To the esteemed Legates of Ephia's Well,

I write to you as counsel from the Honorable Guild of Advocates with what was witnessed by my eye on the 3rd of Maribeh.

Stirring from an evening rest, I made my way to the Pyramid upon the bellows of a Sultan's Janissary indicating that Valeria had brought forth Makhyoon Yaawar al-Khalhid.

There, she awaited the presence of our Legates to deliver the promised bounty of 5,000 dinari for the live capture of the Makhyoon.

When informed that I would accept the man into the house arrest of the Guild until the Legates stir and can elucidate on this bounty, she attempted to remove his head, but failed.

The Sultan's Janissary placed the man into my custody, and I brought him to the Guild. There, I spoke to him of his last rites, and he took my confession. A show of piety between a Twindari and an U'zziri. Witnesses of this display were Peyton Monroe, Ramez Hour Sobhy and Kastante Meyer.

He revealed to me that he bore the Mark of Baharu during this rite, and as we spoke, the Guild became cold as ice, and our breath became as mist. He did not leave that night, and remained there until brought to trial the following day.

If you have any further inquiries, do not hesitate to send word, but Valeria's attempt to murder the man in front of the Pyramid surely unveils the nature of this woman, and at the time, the Makhyoon was a citizen of Ephia's Well and Valeria was not (and still is not, far as I know).

She has shown only emboldened contempt for the law and for our city, and would sooner take the law into her own hands as a coin-hungry brigand than as a citizen of the Citadel doing her duty. Fined once already for battery of the Janissary and bystanders, she then brought herself armed to the steps of the Pyramid with intent to spill blood, and nearly ended a life on those stairs.

She could be found guilty of Serious Assault, and brought to trial. Therein she could be conscripted into the Fourth Legion as penance. Allowing her to continue unopposed can only mean bolder crimes and more dangerous callousness for our citizenry and their safety. She must be brought to heel.

Best regards,

Edmund Lothere
