do lack a voice. I am obliged to speak. Lest his turmoil rise up the ash and make more timult. Upon Voss' lips was a final secret. One he did not Bellow in hope his believed patron would save him. It seems, instead, his patron sent mercenaries. And so, I will tell you as Voss told me -

Legate Argent ordered Recluta Voss to kill the tribes-hin Yiti. He ordered it. He demanded it. He paid for it. This - Voss confided to me. I rejoice now to share it, that his soul might yield up the weight. That is might unburden itself towards Mithurtu. Towards peace.

Mirthurtu, Mirthurtu, Mirthurtu, Benedict Voss. You who stared down death so bravely. You who were betrayed, and failed, and roil in indignity at it all. Mirthurtu, Mirthurtu, Mirthurtu.

The Veteran's Vanguard claimed the murderer's bounty immediately after it was raised. The Veteran's Vanguard is under contract from Legate Argent. Profitable for all involved, save the discarded knife-man whose account could not be permitted to spread.

It is surely not the case that Argent had Voss under his command, and arranged the meeting with the Vanguard wherein the Legate's leal employees killed him, cleaning up a loose end for the State's hearty reward, and the Legate's peace of mind.

Imagine a shameless murder conspiracy, naked beneath the Demon in its boldness, in which all with blood on their hands take instruction, as well as coin, from the Legate?

You already knew this, or suspected it, but will you abide it?

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Re: Samton Ashworth

Samton was the man. He had become one of Akna's best friends over their time and I loved their arc together, with all of its ups and downs. I can remember like it was yesterday the moment Akna realized "Wait a minute; Paul Blart over here is kind of a badass." They had a blast, and so did I.

Hate to see him go, but I'm glad he went down stomping orcs in war, as it was meant to be.

Apothar Estellise,

It is my observation that there appear to be multiple instances of you in this modestly sized settlement alone. One hypothesis is that you are engaging in a shared presentation, and would therefore posses a more fundamental identity. I am of course not accusing you of deception, for it is also possible that there is a production facility somewhere, or that you were at some point duplicated.

Perhaps we simply take on the mannerisms of those to whom we are close. Perhaps there is something else going on.

Were you always an Apothar and Witch?

The Krak is an agreeable place. I too find comfort within it. Barring periods of higher than typical accord conflict, it does not lack for Nadiri, though they are certainly less concentrated than in the Tower. I appreciate that you may sometimes need a break from them, and am pleased that you can achieve this.

An employee is a thing that you can currently be said to posses under most uses of the word.

I will forward any amendments to my shopping list through them.

Ugh this one hurts. This is a huge PC to lose. Alejandro was one of the earliest big PCs to give Akna the time of day, and she (and I) always appreciated it. Over time she came to love him as a friend and find him frustrating in equal measure. He was a close friend and confidant, but he was also a sassy, moody LICENSE WARRIOR, and it was great. I really enjoyed the dynamic of them each mutually finding the other irritating in their politics, but keeping a friendship through it.

Oh, I did them through Discord originally. I've heard they don't host anymore? I redid them.

The Priory has accepted me, and the work begins. A new family, but not a new purpose. The purpose has been there since that day; I simply had not found the way forward.

Before I stood in their number they asked me of destiny and fate. These things I accept as reality, however is it fate that I am here? I chose it freely, but would I ever have chosen otherwise?

I see those who work against us. For my part, each began as soon as I met them, subtlety in varying amounts, words to direct me elsewhere. How would it discourage me when they see my intent, strangers, with immediate clarity?

Their attempt on Sister Selsi has failed but it won't be the last. Legates fold swiftly, it seems. Though it was her salvation in this instance, it is neither good nor bad in itself, for just as easily could they be swayed against us.

A response should be prepared to ensure the directions they bend won't bar the way.

Journals and Musings / Jamei's Journal
April 09, 2024, 01:12:52 AM

[The tome, neatly kept despite its heavy use, possesses years of entries on caravan routes, musings, and the practice lessons of a student of the arcane. The latest entry, however, takes on a new fervor. The ink itself oozes fanaticism. The quill has, at points, near bitten through the page.]

Tammuz 9, IY 7788

Though we did not count the years back then, there are ways of knowing. I have perhaps nineteen of them, roughly half spent in this caravan with Father. It is how we have lived since we escaped the Nothing. We have traveled, brought people here and there. I have read. I have learned to channel spell. I have known Kula, who would make this blighted world green once more. I have seen the greatness of which we are capable when uplifted by our fellow man, in equality. But through it all, I never forgot what brought me here.

Since that day I have known my purpose. But the means, the path, was ever obscured. No longer.

They blaze again in my mind, those sights which never left; the death of a World.

I see it in my books. I see it in the faces of our passengers. I see it on the horizon that burns even now. I see it in my dreams; the howling Darkness boiling through our streets, over our homes, over Mother. It comes anew to the South- a tide of another kind; of axe and flesh. Drums to beckon a new Nothing.

Annihilation all the same, just as it was that day.

They promise an Age of Bronze. From Bronze, nothing grows. The Garden will be trampled. Man's divine spark, snuffed out. His potential, his dignity, his dreams forgotten for all time. The Age of Bronze will end the World. I will not allow it.

We hear now of a battle in the Southlands; a stand made against the tide. Someone resists this terrible thing that rises against mankind. We have learned what city sent this force, and I know also of the Order that resides there. I will have their visions, their portents, and with them I will oppose this second End.

We arrive soon at Ephia's Well. There I will disembark. Father will understand; my destiny is there. While Doom rises in the South, so too will Great Works rise from the Well of Ephia. These things I also see.

We will unchain the human spirit.

We will see Paradise realized.

We will save the World.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Re: Cosine Mevura

Well we both died. Akna soon, but Cosine soon enough. The two of them existed adjacently for a long time before they ever spoke. When they finally did, that made it all the more interesting; a whole bunch of tensions in the air, they instantly flew into politics.

It was their first real conversation, but it was a long one, and a good one. Here's a snippet- a piece of what each thought;

After getting to know each other, they continued to interact politically, and a bit personally. Akna liked him, despite X, Y and Z reservations- these reservations Cosine of course probably shared regarding her. It was always fun, even with how rarely they were ever actually on the same page. In the end, they both went off to war and didn't make it back.

I really enjoyed enjoyed Akna's interactions with him. Well done.
