Suggestions / Re: Make Furors pure barbarian only
May 18, 2019, 07:12:09 AM
I agree with this actually.  The rage cooldown is long enough that often it's only 1/rest for a typical barb who isn't very high level + feats.  It would be a good idea to make furors pure barbarian only.

RPG manages to always make some of my favorite characters.  Captain Adamantine was the best fake paladin/charlatan Iv'e seen for a long time.

Similar to the 'You can hear someone casting' yellow text, I think a 'You can hear someone drinking a potion or using magical item would be a good yellow text addition to the combat log.  Some players play without sound, so it would help them a lot.

William was my introduction to EFU:COR again, as a barbarian meant for a more urban setting.

William was a Luskan man born to a single mother.  He never knew his father but as he grew older, he clearly displayed the racial traits of the Uthgart, with his black hair, and blue eyes, and massive frame.  This would lead to him being shunned for most work, as he looked like a savage raider rather then a civilized Luskanite and he would always suffer for a lack of a father figure.  The characters goals once he entered the setting was to find a 'tribe' and do his best to support the tribe leader, or some sort of father figure, to replace the one he never had, and see if he could go home to take care of his mother again.

I had three things I would stick to when playing 'Big Bill':

1. He was almost always in a good mood, and always had a positive attitude. He was a gentle person by nature.

2.  I wouldn't think for more then six seconds before typing what he would say, and I avoided using complex language when possible.

3. He would seek a place of security, egalitarianism and purpose, since he was so tired of being downtrodden and marginalized.

In the end this led him to House Orza, as Burjan Halliene was the first person to take him under his wing.  Brujan was a cruel and ruthless man, but he had a genuine caring for his people or 'his 'gang' as he called them.   Bill would put up with the many idiosyncratic views of his 'family' but ultimately he began to develop doubts and keep his head down, realizing that simple beatings were turning into murder, and combat magics turning to infernalism, decisions that were never made until the disappearance of his veteran he served.  While he was okay with using violence, because that was what he was good at,  the suffering he was causing began to have an affect on him, and his jovial manner soon turned into quiet resentment and rage for those who judged him for his uneducated words, or simple manner.

When he suffered Amnesia, what the character fundamentally realized was that these previous actions were those of a coward, and an opportunist and he sought to be a better man, a sheepdog instead of a mad hound.  That he'd been slowly boiled until he had no sense of who he was before he ended up in the rings.  The man tried his best to begin working on rebuilding what damage he had felt he had done. Serving the stones and by ending up in the stonebuilder's guild by sheer circumstance.   This transition lasted all of three days until the mad hound pack caught up to him.

Thanks for everyone who interacted with the character.

I have recently begun playing a paladin on efu that I hope to have interact with many aspects of the server. In the spirit of this, I have begun a diary entry that other players in the community can use to influence Renault on his quest.

Some information on Ser Renault:

Ser Renault during the distant past was a member of a knightly order of Tyr that presided over judicial trials and acted as a military arm against injustice when required. He is a Cormyrian native, though his order spans through much of faerun. During the darkening of the world he was sent on pillgrimage. While traveling the surface, he was crippled in battle with the dread, and now has a severely damaged left leg with a pinched nerve. The pain can be intense enough at times that he begins to pass out. This was also about the time his visions and dreams began, interspersed with the nightmares of Dendar.

How you can influence him:

Choose a graphic picture, and write a short prompt about what occured within it. Renault does not always dream of himself or Sanctuary. It can be any sort of vision, dream, landscape, that could be possibly conceived within the setting of Toril. Privatae message me the prompt. It will end up in the diary eventually, and the consequences of the dream roleplayed in game.

The diary can be found with this link: http://www.efupw.com/forums/forum/in...enault-chaloux

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Seoc: Back to the Mud

Didn't take many screenshots but I will have what I did take up on the forum soon. Was my first druid on EFU, and one of the few characters that reached level 8. Have to remark on how impressive the druidic support and content is. Thanks to all the players who made my attempt at an odd slime worshipper interesting. In particular the players of the Seekers, and RGW for producing such an interesting councillor, and the Orange Monarch players.

My goals were to interact with as many p.cs as possible, and enforce druidic oaths as required, regardless of how daunting it might have been to do so, while engaging other players in a hopefully memorable manner. Also, to summon a lot of slime.

I'll be coming back with something a bit more cerebral as the next concept. for now, trust our Slime pagan druid has gone back to the mud and this player needs a break.

There is a tendency to toxicity. I can note that, and it's probably why I don't drop in the IRC much anymore. Hell, if I was to point it out on IRC, I'd get mocked.

I'll ask a question or two about the game and sometimes players are helpful! However, it's 50/50 on whether I get help, or insulted for not knowing NWN as well as some other players. The OOC tension has resulted in me taking breaks for other servers. It's disappointing since I think efu has the best sense of 'tabletop humor' I've seen on NWN when it's not personally insulting. Some very cerebral roleplayers.

There was this one scene where we read a sign that says 'Nothing here' but it was clearly defaced by the description.

I loved how of our entire odd band, it was ZODEN who walks up to the offending sign and screams:  LIAR!  Your secrets shall belong to Zoden!'

I had trouble roleplaing for a few minutes from laughter.

Still figuring out the computer situation, but once that is fixed, I will be coming back in game.

Just had a really bad death due crashing.

Probably won't be back until I fix that problem with my computer.  Killed my urge to play pretty heavily.

I imagine if it makes sense, it's encouraged. Factions are boring to me if everyone is in it for the same reasons I know that corruption/scumminess should probably be reported to the DMs in the form of personal notes. This was a factor in playing a Watcher character for example.

That said, nobody likes that players who likes to betray other players without sufficient I.C reason. I've dealt with players on other servers who frequently make concepts/characters to betray other players for no real reason beyond it' a thing they enjoy doing. I think that should be discouraged, but generally once word spreads about that sort of player the problem solves itself.

I'd say if it's done:

1. With OOC courtesy

2. Stylishly.

You'll be fine. Style is always the most important part in my opinion when playing the role of antagonist to other players.
