Suggestions / Expand faction armor choices
April 19, 2024, 09:44:29 PM
The changes to maximum Dex bonus on armor make a wider variety of armor choices viable. However, the selection on faction loot is a bit narrow, especially considering you're locked to the armor you choose.

Suggestions / Add a unique buff icon for bardsong
April 19, 2024, 03:08:11 AM
We were discussing adding unique icons for all spells for better clarity on when certain buffs expire on Discord. And while that requires an onerous amount of 2da editing and might not be desirable or tenable...

It would be really nice if Bard Song had a unique icon, especially for larger events involving multiple bards. It's incredibly difficult to tell when it's up if there are multiple bards in a group.

Esteemed Prince Arjuna Namahedu,

It has come to my attention that you have been again spurned by the Sultan's bureaucratic lackeys masquerading as leaders and legates.

The Cinquefoil Rose would like to cordially invite you to join us in the Krak to discuss present and future matters.

While the legates come and go with the fleeting whimsy of their voters, the Rose was here when these walls were wrestled from Ibtihal's hands - and it will continue to bloom long after the layabouts who insult you have been stripped of their power and authority.

Come. Speak. Drink. We will handle these matters as real leaders do.

Friends among he Mount,

The die has been cast in this election. I find myself ruminating on the options and sick to my stomach. I would like for us to meet at length to discuss a strategy for this and subsequent elections.

Regardless of our political misgivings and conflicts of the past, I am worried over the future of Ephia's Well if it is placed in the hands of incompetents who think little of the Accord.

The one thing we ought agree on is the necessity of safeguarding our citadel and its People.

Friends and companions,

I find myself much maligned by the present selection of candidates for this election and the tenor which they take in regards to the Cinquefoil Rose and the greater Accord.

I would like to schedule a time for us to meet and discuss a joined strategy regarding this and future elections, that we might better see to the Grandmaster's vision.

I mislike greatly the notion that these politicians would deign to send us to war whilst denigrating the very foundations of our jeweled citadel.

Passing thought: It might be neat if someone's rank in a faction or title was listed in their EFUSL entry. It might also be neat if someone's rank was listed IG as a title - similar to Legate, Magistrate, etc.

This is all assuming they're promoted and not just a regular Janissary, student, recluta, etc.

Miro,

I came upon a startling rumor that you may be abandoning your campaign.

I confess, my demeanor was inappropriately morose and defeatist during the meeting of the Lillies. I have been at this a long time. Long enough, I hope, to confer goodly advisement to a worthy candidate.

The world does not change unless we rouse the will to change it.

Find me. Let us speak.

Friends and peers,

I have grown tired of the politics swirling around the matter of the Warmaster. As the Accord contemplates and schemes, villages are ransacked and people are slaughtered. The longer you ruminate, the greater the People's apprehension about the efficacy of the Accord is justified.

I point fingers, but the Balladeers are not without guilt. At this very moment, my colleagues seek to independently recommend Aurelio as Warmaster.

I have grown frustrated with this process and our inability to coalesce towards a consensus.

I have surveyed the opinions of many; the leading candidates among our ranks are Mirielle Rousseau and Rennik Colmes. I believe we are mature enough to put aside our individual grievances and come to an agreement to support one of these two individuals.

You will meet with your leaders. You will confer amongst organizations. And you shall present the Accord's chosen Warmaster to the Legates by sunset.

I write this ultimatum not as a matter of politics or plotting, but as a matter of necessity. If we do not present an agreed candidate to the Legates, we may doom Ephia's Well with our inaction.

Truth in Action.

I believe the time has come for us to draft that contract we discussed.

Do find me at your earliest convenience, that we might make arrangements.

Lieutenant,

I know you are not my most ardent admirer, but I hope it is the case that we respect each other enough to mutually acknowledge that of the many seditious threats to Ephia's Well, my propensity for wine is not one of them.

Janissary Lawcleaver has attempted thievery and committed assault against my person whilst revisiting the matter of the Drink as a narcotic - a matter which has been relitigated publicly by the legates twice in as many weeks. It is not a narcotic. He has been told this multiple times by people of greater authority than himself. Nonetheless, he attacked me and tried to take from me my beverages as "evidence" for a supposedly minor crime that does not exist.

Were he any other individual, it would be an easy matter to attest to this and take him to the Halls of Jurisprudence. But he is a Janissary and it appears that none among your rank find his attack upon me so egregious.

I am not so foolish as to think I shall receive due recompense or justice for the matter, but I do wonder whether the Janissary are so above the law that it is your belief that they should wantonly assault Voiced citizens of the Well.

