Suggestions / Examine Mark Reveals Appraise
May 21, 2020, 09:03:30 AM
What it says on the tin!

If the examiner has at least 11 modified Appraise: see the approximate value of the other character's Appraise value.

Useful for merchants. Doesn't have to be exclusive to rogues, since everyone has an Examine tool now. But it could be if the DMs think it would be better that way, maybe requiring 7 rogue levels?

Bug Reports / Stonebuilder Bugs
March 19, 2020, 07:28:57 PM
Came by to check things out. Discovered a few oddities.

[hide][/hide]

Only the breastplate uniform rack offers you a chance at buying it. The apron rack in particular inexplicably has Burnside's recruitment dialogue. The bunkmaster still checks for the Stonebuilder association flag, even though that flag no longer exists. There is a second breastplate rack next to the door leading into the Rock Stocks, in the corridor past Nana Noli, for no apparent reason.

Suggestions / Goat Skull
March 19, 2020, 06:51:21 PM
With the demise of the Butchers, I suggest that we add a simple placeable memorializing their most famous and hardworking PC.

It would be appropriate to do so by hanging the horned skull of a slain fiend somewhere in the Nephezar Refuge.

Bug Reports / Nephezar Bugs
March 09, 2020, 06:29:52 PM
For Nephezar Pets, the cloth and plate outfit, and their stag helm have each been overwritten by the items intended for actual Retainers.

For Nephezar Retainers, both the standard and masterwork cloaks cost gold, but should only cost prestige.

Inside Ring 99 - The Peerage Ward - Nephezar Refuge, Quartermistress Demetria Manlake and Thaumaturge Nathaniel Torromos are wearing our plate armor instead of the togas they are supposed to wear. More subtle a mix-up, one of the two guards in the same hall as Nathaniel is wearing an old silver mask instead of the new iron mask.

Within Ring 99 - The Peerage Ward, on top of the Refuge, Adazar Nephezar, Master of Quills, is also wearing plate armor instead of a toga. At the start of EFU:C, his toga had the custom modification of bird feet, per his unusual description and dialogue.

Roaming Ring 99 - The Peerage Ward, the generic Nephezar Guard NPCs populated by deltaTime's traffic system use Adazar's dialogue instead of the one liner they're supposed to.

It is possible that the unseen NPCs of Nicodemus, Nadia, and Adaion might also have their outfits mixed up.

Although Ring 99 - The Peerage Ward - Nephezar Refuge is meant to be protected from outside scrying and teleportation, because of its abundance of secretive sorcerers, this was not correctly set up. Instead of those flags being activated in the zone. Instead, it has been incorrectly configured, and not assigned as part of the Ring 99 spellcasting region at all. This has the interesting side effect of making Market Rumors inaudible in the Refuge.

Suggestions / Module Maintenance
January 08, 2020, 05:11:45 PM
This thread is intended to keep the DMs apprised of minor inconsistencies and "module lag." There are many small details to attend and there isn't time to do them all. Consequently, setting does not always reflect recent events. Posts here are to let them know of small things that they can update the next time they're seated at the toolset.

Ambient Nephezar guards use the dialogue of ol' uncle Adazar Nephezar.

This object silently self-destructs when activated despite clearly being meant to be a permanent, reusable item.

Bug Reports / Disabled Slots and Custom Items
November 16, 2019, 07:28:34 PM
An item that disables the head slot also disables the holdable objects, like books and shovels.

This is extremely inconvenient.

Can anything be done?

Suggestions / Sorcerer Bonus Feat
October 17, 2019, 07:04:13 PM
This idea came in EFU main, suggested by Knight of Pentacles, and would probably be enough to end the sense of disparity between sorcerers and wizards forever.

I recommend that an appropriate Spell Focus feat be attached to each sorcerer perk. The DMs could use Tala's existing perk innovation to directly apply the feat to character files. This move would help facilitate a diversity of builds and to improve the prospect of "double GSF" spell confluences (as would benefit, for example, evo/abj Persistent Blade) that heavily tax sorcerers.

Personally, I'll still prefer wizards over sorcerers even after this change is made, so I think that it floats.

Here is a list of each perk and potential focus feat...

Bone Warden - Necromancy
Carrion Feaster - Necromancy
Contriver - Abjuration
Cultist - Conjuration
Dream Eater - Enchantment
Hematologist - Divination
Hydromancer - Evocation
Infuser - Evocation
Lifestealer - Necromancy
Maiden of Woe - Necromancy
Mesmerizing - Enchantment
Ooze Savant - Conjuration
Planar Bound - Conjuration
Rotbringer - Necromancy
Scion - Transmutation
Spellsword - Abjuration
Stalker - Divination
Tribal Shaman - Transmutation
Unpredictable - Transmutation
Witchcraft - Transmutation
Zealous Faith - Abjuration
Arcane Mimic - Abjuration
Positivist - Conjuration

Suggestions / True Seeing
October 16, 2019, 10:14:11 PM
This spell occupies a significantly higher spell slot than See Invisibility without any meaningful advantage over it. After all, Protection from Alignment already grants specific immunity to Phantasmal Killer. What use is another layer of that?

