Screen Shots & Obituaries / Durga
June 13, 2014, 10:45:09 PM
Durga was what I'd call a "low evil" character. He would only commit evil acts when it was necessary to achieve his objectives, namely, generally speaking, help his people. He was rather sociable for an orcblood and felt confortable with non-violent interactions with people of other races.

He was a priest of a tribe of the Spine of the World who was wiped out, leaving him as the only survivor. Having participated in many victorious battles before that, he was given many slaves, who he treated well. Through them he learned a bit of the wider world.

When he died, I was going to apply for the Sojourners. Believing Sanctuary was doomed, he intended to look for the world(s) the orcs of Faerun came from, warn them of the Dread Empire's expansion, settle there along with all those who would have joined him, and prepare for the inevitable invasion!

Well, that's what he was planning anyway. :)

I know there was an orc faction just some days ago, and I know there are awesome proposals for pc factions right now, but I'll still give it a try: it's one more orc faction, but this will be open to all monstruous races in general; the idea being I don't really care if you are evil as long as you are quiet about it and you being evil doesn't screw the whole of us!

So, if you got a kobolds, goblin, etc, now is the time, because honestly you won't last long and you know it. It's already hard to live in a post-apocalypse last-standing-beacon-of-hope which will be wiped out sooner or later, but it's much harder when every other survivor will kill you on sight! Of course, you will most likely be used as trap-springer, human -er- humanoid shield, pack mule etc. but that will already be a considerable improvement on your current situation!

There is a lot of opportunities for conflict, both inside and outside:

- Kobolds against goblins
- Kobolds and goblins being bullied by orcs
- Orcs of different faiths fighting among themselves
- All of them against the rest of the server

Despite all of this, I intend for the faction to be long-lived, avoiding to make too many ennemies, using strategy and even diplomacy to survive and accomplish our goals. Which could be:

- Meet the orogs to talk about the Dread Empire (wouldn't it be cool, honestly??)
- Become the dominant power in Lower
- Get baublium and help the sojourners with their planar ship or whatever, because let's face it Faerun is going to hell eventually (I actually intend to apply for this faction)
- Of course there are these dwarves and whiney elves in Lower who will have to be taken care of eventually...

This is a very loose concept for now(so loose I haven't even put a name on it), suggestions are welcome!

Character: Durga

At some point while doing the kobold quest, my char was permanently slowed, and resting didn't fix it. I thought it would go with the reset, but after the reset I found not only that he is still slowed, but he has a permanent dex penalty of 4!

By slowed I meant his movement is decreased

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Marion Sileyna
August 01, 2013, 11:08:28 PM
After finally getting over Marion's death and deciding to make a thread for her, after finally sorting the pics, after converting them all to bmp format because no site seems to support tga, and after uploading them, here it is.

Marion was created with a simple and at the same time complex objective in mind: to play a non-evil Loviatan cleric who would still be utterly faithful to her deity. Marion believed that people could be improved, hardened through pain, be it physical or psychological, such as being told "hard truths" in the hopes they would arose them to fight their weaknesses. While she despised the "backwards" people of Mistlocke, she truly cared about them and anyone else who she thought was desserving of it.

Her interpretation of the concept of "evil" was not so different than that of most people, and anytime she could, she would oppose those who would seek to kill or inflict great harm on others with no other objective than to benefit themselves; to her, this was truly "good", and good is what she wanted to do. However, she considered that helping others without anything done or given in return and without having them eventually become able to care for themselves would make them weak, and she considered this "evil", just as she considered Ilmater an evil god, altough she never believed that Ilmateris themselves desserved the worst of punishments (they were misguided) - unless they were trying to kill her of course :D She expected favours done to others be paid back, and she did not like being done favours she could not repay either.

To tell the truth, playing such a character proved to be very difficult for me and at times frustrating, she never accomplished anything, but I had nonetheless fun with her her and I can happily say my time was not wasted!

I want to say thanks to all those who interacted with her and made her entertaining to play, and I can only hope you enjoyed as well.

Maybe she was a bit insane, but she was f-ing hot.

