Tumble change

Hi,

So I've come across a very awkward situation.

Tumble has been changed since EE to give -ac for negative tumble. While this does make sense it's not really balanced for EFU, as it means it can be crippling if you put any tumble skills in. To confirm this only happens if you invest skill points in tumble and doesn't happen naturally.

To give you an example; I have 5 tumble on my character. If I then equip a large/tower shield I get -5 tumble total. This equates to -2 ac for my character and therefore I only get +1 ac from using a shield.

Therefore I suggest two solutions;

1) Either everyone gets negative ac, regardless of investing skill points, depending on their tumble.
2) We script to remove this from happening, and it's just + ac if you invest enough points.

Thanks

You should never lose more ac than you gain from having tumble in the first place.

If you're losing 2 ac with only 5 ranks then that is a bug that should be reported.

It is however totally fair game that if you have tumble and equipping a large shield brings you below 5 ranks, that you should only get an effective bonus of 1 ac.

Can this be looked into? It's bugging my ac everytime I equip anything...

Dredi

I can confirm I also had this bug (and I put only 4 ranks in tumble as a result when I got de-leveled) but it can be temp fixed by un-equipping and reequipping your armor and shield. RSD can also fix it by resting and then equipping the sheild

Its not perfect, but its a temporary fix until the more overarching fault is fixed.

I think its a fault with applying the effect twice, but I am uncertain.

I will look into it when I can within day or two.

Edit:

I have tested and looked into few things and I will have to see the persons who made this bug report, and their characters. Because something else is going on here. It definitely is not that tumble gives negative AC, because that alone does not happen.

I am suspecting you have items that give additional armor class AC bonuses, and those can cause issues when you try to equip them while having armor AC already.

Dredi

Alas, the character I was on is no longer alive. That being said I know he did not have any armor bonuses on his plate. The armor negative was a -AC status effect applied to the character when you swapped equipment which would make your tumble drop below 5. Occasionally that AC penalty would become -2 (Through I think 2 separate applications of the -1 AC debuff, perhaps something is causing the first one not to go away properly?)

The debuff is applied, I understand to stop you getting a dodge AC bonus when you've got a massive negative tumble modifier in heavy armor etc.

I am aware of what it is exactly, but to see what happens in these cases, I would have to observe it in person to get all variables.
