Aurelio,

I will be candid. I cannot sanction the Legion's commitment to your expedition. Given our shared experiences, I trust you will understand why.

This command I've been granted has been as much a burden as a blessing, and I do not bear it lightly. We've fought together on many occasions—it's true. And even now, I will not deny the temptation to act without reserve. But I am now responsible for more than just my own life. That reality, combined with recent consequences, makes the cost of this expedition too high a price to pay. There are myriad other reasons as well, which I believe you already know. I'll waste neither the ink nor your time discussing them. Simplicity is an ally of truth, and the truth is as I have stated.

Our place is upon the walls of the Citadel, and to abandon them would leave our home exposed. It would be a dereliction of duty, and a mistake I do not intend to repeat. I'll do my best to remain at the Garrison should you need a word. I'll make the time if need be.

Respectfully,
Hanson Gilbracht

May this find you well,

I'll begin with relating my appreciation of the words we shared at the Garrison. I have, and will gladly pass on further receipts that we have charged with regard to the Trial funds demanded by the State. The terms you have laid out are for the most part agreeable in addition to the simple six-month mandate offered at Court. The Legion will abide all terms, save this unsettling assumption made regarding their collection.

Collection of these levied fines are the purview solely of the Legion. It is the Fourth whom is charged with the enforcement of the Penal-Code, it's mandates. It is the Fourth to prosecute, levy, and collect, any and all fines within the Citadel. Extremely close coordination on these matters is encouraged and promoted, but any overlap in this regard cannot be encouraged. We will enforce this payment regimen, we will accept the consequences in regard to failure to maintain it. But, we will not ever abdicate our responsibility for their collection. Payment will be processed by the Legion, a Scribe may be called to witness, and or accept the receipts written once they have been issued. In this regard the Legate Linwood and the Deputy Chief-Scribe have been informed, the former having accepted and signed a statement to that effect in full support, which I shall provide attached to this letter for your records:

Quote from: Garen LinwoodWrit of Guarantee,
Legate Linwood reiterates and renews his support of the Legion's authority to collect all fines levied in accordance with the Well's Penal-Code. This is in particular, but not limited to - the Case of Descent tried in recent memory.

Hanson Gilbracht, Garen Linwood,
Qdim 15th, IY 7789

I suggest disseminating this information amongst the Pyramid, to your colleagues, and the Legates. The Scribes of the Sublime Pyramid are a valued and vital piece of the State's interests, and fellow servants of the Sultan. There ought be common understanding with respect to that. It would be undue for further disturbance to occur regarding the matter.

Should you seek any further information regarding these payments, or their collection, we will always be willing to provide. As things stand here below I shall tally the current totals, and their outstanding balance.

Quote from: Outstanding and Unpaid FinesOutstanding Fines,
Hanson Gilbracht,
Total paid: 5039, balance of 36794 outstanding.
Shum Sheroy,
Total paid: 7956, balance of 33877 outstanding.
Armin Albertos,
Total paid: 5949, balance of 35884 outstanding.
Eva Keter,
Total paid: 13821, balance of 28012 outstanding.

There is also a payment of 12000 on record for Jamileh Attar, however it has been made clear the same punishment has not yet been levied against her. We can collect fines, but cannot draw from them save the Allotment. Perhaps the State could reimburse her? I am unsure. I reiterate, if there is anything further you require at all A Legion Duty-Sergeant is always available.

Amani al-Ibrahim,

Hello, and thank you for reaching out to the Garrison. Your campaign has sparked some personal interest, and your moderate positions are commendable. I would advise you en-devour to reach out on an individual basis in-person however, should you be seeking support from those among our ranks. It has been general practice in the Legion to allow our Voiced-members to utilize their right however they wish during times absent of absolute need.

This election does not constitute a crisis in our eyes, and so thus, your time will be more effectively used in currying favour with a more personal tone. Many of our own gravitate naturally toward an expected position in politics, and so loyalty is greatest asset any candidate might have that would shift those views toward another alternative. Loyalty to the Well's stability, and the ability of the State to easily conduct their works without issue. I believe you are already on the right track in that regard, and wish you Well.

Please reach out should you desire a favour or deign to embark toward the Garrison's lobby for a quick word.

Regards,

Correspondence / [Letter/Sealed] Aurelio d'Lyon
July 08, 2025, 12:10:05 AM
This letter is sealed with what looks like a wax-Heron insignia....

May this find you well,

Aurelio, I heard you were out of town on some pilgrimage for the next few days. There's been some developments however, so I wanted to keep you appraised and make sure you've some understanding on the subject. Lieutenant Teg, Janissary al-Dawla and I had words with yours inside the College and ironed-out a disposal plan. Caddick can fill you in on the most important details - location, method, etc. Regardless of those specifics we've decided to meet outside the Well in four days time. When you return, we shall dispose of it. These contraband bottles have been souring things for far too long. All the Accords are welcome, and we've sworn to that effect. We'll need to have at least /two/ Astronomers present. I'll handle those details though. Keep in mind, we'll want to keep things small lest it becomes too chaotic.

All I need from you then is a little notion of when you'll be available and I'll set the time. If Illul 11th doesn't suite I can always settle in for a different date and time. Even some few months into living here I've still not gotten used to the telling of it all. You'd be more skilled in that expertise. Time-telling right? Ridiculous. Anyhow, be in touch.

Regards,
Hanson Gilbracht

Suggestions / Faction Artifact-Cabinets

Just saw that the Temple-Artifact thing is more of an archive than a relic-shop. So, I thought having them for Factions would be kinda nifty too! That was it.

Magistrate Kruehtzer,

There is no precedent, or any sense in a half-measured Exile for this guilt-ridden bandit. He is exiled until the moment the Legates decide to grant mercy themselves, or not at all. He is exiled until he is not, or until he is dead. I will also clarify for you that reducing charges are not at all standard practice. He is guilty of Capital-Theft.

Should there be a next time, I will ensure my Soldiery enforces it as such. Charges brought before the State may not be reduced. What can occur however, is for punishment to be of a lesser degree. Capital-charges can result in fines for example. The severity of crimes committed are best received as a set of tiers. When a criminal crosses that threshold more options become available to you, but they are all still options.

In short, you never required a 'Mother's Mercy', all you need do was invite both Advocate and Prosecutor to deliberate with you as is custom. Your refusal to do so has come with a cost. We will see your blubbering dog back to his old ways, or never again entirely before long.

Know that the Legion will not abide further theater, leave it at the Verdant-Stage.

A letter is penned in simple black ink and left upon the Financier's desk.

Financier Frederico Mezzizeni,

I endeavour to hope this correspondence reaches you without issue. I pen this letter for you today as a means of procurement.

It is my intent to return home in pilgrimage to the great Dome of Man, to honour the Navigator Sage Markolo in those most sacred premises. The reputation of your family is well known and respected amongst the entire Great Ash Desert, and so in accordance with that understanding it is only natural then to determine your assistance in this would be most valuable. I request then, if possible, a place upon one of your vessels to ensure safe-passage to the City for me and a handful of faithful confidants.

I implore you consider the request and offer terms at your leisure. Navigator willing, may your ventures bring about vast fortune in business and in health.

Most reverently,
Ottavio Banducci, Merchant-Priest, Banda Rossa Recluta.
