I rolled Hale a few months ago, while on a western binge, to see how a western theme would integrate with EfU. Hale's one of my favorite characters I've ever played, and while every story has to end, this is one that it feels very melancholy to see end.

Thanks to all the players who spent hours and hours in meetings or out hunting criminals with Hale- Abala, Narvis, the whole DM team, but in particular DM Caster, all the Watchers, and- most importantly- the villains of EfU, who I had no end of fun spending hours hunting.

[hide="Screenshots"]Even as a recruit, Hale was uncomfortably preoccupied with long coats.

Hale actually arrested the Sons of Cyric once before they became major server villains- and let them free, after that.

The song leading to the biggest fine Hale ever issues

Leading up to the war

Super secret war meetings

Sailing off with half the Watchers to kill D'rul

Hale had a troubling tendency to flirt with hallucination- one of the coolest player plots I've had

It actually got pretty bad, and yet...

... Still completely fit to disperse sub-vigilante justice

[/hide]

Overall, Hale was a hell of a ride. I dont regret anything about Hale-

Besides his accent. I'm never playing a character with an accent again.

Ya'll 'ave a goodun now.

Want to burn heretics? Love screaming madly at people, while claiming to be good? Does the symbol of Tyr give you a hard on that you can only satisfy with mob justice?

Then have I got the movement for you!

Inquisitors come from all walks of life- Watchers, Spellguard, Citizens- so long as you're gods-crazy, we'll have you. Although most of us are Watchers, it is by no means a requirement.

Join us in #Enlightenment on IRC, and together we shall do the most good we can, in the least good way possible.

Off-topic Discussion / Nwn Original Theme
April 23, 2014, 10:39:09 PM
The HotU menu theme lacks the soul and spirit of the Neverwinter Nights theme, and it drove me crazy. So heres a simi-override that'll fix it and restore the proper Neverwinter Nights theme to the Main Menu as it should be.

Suggestions / More distinctive Wayfinder uniform
April 23, 2014, 09:27:04 PM
Its been discussed a couple times but- The Wayfinders are really hard to recognize. Their "colors", brown and grey- also happen to be the colors of default adventurers and everyone else on the server. They also often don't wear the actual wayfinder uniform, as several wayfinders have noted its too heavy.

I'd very much like the ability to recognize the wayfinders on sight, and I'm sure the wayfinders would appreciate being able to wear their uniforms, so I suggest a uniform change, to a lighter cloth and distinctive (if still stealthy and darker) color, and a helm, possibly the same as the old seekers.

It'd add a little flavor to the Wayfinders as they're now a DM faction and would make recognizing them far, far easier. Which is a major part of any faction, and makes them more visible to the general populous of sanctuary. Right now, the only way to tell someone is a wayfinder is knowing their name.

Arc's Status: Not Taking Requests
If Arc is not taking requests, feel free to still post, another might still do it.

A lot of the people on EfU are clever graphics designers and know all about where to find good fonts for character signatures to use in the letters and notes forum, free use vector components and how to put them together into logos, all that.

But it was brought up that for those who don't have such talents, it can feel like a OOC disadvantage to many things.

So- heres a thread to request graphics of all types. Character Signatures, Faction logos, Character Portraits, etc.

The rules are simple: Make a request, with the following details for a signature:

Character:
Description of Signature:
General style of Graphic (Western, Steampunk, Elegant, whatever):
Extra Notes:

Or these for a graphic:
Character/Faction:
Description of Graphic, In detail:
General style of Graphic, and a linked image of similar style (Western, Steampunk, Elegant, whatever):
Content of image:
Extra Notes:

And post it in here. I, or someone else with some skill with photoshop/illustrator/gimp/inkscape will do it for you. Just please remember to thank whoever does it for you. Feel free to PM me or another designer with any private requests you'd rather not post publicly for IC spoiler reasons, just make sure you tell us it's a spoiler in the description.

(I'm not sure if this is something to pursue IG or OOC, so I'll try making an OOC suggestion first, outlining the benefits, then pursue it IG if OOC is not the right channel.)

The Public Housing Vault is my favorite area of the server. Its beautifully designed, the tileset is perfect. It feels, to me, like a Soviet Slum. Huge public work acts by a wasteful self-obsessed organization, surrounded by miles of urban squalor. Its grim, underdark through and through, and TOTALLY abandoned. I'm in there once a day- and the only people I ever see in there are those I drag in personally.

I feel that the public housing vault is the perfect location from many organizations- ranging from sly gangs to charitable hospitals to poor families. And I feel its a perfect place a organization could rent a large building for cheaper then core sanctuary.

So, I propose the following building:
[hide="The building, Highlighted and circled on the Map"][/hide]

Be made into a rental property. Bringing life into the public housing vault, without splitting the server's population. It would make many concepts possible, make being a Watcher more interesting (huge area, usually abandoned, hard to patrol, hive of criminal scum), and I feel bring life into an elegant, ignored portion of the server.

General Discussion / In the 'Dark - Total NWN Reskin
April 10, 2014, 08:43:39 AM

I've always felt all the available Neverwinter Nights skins are too bright for EfU, verging on immersion breaking. I love the Underdark as a setting. The Underdark is a dark, terrifying place, home of lovecraftian races and machiavellian forces, with a oppressive roof of stone, as impenetrable as the sky. Generic-Gold UIs have no place here. So I made what I felt was a skin that would most fit EfU, blending in with the setting instead of sticking out from it.

But you dont want to hear the skin described, so here's a screenshot tour:

The skin is fully compatible with all features of Neverwinter Nights, and should cause absolutely no bugs, issues, or lag at all. (Because its all images, and images can't really break those things.)

If you like it, subscribe on steam.

[hide=old post]Okay, well, Its not done yet- and won't be for at least 2-3 more weeks, but I've been working on it for awhile and want to get some feedback, suggestions, ideas, etc.

Splash Screen:

Main Menu: (Deciding rather or not to remove the SoU/HotU logos)

In game: (As you can see, still several elements unthemed, like the Scrollbar. WIP, those will be themed)

Of course, this is all a WIP, and anything could change any time. So- any comments, ideas, criticism?[/hide]

Its out. Heres the link.

Suggestions / "Trash Bin" in the Watchhouse
March 25, 2014, 12:33:26 AM
Frequently, Watchers have to sort stuff into Evidence, as valuable enough to put into the Evidence safe or just "put into evidence" and throw away. However- this means sorting it, putting it into evidence, seeing theres not enough space, walking all the way out to main upper to throw away some smaller bits from the safe, walking back, putting it in, repeat.

I'd suggest, in the second evidence alcove next to the actual safe, there be a disguised "small and non valuable evidence" safe object, like the actual safe, that is actually just a disguised trashcan.

It'd make sorting evidence 100 times easier, really, and save us a lot of time and loads back and forth.
