Brainstorming: Ideas for EfU advertisement/propaganda

I believe in EfU. EfU has been great fun. And I played my characters in the EfU fashion. I gave them freedom, but I tried never to dishonor the server. I found a server vault; not EfU. I created a character on it; I played quite late. It was fun. Two months ago, I logged on for some epic questage on the other server. They turned me into a chicken. And then they tried to cyb0r with me. I resisted. I kept my honor. So they banned me, like a griefer. When I went to the server select screen, I couldn't log in. My forum account was banned, and so was my IRC. I couldn't even get the .bic file for the character. So I wept. Why did I weep? That character was super high level. Beautiful lootz. Now I will never have lootz again.

I went to the DMs, like a good player. The cyb0rers were brought to trial. The DM sentenced them to a temp. ban. Suspended sentence. Suspended sentence! They logged on that very day! I stared at the email like a fool. And those two bastards, they lol'd at me. Then I said to Vlaid, "For roleplay, we must go to Don Howland."

On WOTC main website there seem to be ample places to talk up the EFU/A setting and server, without being obnoxious or troll like. Folks who are still playing PNP campaigns, would love the graphical representation they can get with our server.  To me , this is what I envisioned D&D evolving into back when the Red Book and graph paper was our universe.

...it is a pity that we are dependent on abandoned proprietary technology. Eventually we will need to embrace the reality that there is a finite pool of users stalking NWN online, and inevitably, it is shrinking as days pass and the game becomes increasingly obscure and difficult to obtain.

Not that we're planning on going anywhere, but there is only so much advertising can do.

I think I grok what Kiaring is saying. As NWN1 is still being sold, and cheaply, wee should perhaps be looking at attracting people that like RP and DND but have not actually played NWN at all, rather than trying to poach other servers' players (rather bad form in my opinion).

This does sound like a worthy idea, and may net a few more players who can discover the wonders of role playing on a NWN server of EfU:A's quality.

I've been subtly plugging EFU through word of mouth and in my blog, basically telling people about my character's adventures and what fun I've been having. Tell your friends who enjoy good roleplay. Tell people who you would enjoy playing with.
