+1. Spending all that time on a ritual just to lose it due to NWN crashing is extremely frustrating.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Muningo Wrielle
March 05, 2021, 05:34:52 AM
Hi all,

It's been awesome fun, thank you to every player and DM I've had the privilege of interacting with.
Retiring Muningo as I'm starting to really struggle OOCly with having no supplies, xp or gp to even kind've taunt with and rather than do something stupid like suicide for the sake of it, I'd rather just send him off. :)

Muningo was originally meant to be a LE Rogue with the Merchant Lord perk. Originally, was meant to tie in with RwGs cult, and also establish himself as a fence for Team Nature.
This all took a turn during a fey event ran by DM SkagHunter & DM Equinox, where he very, very quickly ended up going down a disturbing and dark path.

Thanks for the rivalry between your blackjack, Bio, and thankyou to a lot of the other players for not just killing me dead, and allowing some conflict to really brew, this has been my best experience on an EFU PC to date, so thankyou, really.

Muningo never made it above level 6, and even took a level of Druid to represent IC happenings, let's see some stats:

Let's see some EFUSL notes that aren't too spoilery. :)

Lured Ghyl out in to the Weald and slaughtered them, creating a fey totem and enabling other hijinks. (DM Skag)
Participated in Fey Hunting Event - hunted a "Giant Sabre Tiger" in the mists. (Killed the last existing Sabre Tiger). (led by DM Equinox and DM SkagHunter).
Crept along the rooftops and in to the boarding house in the Burgage, forcing a kid to slit the throat of a Blackjack and drink his blood, to save his own mothers life. (DM Skag).
Left behind evidence of broken lockpick and a silver dagger given to the child.
Poisoned the food relief drive organised by Emmet and Frobo.
Attempting to get the other hins ostracized, driving them towards House Haremarch, or the Fey.
Murdered his own fey copy, by snapping his neck with his own sling. (DM Skag).
Worked with Arturo to taunt Frank via sending.
Sneaking past ring doors with people, in the hopes of drawing the Kings creatures and punishment upon them.

Now, let's see my loot:

Giant props to Frobo & Team Halfling for trying to rescue Muningos evil as hell soul, and props to Aysun for dragging my ass there instead of the FD, despite it being 100% warranted! (My poor sling got sacrificed </3)

A screeny of some other hijinks, I would post far more, but I'm certain a lot of it is very spoilery...

Thanks to everyone again, it's been fun as fuck and would highly recommend playing a conflict heavy PC to anyone who hasn't yet.

General Discussion / Re: Positive Vibes Corner

Just want to say thankyou to the DMs and players alike.

Just when I start to really feel the pinch and everything being stacked up against me, something happens that re-affirms that desire to push through it and continue raising hell. When EFU is good, it's outright fucking amazing. Props to every single on of you.

My favorite thing in EFU is when PC encounters feel like scripted random encounters from other videogames, which is one of the best facets of life with EFU and the Rings. Walking along the road and there's just... this dude there.

Two nights ago I was just wandering around and bumped into another PC who was also wandering around and it lead to some intense character driven RP, well away from the hub and all the action, and was just this hilariously completely random encounter in which our PCs otherwise wouldn't have likely met. Circumstances were there and the stars aligned and suddenly these two dudes on very different paths suddenly just chilling around a fire.

The kind of shit that happens IG that you couldn't even pretend to make up,  Sometimes just getting out and wandering by yourself with another PC leads to some truly fun moments away from the usual hustle and bustle the grind and etc.

It has such an authentic and organic vibe which no amount of "Trying to meet up" can ever really capture, and little moments like that add such a feeling of life to the server.

+1 to this. Everyone has been bloody awesome this time around. EFU never fails to surprise and deliver. Props to RwG for slumming it and trying to make something work. Props to everyone who plays tasteful villains as well, seeing characters played so well and with depth is inspiring to someone who predominately plays fencesitter PCs. Keep it up all. :)

Agree 100%. Wizards already get to coast along with alchemy/herbalism, why can't another class be better at it?

Thanks for the brief back and forward with Fentyl. :)

Introductions and Group Management / Calling all PCs
September 28, 2020, 05:28:58 AM
I'm not much good at writing these things up, but there's a ton of things in EFU that can be done, that often some fringe PC concepts don't get the chance to flesh out.

This isn't for a faction, or even a regular 'playing group'. This is more for PCs that have real cool ideas but are struggling to execute them, or find themselves involved in a niche that most other PCs aren't interested in alone.