Would that the Fourth Legion help me undermine and capture the Qa'immi infiltrator that has been working with the Accord and one of our Legates rather than concerning itself with my drinking habits.

Kindly yours,

Friend,

You deserve a decade or more to grieve, as your heart demands it. I am afraid, however, that circumstances are not so kind as to allow it. We must toil forth, placing one boot in front of the other. For the road shall not lead us closer to the horizon unless we have the temerity to walk it.

I have been stricken from the Lost Hearth and handed to the Grandmaster my cloak.

We have been duped by a man speaking many words but meaning few of them. Let us meet, that we might speak on how we may right these wrongs and forge better futures.

I will be the next Legate. I bid you to aid me in achieving such.

Daoud al-Maaz,

While I was away from Ephia's Well, a man called Hrothgar Childkiller cut Ordrem Klard in twain. This was done by a great many witnesses. He did it on the Glazier's behalf and demanded to be seen by none but Rennik Colmes.

Rumor has it that Rennik exchanged one murder for the Writ of Al-Pesh.

Rumor has it that Sol Auk took a very generous bribe to ensure Childkiller did not see the lions.

To-day, the Legates and Janissary cower at the power of the Glaziers and balk at the notion of breaking the principal of double jeopardy.

I wonder - what is your penchant for danger and puzzles?

Mayhap you would like to unravel this one with me?

Honored Legates,

I will not mince words.

Hrothgar Childkiller murdered Ordrem Klard in cold blood in the offices of the White League.  He was witnessed by at least a half-dozen individuals who would readily attest to the fact. He then demanded to see Lieutenant Rennick Colmes.

Hrothgar Childkiller was shortly thereafter pardoned by Sol Auk - a selfish creature who promoted slavery and abandoned his post once he had extracted all he wished from Ephia's Well.

This is a gross miscarriage of justice. I beg you to embody Urazzir and bring due wroth upon this murderer and the barbarism that he caused. I beg you to not let Ephia's Well be a place whereabouts casual killings take place, orchestrated and protected by corrupt politicians.

I beg you to help me avenge my friend.

Friend,

I was very confused to hear the news this morning that the state paid out the Janissaries a sum of 7,500 to cover the cost of the bounty they paid for Nifkil. I would be exceptionally pleased to hear a logical explanation.

I will note that they used this bounty to coerce the Banda Rossa into betraying the Rose and handing Nifkil's pack over to the Fourth. This afforded the Janissary the stolen Writ of Al-Pesh and ensured that we of the Rose lacked leverage over the Janissary and Astronomers. Leverage that would, if things played out naturally, inevitably allow us to secure the Torchbearers' independence as well as control trips into the undercity.

I do not expect you, now that you have become Legate, to acquiesce to every want and demand of the Rose. But I would at least expect you not to actively harm the efforts of we of the Cinquefoil and the many other allies of ours who helped us get you elected.

If, however, this is a sign that the Janissary will not receive a single dinar in the next allotment, I would be perfectly assuaged. I am old, you see, and sometimes the near-sightedness of my vision makes me think the worst of others.

I would appreciate some clarity on this matter, as I would hate to misunderstand the circumstances.

Condottiero,

Your Balestriere and I had an understanding about what was to be done with Nifkil's pack and why it was relevant to pursue this bounty not just for the dinar but for the political leverage it would afford us.

Imagine my surprise when the entirety of the pack was handed over to the Fourth Legion in exchange for coin. Coin which, I should be plain, was eventually taken directly from the state and stricken from our next allotment.

Surely the Banda Rossa has more foresight than to gnaw on the Janissary's boot for a few paltry dinar, no? If this is the way you expect your men to cooperate with the Cinquefoil Rose, the Balladeers and Sisters will need to reconsider whether your men are worth involving in sensitive matters without explicit contracts.

I would like an explanation.

Confidante and friend,

A great shadow lurks now beneath the Gutters. Many a tongue waggles of its origins and purpose. Many accusations of guilt are levied. I know you have been party to these expeditions and have a desperate need for a cool, tempered perspective on the matter, unburdened by politics and ambition.

Might I steal your company to discuss what has occurred and what we might do to avert future disaster?

Friends among the green,

In ages perhaps too long past, I worked with now Lieutenant Rennik Colmes to unearth criminals and wrongdoers of various degrees. It has come to my attention that there are those among your ranks that harbor similar disappointment at the ease with which Mae Stern and Cosine Mevura yet walk free in spite of their egregious offenses against the Well.

I would ask those of you for a mind towards the Halls of Jurisprudence to find me, that we might better discuss the details of the case and see them inflicted with a measure of justice.
