Mari,

Tell me 'yes' so that we can proceed, or 'no' so that I may find another.

A wicker basket and lid sits directly infront of the doorway, impossible to miss. It is simply there one quiet moment, with no knock upon the door to announce itself.

[hide=If one were to remove the lid from the basket...]

Inside lays a dead rat, a cheap dagger run through its small frame. No note or letter, but a message clear as day nonetheless.

Kragg, my good friend, you will be missed. He was the best at what he did, and now it will be just a little bit lonelier at the top without him.

Correspondence / Letter to Rashid al-Rashid [DM]

Magus Rashid,

By time you receive this letter I am sure you will have heard the good news. Indeed, given the totals announced I would say we were the deciding factor in the outcome. Our end of the bargain now being complete, the Worshipful Company of Alchemists is ready to receive your end. Please reach out to me at your earliest convenience so that we may conclude our business.

Signed,
Guildmaster Gers Geiger

Correspondence / A letter to Sadira Uutramut-dai

Sadira,

It has been far too long since we have spoken. The guild is very curious as to the success of your investigation of the keystone, and we would like a progress report on your findings. Bernadette plans to prune the rolls at the very next meeting, so be sure to reply swiftly so we know you are still active in Ephia's Well.

Self explanatory, just make them all unlocked. Need a key or supervision to enter still, but if your host leaves you wont be locked inside.

Correspondence / Letter for Legate Sol Auk

Legate Sol Auk

As guildmaster of the Worshipful Company Of Alchemists, I would like to inquire about prices for the long term renting of the following:

1. All three stalls in the Souk of Salt and Spices
2. Just the stall closest to the Plaza
3. Prices for the above two for evenings only (exact times to be discussed in further detail at a later time)

I would appreciate your quick reply so that I might propose such to the guild at our next meeting.

Apothar Estellise Azimi,

I hear you have taken sabbatical from your work at Eagle's Mount. Regarding our ongoing negotiations, who is to be my point of contact going forward?
As for the list, I see atleast one name I would be comfortable with, which is all well and good. There is still the matter of Marlene, of which I have spoken to Colmes directly about, and some new facts brought to light which warrant further discussion between us (or your colleagues, whomever). I await your (or their) reply.

Give it a day, todays assembly might be about just that

Apothar Vergal Mendista

Unfortunately, due to the death of my lab assistant, I will be unable to fulfill your order at this time. You have my sincerest apologies.

First off, yes I am biased as I just died to one of these things.

The problem as I see it is there are enemies that spawn not all that far from the hub (not the outskirts, but nowhere exotic either) that have both stealth, and can disable you before you even see them via a melee attack, essentially killing you before you have a chance to make a decision that isn't "don't leave the hub". In my example I was fully buffed, and died in a single round (so not even being in a group would have saved me).

I'm all for making the road very dangerous and difficult to navigate, but this doesn't feel at all like high difficulty, its more of a lottery of "will I cross paths with instant invisible death or not". There's no reward or punishment for my decision making, its just a roll of a dice if I make a saving throw or not. Any other enemy, no matter how difficult, at least gives you the option to run away upon seeing it!

So, not to sound too cynical about it, but these particular enemies might need a second look.

FE Dwarf for Low Dwarfs, High Dwarves should have something else (abberation is fine?)

Suggestions / Give light hammers wizard proficiency
March 23, 2023, 03:16:05 PM
The change to light hammers from martial to simple is good, allowing more characters to portray them as tools rather than weapons.

But why not wizards too? They do not get simple weapon proficiency, they instead have "wizard" proficiency. Let wizards have their engineering tools too!

Suggestions / Re: Lore Adjustments
March 20, 2023, 07:15:09 PM
The lengths I had to go through to hit those DC 70 lore checks were absurd, and this was with a primary cleric domain (knowledge) that no longer exists. All while fishing for 20s every 10 minutes, and now we require a reset to reroll a lore check. +2 lore in each slot (helped by several longer lived and an extremely wealth v5 economy), +3 lore DM loot, greater spell focus divination, and level 10 of course, all acquired over 3 months.

Its probably too early to tell if changes are needed this chapter, but Vlaid has a good point. Something to keep an eye on.