I would like to suggest that its base effects be modified to include Ultravision, to give it a little more utility, as the original True Seeing spell did grant sight through darkness and the current version was made to remove the automatic detection of stealthed creatures.

Furthermore, I would like to suggest that with SF: Divination, the spell should grant +5 Spot. And that with GSF: Divination, the spell should grant +10 Spot.

Suggestions / Peerage Script Infrastructure
July 17, 2019, 03:30:02 AM
A conversation broke out in #efu-main about the Peerage's relative poverty of advantages compared to Ticker Square. While no one is particularly worried about it (because we've been a strong, self-sustaining community since the dawn of the chapter), it did bring up the interesting idea of creating new opportunities to acquire "prestige favor."

Please add to this thread with your ideas for systems, contests, or challenges to provide new sources of winning prestige.

I'd like to begin with suggesting that full Peers be tagged with a metafaction similar to the Merchant Guild members. I'd then want for them receive some kind of tool that allows them to grant prestige rewards to deserving retainers, akin to the ability of guild members to boost association wages. This suggestion is directly inspired by the system used for the Watchers & Warders of EFU:R. Obviously, Peers should not be assigning these rewards to themselves or other Peers. It's just a way to encourage the rank-and-file to scrape before their betters.

Suggestions / Minor Module Update: Velstra Vale
June 30, 2019, 12:38:37 PM
Errilam's widow should eventually receive a description update.

And the Vale itself would benefit from a trash barrel. It would be a fine convenience. We have been using the cooking stoves or heading outside into the Peerage Ward as a player solution for the last few months.

Suggestions / Nobility/Charm Relics
June 01, 2019, 05:39:44 PM
I believe that relics of the Charm type should be usable by both Nobility and Charm clerics.

Currently, the Nobility domain is only capable of using Law relics. Charm relics could offer a degree of versatility without disrupting the theme.

Bug Reports / Outdated Quest Dialogue
May 19, 2019, 07:31:08 AM

This is my favorite quest of all time, but it needs some polishing to fit the new setting's cosmology. It should be easy to make work. Golden City. Some of the other custom planes. Et cetera

Other planar entities in this quest should also receive some adjustments.

Suggestions / Turn Undead: Knowledge
May 12, 2019, 11:11:00 PM
The lore-increasing Turn Undead effect appears to have been dramatically reduced in effectiveness.

I would like to suggest that it be further changed to grant (+1 Lore / caster level) to the cleric only, to bring them on par with bards.

Suggestions / Snub the Peerage Retainers
April 29, 2019, 05:51:18 AM
I think it would be cool if the Rumor Mill Reporter snubbed players with Peerage citizenship when they try to get the scoop on where to go.

Perhaps even gave incorrect directions...?

Or merely refused service, I suppose, to avoid confusion for new players.

Suggestions / Faction Bells
March 31, 2019, 05:21:43 PM
It would be useful for the bell systems of old to make a comeback.

However, I would like to recommend that it take a slightly different form. Instead of a placeable, I recommend that the ground floor NPC of each faction possess a dialogue option: "I want to speak with a faction member." All online members (and perhaps the Discord faction channel?) and thereby pinged.

Here is a short list of appropriate NPCs.

  • Thaumaturge Nathaniel Torromos - House Nephezar
  • Retainer Emily Winespill -  House Velstra
  • Reeve Jodfry a'Valar - House Sunpurse
  • Sir Morris Twigobbins - House Glitt
  • Instructor Boris Ironcliff - House Orza
  • Secretary Ramus Bhesk - Merchant Guild
  • Big Fig - Stonebuilder Guild
  • Supervisor Fasur Nufgencker - Rumor Mill

It should.

Suggestions / Banking Reform
March 21, 2019, 06:50:45 PM
Restore banking surcharges, but remove the limit on the amount of gold that can be stored.

Increased surcharges for Peerage citizens.

No surcharges for fully paid guild members.

Surcharges are a variable in the existing banking script infrastructure which imposes a fee on most transactions. Apart from an efficient way for the bank to make money, it would still impose a reasonable cost on all attempts to hoard gold inside the vaults without placing an arbitrary limitation.

A minor interest rate per reset is also an option to prevent excessive accumulation, again, modified by citizenship status.
