Bug Reports / Ashen Mirage level 8 token not granted
December 27, 2021, 03:17:35 AM
As the title says, when reaching AM level 8, I didn't get the two tokens it's supposed to get. One to switch places with a clone, another for fancy VFX only. Resetting the perk, relogging etc doesn't make them appear either.

So, I've had this happen to me a few times, now. Another PC gives mine a small stack of ice arrows. The ones with the picture of a black shaft and white feathers, doing 1 extra cold damage. But when they transfer over to my inventory, they turn into goblin acid arrows, which do 1 acid damage instead. It's a pretty weird bug, and only seen it happen with these ice arrows.

Introductions and Group Management / House Glitt
April 21, 2020, 08:46:47 PM
Okay, so house Glitt is open again, standing on wobbly legs. That offers a unique situation for people to jump into. There's a nice framework in place, with many things left to do.

- A long-term faction quest to undertake at some point.
- day-to-day fund gathering to improve and work on the house itself, its armoury and whatnot (nice for quiet days, gathering groats and such).
- growing numbers via recruitment, working together, building camaraderie etc.
- As a reformed house and perhaps for the first time in recent Peerage history, Glitt is considered a serious noble house, and that brings with it the politics and the intrigue if that's your fancy.

For the moment Glitt stands out as a if not quite good a house on the alignment scale, then at least very close to lawful. There are clearly defined traits to be found IC which all members of the house should uphold and aspire to (Which are really good if you want to play a Peerage paladin in a house and not worry about suitability). That said, nothing's stopping a true bastard from joining, but they might get some pressure on them, especially in the beginning. The more lawful, neutral and good-oriented characters will have an easier time.

Low number of active PCs also means it's real easy to get recognised to put yourself on the map.

You can ping me on Discord to talk about joining, or approach Grayson Pilkins in-game. As I am currently the only active PC member, and can't be online 24/7, I'm sure the DMs will help you get in as well.

Bug Reports / New Glitt bugs
April 21, 2020, 08:32:46 PM
I've come across at least one bug in the new Glitt house, but I'll list both.

First one is a missing spawn point. I talked to Genovalio and the system message said it "Set your spawn point to:" with no area mentioned like usual. When the server later crashed, I spawned in ring 100 instead.

Another possible bug is Armsman Wull missing the faction shop. According to the dialogue, he says something about Skudge wasting and stealing most of the resources, but "Here's what we have for now", followed by the convo breaking and an automatic line of "No shop was found". So it's either a bug, or an intentional thing that might change in the future. Disregard if the latter.

Yup, there we go. Wine bottles can breathe a little easier now.  He died yesterday doing some things on his own, which I'll get to later on.

Honestly, since he wasn't a prime mover, or mover of any kind, I originally didn't think to even make an obituary. But, when he left Velstra and I made the channel removal request on Discord, I was kind of surprised how many people started sending me hasty messages asking if he's died. For some reason he seemed to have a form of cult following. Go figure.

What to say...

I basically started him out with a very minimal concept in mind, because the setting was new and just out of the oven, so I thought locking things down too tight might damage the character during the early days. I knew I wanted to make a Dream Eater. For some spice I wanted him to be slightly foppish, aloof but cordially social. And when it really came down to it, extremely selfish, though he seemed very magnanimous and generous(e). It was usually an easy way to make 'friends', though he didn't have any as far as he was concerned. And while he probably was all that, very early on he evolved/devolved into a full-blown psychopath. He really didn't give a rat's ass about anyone unless he deemed them somehow useful to him. I made no efforts to hide this character trait, but at least 9/10 people just didn't notice. Could've been the wine.

Originally the Dream Eater perk was supposed to be some flair on the side, something mystical he can do. I guess it was the Ordo Arcanum association that made it the focus, instead, and turned his attention more towards that part of him. Hence the weird books. Shame, didn't get around to completing the set with the third volume. I also had some actual in-game research and testing stuff lined up as soon as my vacation was over, that likely would have killed him as well.

Okay, then. I have some very, very random screenshots, and not many at that. But he did have one bit of custom DM loota-bitz and that's always a good reason to make obituaries, since a lot of work goes into these items:

The coil was a very prized item of his, as it gave him all the nightmares he could want. Everyone always thought he wad addicted to wine, but that was just a pastime. Nightmares were his real addiction, always.

