You guys are doing better than me with that quest. I never made any progress on it at all.

One thing I did notice about it is the relatively high level max for a solo quest. You can take it at level 7, can you not? That seems to support the idea that you can pay others to help you complete it, as by level 7 a decent wizard ought to have a fair bit of gold in the bank.

Quote from: Cruzel;132918For the head thing - If you tweak existing override ones a bit, you can get them to replace the current heads, thus giving you variety and nobody looks headless since all the heads are still the same, just with a different model on your client.

If you're going to go to that much trouble, why not just use new (i.e. non-overlapping) heads? It should be one or the other, not some hacked off compromise. Consistency is always better than confusion, even if it does mean that there is less variety.

That said, I would still rather have more heads to choose from, and I don't think that necessarily conflicts with the DMs desire to have a server that anyone can just log into and try out without a hakpack. The mainstay of the playerbase is capable of downloading a 20MB file.

Enough about heads, I've said my $.02.

Thanks for the extra pics, Egon. I've mined my folders for some more goodies, I'll post them later on tonight or tomorrow. Kind of busy today.

Quote from: Raposa_Fox;132450Do these overrides work as 2da files, like, unlocked voice sets and portraits? Or one has to have the override file in their computer to see my override head?

We'd all have to be using it to see each other's heads. A new player could still log in to the server and check it out without the override, but to them, a few people would be headless. To me, that's a small price to pay for having more options when it comes to creating new and interesting-looking characters.

What I love most about EfU:A is that feeling you get when you're running a dungeon, out of healing, drained of spells, everyone starts arguing, then here comes a DM with a baddie to chase you all out.

There's a sense of survival and adventure here that you just don't get anywhere else.

Quote from: Raposa_Fox;132008I think making it available for any pc to get an NPC head would do. Like the one the guard has inside the new arrivals tower, and some others. I think there are some more options without haks.

The problem is that those only apply to humans. And the head packs I'm suggesting are overrides, not haks.

Still though, something is always better than nothing.

I've been gone for a while and haven't had much of a chance to log in on a steady basis, so first off, great to see that everything's still awesome around here. Hope everyone is well.

I know that haks are utterly out of the question, however if I could add one thing to EfU:A, I would love to see us all agree to use a head pack override. I get so sick of seeing the same heads over and over again. It doesn't have to be the one I linked, Hell, it would be a fun thing to have the PCs build their own and vote on whose is best. There are only so many combinations of head / hair color / skin color available, and I exhausted all of them long ago.

I do not have this problem, and I have been running NWN on XP for years now. Perhaps it is a driver issue?

One time a couple of years ago I FD killed someone and I felt bad about it. I sent them a tell explaining that I felt bad.

They started laughing at me.

I'd rather see more quest loot for monks than gear from merchants. A wider selection of gloves, more clothing with interesting combat bonuses, that sort of thing. Items of this type would be broadly useful to a variety of non-combat classes.

Keep the Mist Ogres!

Quote from: Luke Danger;118245They are tackable with a strongly coordinated group that has oh, a L9 cleric with plenty of buffs to offer and a powerful fighter or two

Isn't that the point, though? There should be some places on the server you can't get to without a buffed group. If just anybody can fight their way through, it makes the server feel smaller, and that makes the puppy sad.

You don't want to make the puppy sad, do you Luke?

For the record: Sheldon, Holvah and I were able to cut a path through the Mist Ogres, using no consumables except herbs, just the three of us, at level 6. That's two fighters and a cleric, working alone, for a combined total hit dice of 18, with no more than 10AB for any one of us. The only special advantages we had were discipline and communication.

Plus, don't these Mist Ogres have some kind of innate weakness to something or another? I distinctly recall discovering some easy way to deal with these foes, but it escapes me. If only there were some character class whose specialty was the identification of weaknesses in their enemies...
