Hey EfU.

Been a long time. Unfortunately I disappeared a while back due to some crazy-RL-health-issues, leaving poor Ayumu to languish in the Bogs.

But... am currently in the process of re-installing NWN, so expect to see me around in the near future for some nostalgic ventures into the mists.

I thought the /c diagnose already did take into account Heal skill?

I'm afraid I'm even less available than normal due to work kicking my ass generally, as well as crunch time for a few extra-curricular activities of mine. Expect me to only be around on forums and the rare log-in.

Unfortunately this means Ayumu's grove also reverts to being untenanted for now... but assume he is just wandering the wilds and is still in touch.

There appear to be lots of these "Journey Within" transitions inside random exploration areas that are broken.

Congratulations on such a fantastic PC... she will long be considered an integral part of the island I imagine.

Quote from: Drakill Tannan;253300What i don't understand is what the "confused" option is for.. either you got a penis, a vagina or you had either and changed it through surgert. Male, female and trasgreder cover thouse. What's "Confused" for?

Since I studied some of this stuff at uni, let me share:

1) Sex and gender are not the same thing from an academic perspective. Sex is biological (chromosomes, genitalia, hormones), gender is social role and is culturally specific (interacting with society as a woman or a man or something else).

2) From a biological perspective: There is such a thing as intersex, and it is a biological state where not all sex determinants are concordant or are ambiguous. Eg. Male chromosomes with female genitalia, or indeterminate genitalia at birth. Various intersexed conditions affect roughly 1% of the population.

3) Transgender usually relates to social performance of gender. This is more to do with self-identification than with biology. Someone who is biologically female but lives and identifies as a man might consider themselves transgender. Then again, they might just identify as a man.

4) Transsexual usually relates to someone who has undergone or is undergoing biological sex reassignment through surgery and/or hormone therapy.

5) Some non-Western societies already have a third gender that some people are either born into because they are intersexed, or because they grow up identifying as them. The Hijra of subcontinental Asia are a good example of this.

I realise this is all very academic for about 95% of the population. But it is quite important to recognise and value people's identities if you believe in any kind of positive humanist freedom of identification.

Also against this. Not everyone has the time to quest as much as others, and since most of my unfortunately short time available to be in game is spent roleplaying, the gold / XP losses as they currently stand are quite substantial.

While I agree this is problematic, the Perks menu in the crafting menu does have an explicit warning about the fact that selecting one will automatically choose it.

It could possibly be worded better.

I'm not sure if the scripting can be changed to add another branch level to the conversation that provides a description before confirming your choice. But worth adding if possible.

The fact that only Pt 1 of the journal entry appears however, is indeed a bug.

Quote from: Spiffy Has;252365Stargazers have inhabited the Archipelago longer than the netherese and have an immensely rich Oral Tradition. It makes 100% IC sense for them to have a Skald that hands our stories/songs for Bards to use.

This. It is the fact that there is an extant oral tradition in the Stargazer society at large that would make this suggestion logical.

No insult taken! Just wanted to make sure you were aware that it was all done IC, and not some kind of OOC campaign of mine. Feel free to get annoyed in-character with Ayumu!

Quote from: Big Orc Man;252350Why should the druid order cooperate if they don't cooperate towards druidish ends?

Aberrations, planar creatures, undead... none of them are tolerable to a druid.

That includes tieflings and even aasimars.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here BOM. When I said "outsiders" in the post above, I meant non-Stargazers.

EDIT: Edited the original post to be clearer!

Quote from: Kinslayer988;252139It is rather annoying though when you try to be prejudiced and angry towards outsiders as a stargazer when other stargazers are like "STFU you don't know what your saying". Indeed some stargazer PCs can be naive and curious at first but when you see a stargazer that has been on a few months saying it to you it is of great annoyance.

As the person currently playing a Stargazer who is more accepting of (some) non-Stargazers than some of his brethren, I would like to emphasise that this is totally in-character. As a member of the Steward faction, Ayumu sees the cooperation of the druidic order as being more important than racial conflict, and as a high WIS character, sees the potential for allies in those who support those goals, no matter their race. Ayumu is especially critical of anyone (including Stargazers) who doesn't respect the Stewards, or speak about them as though they have intimate knowledge of their opinions/decisions when they aren't of the Circle.

I would rather this not turn into some kind of OOC assumption that I'm "not playing it right".

Additionally, overall the Stargazers of the Old Ways are a fairly neutral race, with many good tendencies, especially amongst the Order of the Zodiac IIRC. I don't find it surprising that initial mistrust or prejudice against their foreign ways (including cannibalism etc) dissipates if an adventurer has the opportunity to see their actions and talk with them in person.

I believe the intention is to move most of the mechanics and server related information to the website eventually (the move is not yet finished and there are still bugs being worked out), but yes, no harm in making it visible again until that transfer has been completed.