Skills: Discipline, Concentration, Persuade, some Bluff
Feats: Weapon Proeficiency (exotic), Weapon Focus (guess what), Toughness, Skill Focus (Discipline), Brew Potion
Domains: Strenght, Vengeance

I am most grateful to JaydeMoon, for giving me advice and giving Marion this armor. It was a reward from Thane Longbeard for her help in defeating the Wild Orc Fire Clan, which had attacked the Delving. How it ended in a Dwarven vault is a mystery ;) She would wear it for the rest of her life (reforged); you will understand why.

Special thanks go also to Sternhund (and any other dm who may have been involved) for this little event.

Marion was having a spar (and was about to win, but she healed her opponent to make the fun last longer) while the renowned PIERRO LAGUARDE OF THE HONORABLE SWORD CLAN was watching...

He challenges the victor to a duel, hoping to impress her...

And loses. Tears in his eyes, he fled in total embarrassment. Later, however...

Marion suspected that the other guy couldn't seriously have attempted to rob her at knifepoint in the middle of the Mist End, and indeed it was obvious Pierro had paid him to fake the whole thing when he calmly stood up and left, uninjured :D

Special thanks to those players who risked their chars to save her butt :)

She made ennemies of course. When Hrothgar Thunderfist asked her to pay the Adventurer's Tax (150 coins), she spent like ten times this amount to fight him, and she still had to run away. But at least Loviatar was happy!

She was beaten up on more than one occasion, such as this one, when she attempted to take down Grey Pebl, guilty of consorting with monsters, plague spreading etc. but happened to be "reformed" at the time she intended to kill him and failed. Oddly, the fact he had gone nuts probably saved her life.

She met people who were even less normal than she was.

Yes, her children were actually floatins skulls o.O

Wild magic???

She converted only one person, and almost converted another, but she was so bitchy about the terms of the ritual (even for a Loviatan) that he refused at first, and when she was going to propose more lenient terms, he died!

As said above, Marion truly cared for others. When a desperate mother called for people to retrieve her son, she went not only in the hope of dealing punishment to those who had taken him away, but out of a sincere desire to save a human being as well.

They were punished (with the help of a gnome npc who was so awesome that the Chosen ran away simply when they knew he was coming), but sadly it was too late. And all Marion could do afterwards was to carry his body back to his mother...

I had few occasions to gain points towards good as a Loviatan, but she did get a few points when she tried to persuade a child from the Ill Companions to go inside the village. This happened when they had arrived near Mistlocke but were not allowed to enter yet.

One of my objectives was for Marion to be respected and even liked despite her fondness of whips and such. Not only were people in general far less hostile to her than I expected, but some even called themselves her friends!

Or... Something like that.

Not only did they call themselves her friend, but they also behaved as such. One of them, someone she thought was gone forever, did her a last favour. A favour she would never be able to repay...

Quote from: WeaverificTwo necromancers and one of their guards argued over what to do with her corpse... as they argued and almost came to blows, they suddenly screamed in rage and looked about for someone invisibly... for Marions body, simply... vanished.

They never seemed to know what occurred.

Elsewhere, some time later....

I received this a short time after Marions' death, and it improved my mood! Thanks a lot Weaverific :)

Bug Reports / Not receiving the Caermyn wage
May 12, 2013, 06:30:11 PM
My character, Marion Sileyna, is not receiving her wages after joining. I did dye her armour and put it back on, but it didn't work. I thought it was maybe because my armor was still tied to the Muster, so I tried with a brigand's tunic but it didn't work either... I tried relogging, but no luck.

I did walk around some minutes to be sure, but definitely it's not working.

Suggestions / Mist Ogres' quest
November 17, 2012, 08:53:38 PM
The reward is... lame, and that is an understatement. We fought tons of Mist Ogres, a sub-boss with 20+ab, and a boss who was simply ridiculously hard to kill. I believe the trog invasion that followed gave a better reward.

Suggestions / Stargazers
November 03, 2012, 01:53:02 PM
First of all, could someone please invite me to the Stargazer forum? Thanks.

