Dear Players,

Over the past few months there has been a mongrel war plot ongoing, which on Saturday May 21st at approx 9-10pm GMT there shall be a SERVER WIDE event to potentially conclude it....

This event will require a few things:

Please only log on to attend the event itself.
The server will be reduced in size to accommodate the numbers and hopefully reduce lag.
I will of course allow PC's who are "in ring" to return to attend, please let me know ahead of time if this is you as I'll need to reset your spawn.
It will NOT be a PERMADEATH event, however there may be instances based on PC choices that could potentially end your character (you will be warned before making them if this is on the cards).

Streaming will be allowed and if you wish to be the one to stream it, please contact me directly.

Anyone involved in this plot currently I will highly recommend making the time to attend.

Timings may yet move slightly depending on a few variables but for now assume this date and time will be the case.

Any questions please feel free to contact me.

Announcements / PLEASE READ: Diction and EFU
April 03, 2022, 06:53:55 PM
This is an important post regarding In-Character Diction, Language, and Slang in EfU

Lately the DM team has noticed an uptick in IC conversation styles that we don't find appropriate for our setting. We really want to encourage people to be expressive and enjoy their roleplay on our server, but that includes following a certain spirit of EfU.

Please consider these recommendations as a courtesy to other players who already value this spirit and find clashing choices of diction immersion-breaking, and because participating with these recommendations in mind is valuable to the integrity and quality of the gameworld.

The primary culprit is the use of contemporary slang by PCs. Words and phrases such as "cool" "whack" "bummed out"  "dude" used icly are really not appropriate for the setting we play within.

Whilst it is absolutely great to find a niche way to express your pc's individuality, perhaps considering the question "is this something I would hear in a LOTR movie or ASOIAF?" If the answer is "No" then perhaps it is wiser to find a more thematic alternative.

Thanks in advance and remember that the Efu DM team demands maximum satisfaction.

Announcements / Prelude: Things that Lurk in the Forest
February 22, 2022, 10:29:41 PM
Good day players,

As I've been able to return to dming more actively lately I have decided to run a plot that will impact the entire server in one way or another.

Whilst I'm not willing to divulge too much information publicly. I would like to invite roughly 5 players who are looking for a CHALLENGE.

This prelude, will require you making a quick application for a mongrelman (any kind you wish) to be a part of a group of outcasts working towards a goal.

You will have the perks of a small base of operations, starting equipment and such and be involved in an actively dmed plot line.

It will no doubt be PVP intense, yet very rewarding if you are able to survive.

Please contact me directly with questions on discord, I would like to begin this prelude on the Sunday coming, times TBC.

Adios

Announcements / Scraggleways Gangsters Prelude
March 08, 2021, 07:48:32 PM
All,

There is going to be a prelude tomorrow for some gangster types based out of ring 99.

It'll be ideal for petty street gangwar style concepts.

It is due to commence at 7pm GMT / 2pm EST

I have 6 players already but I am accepting a few more if you would like to play in this! I'm not looking for throwaway pcs really. But you will be receiving some basic starting loot and xp.

PM me on discord if you would like to be involved.

[ :: Year 1 :: ]

A dark day for the Peerage. Farmhands and commoners made their way indoors, locking and barricading their homes for some unknown reason. As the sun settled in the west, a lone messenger was spotted on the Old Forest Road. Bearing the white flag of peace, the Ghyl approached and waited. It was met by a score of Peerage retainers and clingers on, and delivered its news. Too long have the peers stood idly by, allowing the steadings to go hungry whilst they rip what little food is grown away from the common folk.

This herald informed those gathered than any peerage man whom remained in the steadings at nightfall would be subject to a rule, or cut down.  Defenders hurried to call for re-enforcements, Orzans and Sunpurses leading the defence and calling for barricades, men and ballistae to be set. As night covered the land, torches in the darkness could be seen. Peers manned the defences and waited.

Hundreds of Ghyl, began to invade, slowly at first with scouts and footmen. But as the night wore on, more and more Ghyl warriors joined the battle, pushing the defenders back to the bridge between the burgage and the steadings. A Ghyl, bigger than any have seen before took to the field, claiming himself "Ser Rodrik the Steelhorn" and the lands under the protection of House Ghyll.

A solemn Sunpurse Knight challenged the Ghyl to a duel to end the bloodshed. The Ghyl Knight accepted, and summarily dispatched the Knight with frightening ease. As the defenders  decided to attack the warlord, dozens more of the best warriors of House Ghyll pushed forward, driving them back again. The ensuing battle was ferocious, with losses on both sides.

