Good day to you, honored son of Baz'eel.

I welcome you to Ephia's Well and offer my apologies for we met in poor circumstances as I fumbled (failingly) to bring light upon the death of a pious citizen of our home.

Your treatise regarding the woes of the White League have caught my eye. As a former member, Prelate and interim Legate of that unfortunate breeding ground for the Rose's concentration of influence, I cannot say much disagreement was found in your words.

There is a deeper issue at hand here and I would welcome your thoughts. Coin shall of course be offered for your time if nothing else.

Though here be it the inquiry to ponder in your head ere we meet soon enough to discuss it; are the issues you describe not reflected in the other Leagues? After all, the League of Purple is little more than a cult of personalities one after the other, seen most notoriously throughb Legate Lujayn al-Farisyya's rise to power upon the platform of "The League of Purple can do all that the Lily promises and more."

Her philanthropist approach indeed honored Princess Hasheema in more ways than any Lily effort I have witnessed and yet behind her governance was hidden a poisonous ego that bled through her pristine toga and endearing smile. She was more populist than most in the League of White let alone Legates, and such a thing is even writ on the tenet.

The League of Gold saw a stroke of long gilded fortune, as Argent Argyris steered the decaying faction into not only the wealthiest but also the most powerful party in the city, while before him its credibility was slowly fading. Even now, two victories by Legate Lhyrian on the platform of correcting the tyranny if the former Golden Regime of Gloamingdaith and Argyris, and winning the hearts of the adventuring class as John Syter did long before her has earned her a firm foundation of support.

The true downfall of every Lily effort is indeed the entrenched influence held over it by the Cinquefoil Rose, and their continued insistence to run platforms based on emotion and fiery rhetoric, instead of reason and logic, as you say.

I lool forward to our conversation.

My regards,

Palatial Advocate Edmund Lothere

Palatial Advocate,
Seeing you stand firm against Roy on principle was not unpleasant an introduction to one another.

That you would fight for your beliefs, even if disagreeable, is admirable in its own way. I have come to learn many in this frontier Outpost are less and less inclined to make stands as you did. Which is, as previously said, credit to you.

As for the other Leagues I have no doubt they their own dilemma. Even beyond those you have mentioned. One need look no further than the "Employee Protection Act" now raised by Purple and Gold League. I intend to see a considerable amount of ink spent on the failings of this effort.

Seek me though at your leisure and we may indeed discuss other matters of the other leagues.

Ruital,

As per our discussion, here is a brief overview of the Palatial Advocacy and its history;

It was created during the last days of my tenure as Legate as part of a larger agreement. A clause that acted as a social contract of some kind to ensure my position was secure after my time as Legate was over, as my successor was hellbent upon unraveling all I had made an effort to accomplish alongside Vellyn.

Some of those agreements she succeeded in unraveling, but legal contract signed by two Legates is difficult to make disappear on one's whim. Thus, before even beginning my career as Palatial Advocate, its creation was perhaps 'for the public good' but in reality showcased that the most powerful lawyer in Ephia's Well is indeed a Legate of the Assembly!

It was Lhyrian's Vizier, Dunstan Feldg, that concepted the idea. He acted as my financial advisor and funded many of my public works, including the Honorable Guild of Advocate's property at the time next to the Union of Glaziers. Though after a Makhyoon of the Wroth was placed under house arrest there, the property value began to diminish and my funds escaped me, as he had placed a most profound curse upon it. To this day, it remains empty and of little desire to investors.

The intent was simple. Coupled with Legate Lhyrian's tendency of paying and advertising for public advocates (offering boons of 200 dinari for anyone off the street to act as defendant in ill organized trials), my retainer would be paid for by hourly wage and also be offered a bonus of said 200 dinari should I attend as defendant. But the Palatial Advocate's role was to manage, organize and recruit for the Guild, to usher in a new era of lawmakers, reformers and public advocates in close correspondence with the Twindari clergy. It did not pan out in such a way, as those who care much for the law it seems are few and far.

Lastly, the Palatial Advocate would advise and offer counsel upon proposed laws from the Legates, and also seek such proposals from the Accord and the Voiced Assembly, to perhaps present it during Assembly and save us all precious time, in an attempt to continue any efforts to make our noble Assembly a more organized and less chaotic affair.

I also leave you with two names whom have expressed interest recently in serving the Honorable Guild of Advocates (this name is not cemented in the contract and so if selected by the Legates I leave you to its creativity);

Kana Morai who currently works for the Ashen Conclave as auxiliary merchant and Innas yl-Saod, of whom I know little of.

With all due regard your friend,

Soldier Lothere,
I confess a great deal of this position sounds a role that the Sublime Garden should be pursuing. These matters, specifically public defense and counsel on legislation, is primarily what their traditional duties fall under. That the Scribes of the Sublime Garden attend to the Legate's needs and duties while the Legates transform the Voiced's wishes into Stele law. I understand of course that Legate Lhyrian has her quarrels with the Deputy Chief Scribe, so I can see why the need for some circumvention would simplify matters, but on the whole I do find the entirety of this to be a bit hat-on-hat, in terms of bureaucratic endeavor.

I shall be glad to speak with the Legates per your request, the least I may do is hear them out as we discuss the proposal given your ties to the position and past aspiration.

Overall though? And I hope you do not take this personal but from an objective assessment I fear it may be best served dissolved and the Scribes given new mandate to reaffirm these positions. Financially speaking keeping someone on retainer when they already pay the Scribes for all of these duties is just... sloppy governance.
