Zol Nur Nadiri,

Live and drink! I have found the perfect beach vacation destination for you, and little Big Bashir who's fame reaches even here upon the shores of Qadira.

Five thousand dinars is the sum, and I shall ferry you and your company there... though a number no greater than six!

Balladeer,

To make ready the stadium is not such a simple thing; there are the affairs of cleaners, and builders, and preparers of all manner to consider...

The invoice of such a thing would cost 10,000 dinars. A great sum for many, for all those the coins go to help... for the Cinquefoil Rose, however, whom receive payment from the Government for their duties... a paltry sum!

Deliver it to me, and determine the day of your training event, and I will make the stadium ready.

Wayward Narwen,

Who has told you this?

You ask why we reached out to them, instead of you? A simple answer. We did not reach out to them, they reached out to us.

The Astronomers were guided to the Spring's Gift, by vision from the stars. A glimpse into the past. They saw a caravan of our people, attacked and the defenders, feared slain. I did not trust them at first, but we spoke, and through their words I deemed their intentions to be pure. Even when warned that they walked into certain death, they decided to search in spite of this. They determined it a duty, to rid the world of a foul substance known as 'Dretch'.

They wished to help, and they did. They found the caravan and what became of our people, and delivered the news to us.

If you think we have err'd in this, I would counsel for you to consider why? Has your time amongst the people of Ephia's Well turned you distrustful? Where is the brave and joyful Narwen who left our beloved Gift, so many months ago? What constant among all this assumed web of mistrust and suspicion is there, sweet girl? I think perhaps you know the answer, hard as it may be to accept.

In future, you should reflect, and consider, before bringing your barbs to bear.

As for your proposal - if the people of Ephia's Well are all liars, and manipulators, and murderers, what drives you to invite our people there? Why would we wish to walk among them, if they are as you say?

That you suggest the children of the Spring are not already so protected worries me...

Legate Ricario Cassella,

The Masters of Alkab are greatly concerned of the reports and disruptions they have been privy to, since your rise to power.

We of Alkab pride ourselves on ensuring safety and security of our shipments. Until recently, Ephia's Well was a welcome stop on our caravan trails. A bastion of law, and order. A glimmering jewel.

Now, it threatens to become yet another island of chaos in the Great Sea.

You will deliver the sum of 50,000dr within the next week. You shall further provide assurances and apologies, in person, that such insolent action will never again happen. Do this, and there shall be no further cause for concern.

Dan and I have a long history throughout EFU's versions. Meeting early, and becoming fast friends, and working together in later versions on plots, areas and crazy ideas.

EFU would not be the same without him, and every day I am thankful that he remains in not only EFU's life, but my own as well.

The Most Esteemed Hamdan al-Hamdan,

As I write this letter, I sit here with the Envoy Raonn Otannuk who has returned to me after a long and arduous journey through dangerous lands. As he recounts the journey, and its destination, I am aghast.

For you see, we esteemed and learned scholars of Tlonsiyya have often been told of the warm and welcoming nature of Ephia's Well. However, it seems as though, with the recent recounting of my beloved Envoy, all those who told us thus are liars.

I could perhaps have forgiven a cold reception, and considered it simply ignorance, for I understand our settlement to be a unique one.

Yet actively drawing weapons on an Envoy, threatening instead to cut off his head, and feed it to lions? Numerous other threats - no, I will use the word your own reception used - *promises* of murder of my Envoy.

This. This I cannot forgive.

We will not be returning. Until reparations are paid for these threats and promises of harm to my good people, no trader, delegation or citizen of Tlonsiyya will pass the Gates of Ephia's Well.

Threats and promises, I remind you, that would ordinarily be considered tantamount to a declaration of war.

However, as I understand, a delegation of your own is being prepared. We will welcome them, and their gifts and pleas of forgiveness.

You will find our own people to be far more pleasant company, and the learned scholars of our Madrasa eager to speak.

General Discussion / Re: DM Appreciation Day - Abala
October 23, 2023, 02:51:40 PM
Abala and I have had a lot of back and forth, blowouts, sworn alliances (swords together) across the years she has played and DM'd here; from me deeply frustrating her paladin with a sword that gets better when beheading CE people (and her only ever killing Neutral Evil or Lawful Evil people), to the early days of her DMing where I threw her into the deep end and taught her how to run a combat event with all our tools (which she has never touched again, preferring instead to focus on small scale stories and RP events), to the work together on v5 Rings, and then the dreaded v6 development. She has surpassed me (not a hard thing to do...) in every way and the world is richer for it. Here's to many more years!

The only part of this we can probably easily look at changing is the Archaeology turn in numbers. When first created, we didn't really know how common/uncommon certain things would be and how easy it would be to do X, Y, Z so we set the turn ins conservative. We can probably look at amending them, and I think we can do it centrally, but will need someone more techy to look at it.

My dear Ophelia,

Thank you for reaching out once more, I of course remember our discussion and meeting in great detail!

Let us meet sooner rather than later.

I will send a runner, when the time is right!

Live and drink,
Legate John Syter

Scholar Marcellus,

You have some interesting thoughts! An astute mind, certainly, and one perhaps worthy of apprenticeship, as one of my very own flock. We shall see!

Reviewing your debate questions, I believe I have a preference!

"Were the Stars and the Celestial Disc created by the Gods, as a way to speak to us, to guide, to aid us, or do they pre-date the gods?"

This one, or at least, this part of it! I think some lively debate might be had about it, don't you think?

I shall confer with my colleagues, and review other submissions.