A skirmish attempt from Matteo Giovanni, and an Orzan Retainer Douglas Arran failed miserably, as they tried to assassinate the Ghyl Lord. Only succeeding in forcing him to the field once more, threatening to kill any man whom stood before him. Peerage residents began to retreat at the willing of Lord Giovanni and others. A few remaining to hold the Ghyl at bay. One notable figure,  Senior Retainer Adhemar Dupont, died heroically trying to buy time for the others to flee.

The Steadings, now occupied by  the invaders with their warriors manning checkpoints in and out. Signs erected  and sharpen steel axes ensuring no retainers of any house are allowed to pass. No further food will come into the peerage from the  Steadings.  The  commonfolk are seen to be moving  freely, though it remains to be seen. Have they swapped one tyrant, for another?

[ :: Year 1 :: ]

A storm settled over ring 95 and outwards  in the past eve, with the coming of night, the Count's Drill was moved into position at the walls of the Swampmuck  lands. A column of Sunpurse Retainers led by by a bannerknight of the House were seen marching towards the old fortress at the entrance to the ring.  Not long after, one badly wounded retainer returned seeking re-enforcements.

A band of Sunpurse and Orzan retainers, along with a few citizens of the Peerage itself marched out to the fortress camp. Where Ruby Vizu Nemari was engaged in a standoff with a ferocious lizardfolk warlord, whom had taken captives. The Lizardfolk demanded the drill be stopped, or dead would befall the Sunpurse hostages. In reply, the Ruby simply executed the hostage closest with a throwing knife and instructed the drill begin.

War raged over many hours, with man and woman fighting to hold the fortress position from hundreds of Lizardfolk. Finally concluding in victory, when the warlord was laid low.

The drill completed it's work, and the exterior walls of 95 crumbled to it's might. Progress continues, deeper into the rings.....

My name is Equinox

Apparently my levels of pretending to be an evil overlord have qualified me to be an  EFU DM

See you all IG!

Wow EFU.. Bravo.

After an extended break, I came back to learn we can create our own faiths now! I thought this was incredibly cool so set out to give it a whirl..

Enter: Jeremiah Dupris, and the Faith of the Timeless One. A God I'm sure you'll all soon read about as we successfully achieved bringing him into being as a small god of EFU!

First and Foremost: A Thank you to all the DM's and Players involved, you're all rockstars in my eyes and it was a hell of a ride.

Special mention to the players of Ioannis Basiliscus and Aiseth Corvus. My ride or dies. We we out BIG!

Now for the cool screenshots!

I converted a total of 7 PC's to the faith of the Timeless One:

Sacrificed a couple of them as well.. It's dangerous being in an evil cult folks!

We got our first glimpse of our Patron.. In a ritual then went horribly wrong! Leaving us with the bones of our god.. Unresponsive..

We freed an ancient Undying Warlord:

Investigated the Pallid Prince and his work:

Murdered some interfering Paladins:

Destroyed the Recondite Golem, and Massacred their numbers:

And finally, tried to complete a ritual atop the Ziggurat of 95, to raise the Timeless One into being.

Some gnomes stopped us... Or so they thought...

With his work done, Jeremiah passes into the next life:

Keep being awesome EFU.

General Discussion / Re: V5 Feedback Thread
April 20, 2020, 03:26:39 PM
After a few weeks back IG after a six year break. I'd like to start off giving a serious pat on the back to all involved. The mechanics changes, use of HAKs and more have really allowed the server to flourish.

Having played in all five settings for this story, EFU:COR is rapidly becoming my favourite.

The abilty and expansion towards player focused factions seems extremely obvious, which I am a HUGE  fan of. Allowing more and more player created factions/ associations to thrive without DM oversight needed is something that the server does really well.

The cannon changes to allow players to craft their own religious Deity, by far a huge addition to the server. FR gods whilst many have their merits, are limited. This change once again allows much more diverse and complex concepts based around religion.

It's very good to be back. Especially during this time of isolation for many, EFU:COR seems to be more active than ever.

Kudos, to players and DM's alike.

Aside from the last point this post is rather stupid and mis-informative especially towards our newer players who are still learning the ways of EFU. Posting up your personal opinions on how pvp should go under the guise of "PvP Courtesy" like it's a set of facts is just confusing and contradictory.

PvP is not meant to be all smiles and hugs, war and fighting is gritty in it nature, and whilst I can see you likely want to try and avoid people wordlessly FDing in big battles etc (which is understandable) sometimes I will pvp a group simply to BO or FD that one pc within them. Are you saying that in order to do so I must subdue everyone in that team before I am free to kill my target?

Because frankly that is utterly preposterous.
