Journals and Musings / Ren's Diary
March 12, 2023, 04:49:11 PM
The Twelfth day of the Third Month,

I'd forgotten what it was like to have a home. My young childhood memories are a blur, it is not a time I seek to recall.
Still, it pained me for Leiah to ask my leave to sell the house she's been allowing me to stay in. I put on a brave face, of course. I can't let her on to my feelings.
Why did I even bring that sister over to her, after she expressed interest in joining? I'm out to get myself.
She probably would have joined eventually, anyways.
'Tis how it always goes. People move on... and I'm left floating in the wind.
Well, that's the way I like it. The way it should be.

The Starlit Maiden

Stars in her eyes, drink in her hand, brows ever furrowed,
Her mind too wise, her heart too heavy and, her efforts thorough,
'Tis rare to meet a lass so clever,
Rarer still to yearn for forever,
Her overcast disposition,
Makes the world ever brighter.

Hark, the beauty of one desert flower,
Might I dance to behold your smile?
Should heat or sand render me insane,
The final words upon my lips,
Would be thy name.

Storms in her words, book in her hand, passing time 'til morrow,
Casting her wards, moving along and, letting me follow,
The Starlit Maiden unaware of her splendor,
For her darkness makes light that much better,
To her crashing waves I doth surrender.

Hark, the beauty of one desert flower,
Might I dance to behold your smile?
Should heat or sand render me insane,
The final words upon my lips,
Would be thy name.

The final words upon my lips,
Would be thy name.

Notices and Bulletins / The Tragedy of the Grognak
March 05, 2023, 09:32:26 AM

I, the bard Ren Riles, am remiss to say that a great tragedy occurred just outside the gates of Ephia’s Well. On my way back from adventure, I thought I was witnessing a giant beast attacking fine folk, and lept into the fray to help defend them.

Only after the battle did I realize I had contributed to the slaying of a great, gentle giant, and created an orphan of the child she was simply trying to protect. My heart aches and my guilt is endless, and thus, something must be done.

I propose that the mighty Grognak is to be made the animal symbol of Ephia’s Well, and I will stop at nothing to make this happen, so that this noble creature may be protected by every means. I will soon write a paper on the Grognak’s many wonderful qualities, and why it is suited to represent the Well, as well as a song for the lovely creature.

I hope to find others who will support this endeavor. Please send for me, or find me at the Krak or Hasheem’s, if you would like to collaborate in making this happen.

Yours,
Ren Riles
