I originally intended to make something fairly light and loose to get a feel for CoR and tried with a couple of PC's before I realized I'm only happy if I had some kind of vague direction to go on. This PC was originally intended for House Orza-- a man-at-arms fighter with little love for the nobility and fops who hid behind titles and bloodlines rather than martial talent. The Orza pushed my shit in, and while I was waiting for my rematch, Adrian Winespill found me first. From then on I decided to kind of go with the flow and see where efu took me. I didn't accomplish very many-or any- of the goals I wrote down, but I had a lot of fun creating different kinds of relationships with many different players, inside and outside the Peerage Ward. It was Crane's sense of loyalty that ultimately led to his end, and I'm glad I got to see it through.

The appeal of the Peerage Ward and its Houses grew on me quickly, though my friends in House Diomasaigh were doomed to oblivion...his ambitions dashed and with little more to go on, Crane dedicated himself to House Velstra, and was loyal- even when its Bannersmen were less than stellar.

Sylyn had Crane's attention early on--first as a possible target to spring into prominence in House Orza, then as a kind of strange romantic sparring partner to pursue. It was not to be, and her death impacted him greatly.

I ended up playing Crane as more Lawful than Evil. Choose your alignments carefully.

It was so enriching to get to as a priest type PC be able to have such a genuine interaction with a conflicted warrior seeking his place and purpose in the chaotic world. Really helped in fleshing out things for me, so thanks for that!

He was dynamic and conflicted and all around never a dull moment!

I only had a handful of interactions with your character but he was played very well. I enjoyed the little trip to the Crypts.

"Sylyn had Crane's attention early on--first as a possible target to spring into prominence in House Orza, then as a kind of strange romantic sparring partner to pursue."

I won't lie. Both would have worked remarkably well. Pumpkin-hearted-Eggplants, both.

What a fantastic PC. I remember seeing Crane's ominous diary before even meeting him, hearing he was going into Orza and thinking "this is how I die". Those first impressions were actually silently and giddily built up with the expectation it'd have been a "nemesis mine" encounter with an absolute, black hand of Bane-y badass.

Crane was great. One of my biggest regrets was not having a solid reason to spend more time investigating him, there were layers upon layers of depth wrapped up in a bundle of deceptively straightforward soldier. No matter what you'll play next, I want in!