I believe there should be more starting gear available to new Stargazer pcs. For instance, the stats on the Jaguar gear are nice, but it's a
1 AC cloth... While my character is a ranger and would need at least a 3 AC armor to be decent in fight. Because of this, I'm forced to either use the ruined chainmail available at the starting area, buy the armor from the gazer merchant (258 gp), or look out there for a decent armor. I'm guessing any Stargazer warrior would have at least a decent light armor to begin with, else how would they have survived so far? :p

Also, two beginner quests in the Eeyrie are unclear. The one near the roots is druid only but it isn't mentioned anywhere, and in the other you are supposed to look for a bush nearby but the npc doesn't make any mention of this, or of anything else for that matter (she simply talks about telescopes).

When you post bounties or any other notices where it is question of wanted pcs; if you can describe them, please do so in the notice! Don't merely mention their name, because characters have no way of knowing who they are unless they already met said wanted pc. Even if the pc has no character description, details such as hair colour, clothing, or weapons can be immensely useful.

Introductions and Group Management / The Covenant
July 31, 2012, 01:01:29 AM
Although I am still welcoming people who would be interested into playing a Loviatan character alongside mine, I had an idea for a broader concept.

The Covenant is a faction that will be guided by the old saying "The end justifies the means". Although not outright evil, much of what we may have to do will not be, let's say, very paladinish. Torture, spying, and assassination will be among the means we will employ, altough it will all be for the greater good!

Pretty much any class or alignement will do, except paladins and chaotic evil characters, and probably most lawful good characters as well. Help me create a faction that will make Dirty Harry look like a model cop!

General Discussion / Using colours
May 31, 2012, 09:37:02 PM
As everyone knows, we can use different colours when writing posts for flavour, and I was just wondering if there is one or more colours, like the one I use in my IC posts, people feel unconfortable with when reading.

Introductions and Group Management / Church of Loviatar
November 10, 2011, 10:25:30 PM
So I would like to start a Loviatan faction that will be different of what would be expected. Instead of being outright evil, the people in this faction would try to earn a place among the "decent" factions of Mistlocke and become one of the most powerful and influential. This could be done by:

- Fighting the ennemies of Mistlocke

- Fighting the influence of groups such as the Brotherhood, not by killing its members, but by debating with them! Or be successful in areas they were not (for example, deal with the criminality in Old Stones)

- Spread a non-evil, more neutral version of the Loviatan faith; establish a place of worship

These are just some examples of what we could aim to do.

Defend the Loviatan dogma from a neutral point of view can be very difficult, but it will be fun to have mostly non-lethal conflict with the goodies for a change, as we try to present ourselves as the real good guys, who don't mind to get our hands dirty if the end justify it. Much of Loviatan dogma is about becoming stronger through the enduring of pain and an "eye for an eye" mentality, and so we should focus on these aspects. Of course, you could still play an outright evil Loviatan pc and oppose your fellow faction members.

Question, comments, interest?

Oh, and don't worry: despite the faction not being evil, there will still be torture, inter-whipping, self-whipping, black leather and such. Because let's be honest, why would you play a Loviatan if you don't have a serious issue about repressed sadism you need to unleash?

Yup.

Off-topic Discussion / "She was beautiful"

A parody of James Blunt's song "You're beautiful" I found it hilarious :D

QuoteThis is freakin' brilliantâ€"whoops! I started way, way, way too early. What? No. Just keep going? Yeah, it's fine. Cheers.

This is freakin' brilliant.
The embarrassment I endure
I thought I saw an angel
I was completely sure
She smiled at me on the subway
Turned out she was a man
I didn't know until I tried to sleep with her
After 8 black and tans

But she was beautiful, She was beautiful
She was beautiful, I swear
When I saw her face, it was in a crowded place
And I didn't see the bump right here
I shouldn't've drank so much beer.

Yeah, she had one lazy eye
But I couldn't tell in that light.
You should have seen the look on my face
When we got home that night.
And I said, "What the----oh my! Can we turn off the lights?"
But she just took off her clothes and my lust turned to fright.

But she was beautiful, She was beautiful
She was beautiful, I swear
When I saw her face, it was in a crowded place
And I didn't see the bulge right here.
Why did I drink so much beer?

No no no no no,
No no no no no no,
No no no no no no!

But she was beautiful, I promise she was beautiful
You gotta believe me she was beautiful, I swear.
I bet a flock of angels had smiles on their faces
As they watched me almost hook up with herâ€"himâ€"herâ€"himâ€"oh, gosh.
But it's time to face the truth
I got drunk and made out with a dude.