He also had a good amulet. It's not DM loot as far as I know, he bought it from Varthan rather early on, and I've never seen another being sold, since:

Despite appearing to be a useless sop (and looking at it factionally, he was) he did meet with people to discuss things. He only ever sent two or three letters and made one whisper. He preferred to 'ambush his targets' in the streets, ask to talk.

He also took part in some silly research:

And occasionally stumbled onto various scenes:

Gardening and herbalism were some of his favorite things to do along the side of his nightmare research. And it would be those things that ultimately led him to leave Velstra completely:

And herbalism continued despite no longer having access to a  secure gardening zone (And sometimes there were some system hiccups):

He was also quick to make new associations after leaving the Peerage entirely:

And, finally... the thing that ended him. I always knew it'd be his own research that killed him eventually. Just didn't think it'd come in the form of grinding paste out of plants.

Slowly bleeding away. If only there was a friend nearby now, to help.

The end. I know, he didn't have to die, just press respawn and keep going. Thing is, quite a while ago I made a promise to myself that the next time he died, no matter the reason (save because of a bug) then he'd die permanently. He had a long run after all. And not every character can go out with a bang, especially the kind he was, always in the background, tending to his own business. And the way that death happened was pretty ironic. He survived so many openly hostile situations in the Peerage, tough combat situations, failed Arcanum rituals, homicidal characters and Ticker hate. But he didn't survive against himself.

I liked him as a background character and think I succeeded in that. People knew who he was, but never viewed him as a threat so he could prance about pretty freely, even up to the point of doing some stupid things because he did only have 10 wisdom in the end, so the occasional slip-up was allowed.

Anyway, unfortunately for you lot, I'm not going anywhere, taking a break or stuff. I'll be alting around in peace and quiet, feeling out the concepts and builds before I settle on the next one. Or I might jump in the bandwagon if someone's got a group or duo concept in the works.

Screen Shots & Obituaries / Sad Bench Warrior
July 26, 2018, 06:23:59 PM
Okay. First thing... I generally don't do these kinds of posts, mainly because I never feel like I play important characters that had an impact on the world at large. Tyvalt was certainly not important, but I suppose this is something to do since quite a large percentage of the (daily) active characters knew him by name, face and of his few habits. He was just... always around.

The whole concept was pretty much a copypaste from an online game of Dungeon World I was part of some years back. Even the name. Tyvalt's powers in the DW game were so similar to the ones of a cursed barbarian, I had to see how it'd play out in EFU. I made slight changes to the personality, EFU's Tyvalt being less of a monster and far more glum and bleak.

His backstory was something no one really found out, one or two people tried but didn't push hard enough. That's how I roll. I never force my characters' stories on anyone, only those willing to take the time and effort might find them out. Usually means my characters seem bland and one-dimensional, but that's how I roll.

Basically, while still on the surface, he had a small farmstead, and a wife who was with child. One evening as he was returning home from the woods, he found the door open, and, inside, a ghoul that had killed his wife, and was in the act of eating the unborn child. Naturally, he killed it. Rest is about wandering, surviving the Dread, then stuff in and around Sanctuary. That single moment of seeing the ghoul and its work was the one thing that always kept haunting him, during sleep and moments of idle time. That's why he always wanted to head out somewhere, because combat brought momentary release from reliving the same thing, over and over.

The curse part I never decided on. I had no predetermined story for it. Had he survived a bit more, somehow joined a group that felt natural so that the story would involve more people, my plan was to contact a DM in case one'd be willing to start running some story events around that, how THEY wanted, so it'd be a surprise journey for me too. Tyvalt only knew something weird was up, some power occasionally brought him back from the brink of death, making itself manifest as a beastly, bloodthirsty warrior. Some force slowly mended his wounds and toughened his skin against blows.

All in all, a pretty basic tragic character.

I finally decided to end him after today's foray onto the surface. With his backstory, it was hard to justify him respawning every time, so after the Mound battle, which was where he died last, I decided that the next time he dies, that's it. End of story, regardless of wasted RP potential.

I have zero screenshots, and certainly no big spoils of war. Everything he had, anyone could've had from spawn drops.
