I always thought mIRC was free, if you were okay with waiting like 30 seconds during start up for it to torture you with "REGISTER! PAY ME!" but it appears that now, I do have to pay after 38 days to use it? Or is there some way around it?

A lot of people are using mibbit which is free.

If you wait, it will still let you use it.  It gives me a bit of grief when I've had to reboot.  Sadly, I lost me registration codes years ago, so ....

But it will still let you use it.  You just have to wait through like 2 pop ups wanting their money.

KVirc is my free client of choice. Take the time to set it up properly and your IRC experience will be a breeze.

RuinedDesires

Its a program that gets perhaps maybe more use than anything else on my pc, I dont mind sending them a little bit of money.

Been a cool user of IceChat most of my time here. Free and lighter than water.

I use Chatzilla for free.  Works fine for me, though I've only ever used mIRC before I switched.

I actually paid for mIRC, years ago. Money well spent, imo.

Chatzilla, a plugin for Firefox, is free and simple. It's nice.

I just run an older version of mIRC that doesn't require you to pay.  I bought it once, lost my registration, and don't feel like spending again.
