My boy,

I've just stopped in from the old gnome's road. Some false rumors again about my missing hat reached my ears by one of my old colleagues. He used to be a respectable wizard, but now all he does is spend his days tracking worms and with his ears to the ground listening for sounds he's too old to hear.

Anyways, I am not entirely aware of what has come to pass and so will hopefully return to our home so we may share words soon.
