Last month I updated my Wineskin thread with a download for the wrapper and instructions on dropping in your own NWN files. The toolset doesn't work, but the player and DM clients worked for some playing around when I tested it. If you let Parallels expose the Windows drive to the Mac, you should be able to drag-and-drop to the drive_c folder inside the app.

General Discussion / Re: Shall we go EE?

I can't say I'll come back, but if there's a few of us willing to make a pool to help current players get the EE, I can pitch in a few copies.

General Discussion / Re: NWN on Mac OS High Sierra
December 17, 2017, 06:57:06 AM
I use a Wineskin wrapper, which I've put onto OneDrive: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmC6UtszZXkazjdsphaONxLFYa7k

I just confirmed it works in High Sierra.

I set up my wrapper using the GOG version of NWN so it currently expects a C:\Program Files\GOG.com\ folder, but you can right-click > Show Package Contents > and then run the Wineskin app inside the app package to go to Advanced and select nwn.exe from a different path after copying your NWN application to some place under drive_c. I think the EFU EXE also works but it's been a while.

Some notes:

This wrapper uses a 1920x1080 virtual desktop in a window. I'm pretty sure any full screen or native window modes crash or run the risk of xserv misbehaving. (But it's been a while since I made the wrapper.)

The toolset will crash.

But hopefully this will tide you over until the Enhanced Edition releases.

I only ran into the black screen once. Not sure why it happened. It also seems to take a long time to load now, although I have added almost 2 gigs of overrides and haks; it's probably mounting everything as a virtual drive for Wine and the myriad small files are bogging it down.

Also: updated the first post with a new icon for Mac!

Re: Too slow: I think the editing could be a little tighter, but that's it. When the narrator is speaking it has a good pace, but there's too much silence between sentences/slides.

I think having a collection of music cues would be better than finding full tracks, and that could either fill the time between images or emphasize a particular statement, and would be very flexible to re-use in other videos.

Thus concludes my thoughts as a guy who took a film class once.

My thoughts about applying this to EFU are still coming together, because there's a lot of potential here. Addendum: I'm speaking as a fellow player and would-be creative soul. Not as a DM.

That's what I use for my 2000, XP, Vista, and 8 virtual machines. Sadly, I just can't get genuine Windows to play nice with NWN. Just about every other Windows application, though, I run in one of my Parallels VMs (and usually works great).

Quote from: Oskar Maxon;350533I'm using playonmac for nwn, also on the principle of wine. How is it working so far, Scotty? Any glitches in particular?
I changed it to force the use of a window and emulated desktop at a fixed resolution, since I frequently switch between using my laptop on its own, as well as plugged into a display, and NWN was launching full-screen and having trouble if the resolution was different from the previous launch. Other than that, nothing Wine-specific.

I think the medicine bags are my favorite non-DM-loots in EFU, and I am intrigued by this suggestion to make them more interesting by healing faster with SF:Heal.

Quote from: PlayaCharacter;243435That thing on the top banner looks like Michael Jackson in Thriller.

Cannot unsee.
Cannot unhear!

Not that I'd want to.

Now every time I see the banner I hear Thriller in my head...

Quote from: ExileStrife;240852It's mostly my bad for not preventing this.  But I still own the website, so I'll get around to fixing it probably this weekend (despite my friends coming to visit).  I think this is the most elaborate thing somebody has done...I'm just glad ScottyB was a former DM and probably did it all in good spirit.  :S
I (think I) am flattered that you think I could pull this off, but all my EFU credentials are on my (currently dead) desktop PC. This isn't me.

For what it's worth, this suggestion (progressive DCs going from partial information to complete information) is common in D&D.

Scripting it to omit random words by % would be a pain unless we change translations to go to your chat log instead of the pop-up dialog, but having different text on DC 30, 40 or 50 (and any degree of granularity in-between, really) wouldn't be hard. Then DMs can specifically omit certain words that make it easier or harder to guess.

Quote from: GoblinSapper;219260indeedly, it would require alot of haks, and not be compatible with Wep Focus/spec/imp crit, and buff spells would not apply to it.
It would require a hak modifying one file (baseitems.2da) and spells like magic weapon would indeed work. There would be no bonus feats, that part is correct.

Still, the hak would be mandatory (can't do it as an override) because people without it would crash every time the new item appears.

Adding a new weapon type would require haks.

Some of these spells can be cast by clerics, druids, and even rangers too.

Other DMs are almost certainly the other way around, but your OOC thoughts and observations are more important to me than your character's - unless I'm possessing Intryzz. Which never happens anymore. :(

(That said, I like to see PCs emote the hell out of their personal habits, and say interesting things. But it's easier for you to tell me about your character than to make me listen to their internal dialog.)
