I don't think I realized until months and months in (and subsequently ended up forgetting...) that this was your first PC - awesome job. I'm glad you've found EfU.

It was a lot of fun playing with you, from the ancient early days before House Blackhearth had even reared its head, to the legacy of Velstran diplomacy left behind by Adrian and attempts at vassalization, to the fallout of Diethard's disappearance and Isaiah's death and how those things changed Bristol & Lena's relationship, to the intrepid trekking across the Rings and finally reaching Baz'eel together.

Bristol may have been a bit of a bully, but I always enjoyed when Lalena was around; she was a consummate butterfly, always subtly evolving from one traumatic experience to the next.  I look forward to your future characters!

Thanks for being a part of Bristol's & Blackhearth's story and for letting us be part of yours.

Seconded on the particular punctuation marks.

FWIW, I've noticed a huge uptick in this since the forum maintenance. I haven't had issues with quotation marks or apostrophes in particular (I also write in Notepad after many hard lessons learned), but em dashes do now cut my posts off whereas they didn't before.

Isaiah was an incredibly well done PC and one of the best friends you could hope to have. The slow and organic way Mebril and Isaiah's friendship grew- from something vaguely manipulative on both their sides to something blisteringly sincere- was something else. There's really too much to get into, and the Bristol-Mebril-Isaiah dynamic (especially the Bristol-Isaiah one) is something I am going to miss. House Blackhearth existing at all as it does is probably due in part to Isaiah's helping our assorted bootstrapping. I have too many screenshots to know where I'd begin so I'd probably have to circle back to it.

One of the best PCs I've seen.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you, especially, for inspiring me to write with your character, and for all of the complexity Isaiah created an opportunity for.

QuoteFull + tremendously appreciative credit to RPG for the Blackhearth crest, which is a perfect interpretation of an otherwise totally bonkers mood board I sent him for inspiration.

Formal recruitment and explicit discussion of goals will be handled mostly IC, but I'm happy to chat about concepts or potential fits OOCly for those that might be interested in something long-term. Since it's a relatively small organization, compatible playtimes (heaviest overlap during EST evenings) will probably end up being relevant.

If you're interested, please feel free to reach out on Discord, or find Bristol Blackhearth and/or Mebril Kelteel IC.

The enigmatic and highly private House of Blackhearth made its modest but reliable wealth from many years of successfully procuring fine art, valuable texts, and historical artifacts, presumably from deeper Rings; the House's carefully kept conservatory gardens also yielded many high-priced ingredients for the savvy alchemist or collector of exotic flora. It is intimated that their roots are very old ones, but with such pedigree do come the blemishes of a long and storied history.

It's also known, at least by old blood, that the Blackhearths arrived in the Ward generations ago after vacating their first familial hold, a fortress known only as Castle Blackhearth. The circumstances of the family's departure and the fate of the keep are unclear and have been largely lost to time.

An ongoing illustrated history of the House, publicly available,  is also an IC work-in-progress by Bristol:

Blackhearth isn't (and isn't meant to be) the largest or the loudest player faction, but eventually it would of course be great to bring a couple PCs of the right fit into the fold.

Good Fit For Players Who Like:
A slow burn toward more long-term goals; politics (read: diplomacy) with a little mystery; dabbling and interacting with many different factions (but having a small, tight core with secrets); a little ring-running; making it up as they go to keep things fun.

PCs with an interest in (especially the darker side of) art and history, artists/authors/performers in general, historians and aspiring librarians, those invested in the idea of "old blood," characters with interest in ghosts or hauntings, and anyone with ambitions involving a castle (majordomo types, battlemages, stewards, handmaidens) could find a natural fit.

Probably Not a Good Fit For:
Extreme alignments/personalities, or characters who need instant gratification, might have a hard time finding a good fit.

By no means required reading, but these could give a sense of the House's flavor.

Been out unexpectedly in the hospital and undergoing some surgery—all seems well, now, so just recovering.

Apologies to anyone I ghosted mid-plot or who's been waiting on me for anything. See y'all IG again soon!

Just wanted to bump this, as it seems like this is still true as far as I can tell.

Greener RL pastures. Stay awesome, EfU.

I'd like to second at least the suggestion of some kind of storage or registry for these, for practical and logistical reasons!

Is a blood-only chest/receptacle with unlimited storage, maybe that rejects objects with names identical to ones it already contains, a possibility? I know the altar does something kind of similar, at least in terms of recognition, but we aren't using that currently for submissions under the new tithe.

Love, love, loved playing with Miriam as Eden.

Awesome to see all she accomplished.

Great PC.

I didn't get to interact with him directly much (maybe ever?), but I agree with RwG! I appreciate the flourishes put into the PC's public persona, which I enjoyed following loosely from afar.
