Suggestions / Re: Player-cast cure spells
November 29, 2020, 06:49:02 AM
I feel like even with this change, a Cleric/Bard still is unlikely to prepare Cure spells. Why would a level 8 Bard prepare even Cure Light Wounds over Magic Weapon / Protection from Alignment / etc. - the 1 regeneration for 8 rounds is not really that impressive. It's just 8 more health.

I am a mechanical noob, though, so maybe even temporary regeneration has benefits that I am unclear about.

Perhaps we could take a leaf out of EFUR's pages:

  • The Elves had the Gardens of the Lost, and their own Seldarine-centric plots which eventually concluded in the apotheosis of an elven PC. On top of that, the elves had their own political place in Sanctuary, being a voting bloc, pursuing an 'elven agenda' and seeking to elect their own elven directors.
  • The Halflings had the Scrappers, which were fairly competent scavengers of the Machine (many prominent Scrapper PCs, such as Booker). They were politically involved, and also had their own deity-plot, with memorable PCs such as Kora Bramblefoot pushing it.

We do not really have something analogous to these in EFU:COR, I think, other than perhaps the Gnomes with the Toyfolly and the Dwarves with 94. However, those do not seem very well developed.

The emphasis, in my humble opinion, should be accessibility to new PCs and players new to the server.

For example, elves in the Gardens can rest for free, and are protected within, along with other rooms and corridors and specific Elf-centric NPC advisors. It was also very accessible, and a completely new elf PC can immediately get in with the Gardens, as compared to the Dwarves (94 being a problem for immediate access) or the Gnomes (do the Toyfolly even have a HQ for PCs to rest and join up in? I don't know. I don't think a new Gnome PC would either!).

Consider these possible additions to EFU:COR:

  • A dwarven embassy from the Bulwark in Tickertowne, with an NPC talking about the Ancestors and talking about how he's here to establish a trade route, but with hints of ulterior agendas.
  • A perpetual Seam maintained by an Elven wizard or multiple Elven wizards (hehe, call them Brightmage for Summer), or some secret Elven magicks (consider the Underweald), but in a more accessible place such as Tickertowne (or the Commons?), with only elves permitted to enter. It leads to a woodland realm shrouded in perpetual twilight, causes Seam-sickness to all non-Elves, and provide certain hooks for elven plots (Knights of Autumn, the Prince of Winter, if I recall...?).

I think that they may make the server and the chapter a richer place, and make it easier for new players to get involved with non-human races.

All of VP's ideas are good, but they are not very accessible for new PCs or players new to the server, who may not be comfortable at all with living outside the hubs, yet.

Come the 4th of November, I shall start on a new and incredibly demanding job which requires that I slave away for the corpocracy. This means that from then on, my activity will be much diminished, and I can likely only log in during the weekends. I am not entirely sure of my schedule, yet, but I do not have high hopes.

I'll try to be around when I can, nevertheless, and in the meantime, Eleleth shall start searching for more Nepherazims and maybe a squire.

From tomorrow onwards, my time shall likely be much diminished.

We are planning to schedule regular weekly ringrunning sessions on Saturdays, simply because scheduling is something of an inevitability to deconflict RL obligations.

If you are interested in creating a PC to join in the concept, please do keep that in mind, and of course, feel free to PM/Discord me if there's any questions. :)

The rewards for gladiators appear to have been (silently?) adjusted.

Beating the Black Knight gave me 20 XP.

With Evander's player taken by RL, the Kingward Pilgrimage is down to 5 people.

We have room for 2 more, though do note that joining is still subject to IC interactions!

Our Ringrunning schedule is probably going to turn weekly soon as well, due to various IRL obligations.

Suggestions / Re: Knighted PCs receive wage

This is absolutely, completely, not at all self-serving, but -

I would like to second the suggestion of knighted PCs receiving wages from their fiefs.

Bug Reports / House Sunpurse's Unholy Transgressions

Madeline's politeness was not reciprocated. She also seem to think that House Nephezar still has pets.

This probably isn't a bug as much as an anachronism that has yet been updated.

Incredible PC. She really livened up and revived the Blackjacks as a force of relevance in the political landscape of the Ward and Ring. It's an utter shame to me that she died so quickly, and I do so loathe the recent slew of Blackjack PC FDs...

You could have had a WHOLE PET CHAMBER to yourself!

But noooooo... :(

Also let's not forget the valiant sacrifice that ended those who were hoping to team up against the dog...

Suggestions / Neph | Handing in Blood for Prestige/Gold
October 05, 2020, 04:51:50 PM
Considering the new laws, and the very real difficulty of enforcing them against other PCs, I would suggest that it be made possible to hand in the blood of other PCs by House Nephezar Retainers for blood/prestige.

The collected blood could then be reflected in a non-withdrawable endless chest/display.

A PC's blood should also only be registrable once. This prevents abuse, as only the first donation is worth anything. This also rewards Retainers who are diligent.

The amount of Prestige/Gold could scale to the PC's level at the time at which the blood is handed in. I would propose a rate of level * 10. A level 3 PC would be worth 30 prestige/gold while a level 10 PC would be worth 100 prestige/gold.

The blood can also then be withdrawn with DM permission for certain IC rituals/ceremonies.

Your reputation was so terrifying that we joked about marrying Evander to you to make you Nephezar's champion.

Kudos to an excellent character. :D

One of Eleleth's first friend, and amongst the first few to believe in her.

I am sorry to see Miriam gone.  :'(