I'll be seeking PCs of all kinds, brutes, scouts, vagrants, beggars, resistance fighters (of either peer/ticker/non ticker variant) depending on the task at hand.
If you see something that kind of catches your interest from my notices, etc, don't hesitate to shoot me a post via the forums, or hit me up in sendings ICly - more than happy to work with folk and incorporate them!

Just keep in mind though, its not so much looking for a 'friendly' group, I invite people wanting to mug me, manipulate me (and vice versa) or just plain explore some places, or get up to some scheming and see what we can achieve and hatch out.

Keep your eyes on this space, I've got the interest of a DM or two and am looking forward to getting the chaos rolling. :)

Suggestions / Re: Reintroduce variety to L9-10 quests
September 11, 2020, 05:42:00 PM
If you're level 10, you should be at that point on the server where you can leverage other things for supply.

RwG has written about this several times. If you're doing max 8-9 quests, those quests SHOULD be challenging without an established PC helping them crush it.
Not all quests deeper in the rings are extremely long slugfests, and most of these 'difficult quests' can be done by level 7-8 groups that are willing to use even minimal supply without being crushbot optimized groups.

EDIT: The same thing happens with quest trains and having too many people, forcing them to sit out. Usually as the one who sits out, it's tough shit. Not everything is fair and the rewards from trash island are ridiculously good for the challenge posed. A lot of the quests have pretty damn good rewards. Make use of the cure minor trinkets, etc. It sucks and can be a pain but you'll find your supply goes a lot further.

Was a blast playing him from start until finish. Thanks to everyone I played with.

Special thanks to the wizards at the end letting me monologue a bit and a little apology for not being as "in to it" as I could've been.

Bug Reports / Re: Spider quest - factions
May 13, 2020, 07:22:26 AM
He is referring to the quest which has a stone spider statue out the front of it.

It has a bunch of swarms in it, and medium/large broodspiders. EFUSL hasn't tracked the quest name so I can't provide it either sorry.

Suggestions / Re: Associations and Ring Running

Comes down to how people want to spend their time. Sometimes, the remoteness of the rings and knowing the time and effort invested in to it really makes it pay off when you crack a challenge or when you meet others deeper in.

I don't see any issue with people investing their time in to the Deeper Rings vs logging in to 99 and crushing quests and trying to solve everything with PvP. Different playstyles for different folks.

"I don't know, but I definitely feel it cheapens to have new PCS join up just to feel like they have to ring run or they're isolated from the rest of their Association or left to "Hold down the Fort" while these big prominent PCs come and go from the hub."

I agree with you 100% RWG. Every PC should earn it, every, single, time. I've straight up abstained from ring challenges I've beaten before, while the rest of the group was completing them. It makes it so much better.

So, how many keys until a PC isn't allowed into factions? That seems to be what is being proposed. If you get a 95 keystone, is that then cause to have the PC stripped of 99 status? Where will those goalposts be planted?

Also, maybe I/my group is doing it wrong, since we only do Ring Running things one night a week (for things related to our factions, in Caston's case finding specific components/goods to sell, the stonebuilders looking for certain things about their faction, etc), and spend the 6 other days of the week in the 99 area, just as before. Ring Running itself doesn't imply the PC does nothing BUT spend time in the rings.

I suppose I'm not seeing this as as big an issue as its being portrayed here. People spend time outside the Hubs in quests/seams a lot as it is. A quicker return route, be it canal shortcuts, fey crossroads, portals, or whatever would be a bit more helpful to funnel things back, but its still only a 20ish minute run back.

Bang on the money.

A lot of the Stonebuilders are using this as a chance to explore an arc/metaplot that's been abandoned - otherwise the mysticism that everyone has signed up for is effectively dead, which would result in a faction that the PCs legitimately aren't getting anything out of, at the moment.

I mean if push came to shove, I'd leave the Stonebuilders because apart from continued player efforts to involve our faction in lore hunting and ringrunning - there's nothing else left other than the traditional faction vs faction stuff.

For me, with all of the lore being gated behind ringrunning, or DM attention - it's a no-brainer what I need to do to progress. Also the groups staying together or splitting isn't even done OOCly either, the group I'm in nearly imploded, and ICly, we had viable  PCs that we had discussed showing interest in even as our original Ringrunning company, but excluded them to keep our group exclusive.

I agree with more PCs having a pair of balls and some convictions though when deeper in the rings.

I support this idea as well - even if you could use them as bait.

Liking the new fishing system too.
