Bug Reports / Some custom spells are mixed up on items

I first noticed this on 05 FEB 2021. A few of the custom spells are now mixed up on items, to include scrolls. So for example, if you look at the wizard Naoli Thrazulebh's shop, or Upjumped Henriette, you'll notice that Hearthfire scrolls have the alter self spell on them. Alter self scrolls have unravel. Acid storm has ice burst.

My PC has an item which prior to had charges of Hearthfire, but now has charges of alter self.

on 4 FEB 2021, my PC performed a /c yank pack near a corpse of Scanshiver Skinkblood on the Old Forest Road board. Instead of a null result, or pack from that PC being yanked, a different, living PC, Orazio Beecroft, on the same board had their pack yanked.

Net result was a tele-yank of a random PCs pack. I also believe Scanshiver's pack was yanked, but was placed on a different board (Scarbeak is where Scanshiver's pack appeared).

In and around 28-29 January 2021, the spell hearthfire cast from items stopped functioning on my PC. The character animates as if using the item, and a message appears in the log that the item has been activated, however no campfire is made, no visible effect occurs. This happens in areas where campfires are permitted.

At first I thought the issue related to a particular item, but after trying a scroll of hearthfire, this also no longer functioned. The scroll is consumed, the animation plays, but no effect.

Dillusionist wondered that UMD changes to spells may explain the bug. I do not know if other characters are effected when using items. I have seen other characters cast from a spell slot with no issue.

Hello EFU – Miriam Fontaine, Lieutenant of Lancers is gone. She died trying to find her regiment.

She was a blast to portray, and I met some great players and had fun playing with my brother on this marooned soldier concept.

I was able to play the game at a high level, and tried to tell some fun stories, from lighthearted fantasy fun to grim, emotional stuff.

To all the wonderful EFUers who had ongoing stories with Miriam, sorry about the abrupt ending! And to the Lancer players; I really enjoyed our time together, your characters are engaging and well played, and you the players are fantastic. Miriam’s ending is 100% about me letting go. EFU really helped me through a tough, isolating time in my life, but now is the moment for me to move on.

To the oldest and (re)-newest DMs Howl and Lyle – you both made me feel welcome and included in the magic of EFU. Thank you.

And to the Lancer players Vurky, ElricRein, TV’s Frank, efuincarnate, SN, Wyrmlance, nelly, The Old Hack - THANK YOU!

Brilliantly played. I remember being bulled over when our characters first got to know each other while jaw-jacking about Ring theories on the Wall of 95 - Ilian really came to life. I was thinking "I got to find a way to play with this PC more."

Thanks for all the hours of fun. Ilian made playing with the Lancers a joy, and it was a pleasure to get to chat and laugh with you in #lancers. What a class act.

I had so much fun playing Cornelia with Arnbjorn, palling around as a pair of degens. He was part of the magic of what makes this server great.

What: With current implementation, the +2 Cha from the mesmerizer sorcerer perk does not allow you to use the bonus spell slots that correspond to the character's modified charisma.

How: The perk modifier is momentarily reapplied after resting - so for an instant, the PC gets the full effect of the charisma bonus, but then the spells are lost when the modifier is removed/reapplied


At level 10 sorcerer has the following base spell slots available
Cantrip: - (EFU custom)
Level 1: 6
Level 2: 6   
Level 3: 6   
Level 4: 5   
Level 5: 3   

A sorcerer with 18 natural Cha will have 20 Cha after level 8 due to mesmerizer perk. In the character sheet this appears as a green buffed ability score

So in effect, with the rest/reapply implementation, the PC gets the row of bonus slots that fits their lower, pre-perk Cha modifier

i.e. you lose one level 5 spell slot in the level 10, 18/20 Cha example.

Fix: Paha indicated in Discord chat a few weeks ago that the remove/reapply implementation for perk ability bonuses is related to a check on whether the character still qualifies for the perk. That this checks for example that the PC is still pure sorcerer and at the correct level and that some new scheme would need to be implemented if the ability score bonus were to be treated like a natural, unbuffed ability score. As best I can tell this issue really only effects the current mesmerizer perk, so a more limited work-around that applies to this perk might be one way to go.

I have what is likely a related bug.

What: Trolls failed will save on fear and charm. The effect is applied for a split second and then dropped.

Where: QA is the same as Kiaring's post, the troll bog in 95.

How: Charm person cast from mesmerizer sorcerer, fear from item and also summon aura.

I hope this clears up desired details. Zerotje please correct or add more if I'm wrong!

Issue: When you select use item on a Fish Scale, Quartz, or Planar Filth Bundle, instead of putting objects in your inventory, the bundle is lost and the error code like that pictured above appears in the log.

Source of item: NPC Merchant Magus Naoli Thrazulebh located in the Peerage (Peerage interiors). These items are behind a persuade check for additional wares.

Expected behavior: These bundles should function like the medicine bag or oil bundles.

Characters: This has happened with PCs Sigurd Umbar, Miriam Fontaine, and at least two others (see related posts below) so does not appear to be specific to character. In the cases I personally have seen, the character had room in their inventory to drop in the items.

Same type of error reported here for planar filth bundle:

I have seen the same error for the quartz bundle as well. All from the same source (wizard shop in peerage)
